Note: I made a critical and more in-depth review of the third novel that you can read for more details on why I’m moving on from this series.

But in essence, I’m tired of the endless lectures and moralizing and then rehashing of those by the MC to himself or whoever he’s talking down to. Seriously, it’s like I’m watching a Taylor Sheridan drama with all the contrived superiority lectures. This particular book got even worse in that we added this computer with a soul thing he carries around so the MC can rehash all his endless self-justifications and moralizing again and again.

I don’t like the MC anymore. There’s not a single side character that ever lasts or is interesting. The plot is always overly ambiguous, and the plot progression rudderless. I don’t care about the plot. There’s little time given to level/stat/skill progression and much less combat in this fourth installment, which was this series’ only saving grace for me in the first two books.

So with that, I say farewell. Some interesting concepts, especially the necromancer angle, just extremely poorly executed. So much so, I doubt the author can write anything I would personally appreciate.

I do not recommend this series.

I enjoy this series because the MC is a mix of extremely protective of people important to him, while also being a deeply flawed and miserable person. He is essentially a monster who is trying to protect those he considers "his" who he doesn't want to become monsters like him.

You are constantly reminded of how fucking sociopathic the MC is. He is not a good person, he isn't even adjacent to a good person. He is essentially a mad dog who protects what he perceives as his family. The story revolves around his decisions on how to best to protect his "family" and how the people of that "family" both feel grateful of his protection while also pissing themselves in terror of him. While those characters also deal with the fact that this monsters way of dealing with things actually protects them while their good natured approaches utterly fail and causes their loved ones to die.

The MC is essentially the devil on all his "family's" shoulders. While also being the guardian angel that will always step in if a member of the family fucks up and gains an enemy.

Oh no - the author is a fan of multiverses!

The early plot of the side quest reads like a drug trip: "Wouldn't it be cool if the hero would be on an alternative Earth with two suns (but with the former countries and languages we know) after the poles flipped, ending up in the last town which is ruled by creatures pretending to be elves for some reason who fight Russian speaking dark elves?"

Later on, the author desperately tries to rekindle the interest of the reader by speeding to an unbelievably contrived and unsatisfying conclusion of the side quest where the protagonist repeatedly bullies entities who could erase him from existence with a snap of their fingers..

Comments:

It is sad that nobody has ever told me when i was young that looking creepy and playing with dead meat and slimy mushrooms in public apparently gets high standard girls in the mood and eager to get out of their panties... #rofl#

The author's lengthy hommage to committing evil in the name of "love" is deeply disturbing . The incitement to commit any attrocity imaginable in its name reminds of modern Disney's attempts to redeem evil while condemning good and sounds like a love letter to radical islam or the worst of the Nazi..

I found it hilarious that after putting an excessive amount of Atribute points into constitution for autistic reasons and total neglecting his main attributes for so long Sylver ends up with insufficient mana..

It was funny that Arda is supposed to hold against its enemies due to its strong walls after the author had everybody and his grandmother have the teleport skill..

This is a fantasy LitRPG series about a very powerful Lich/Necromancer who dies and is mysteriously brought back to life/unlife a very long time later. I like the series overall. See my review for book 1 for additional thoughts on what I've read of this series.

I read a lot of this book on Royal Read but before I could finish it there it was pulled since the ebook version was coming out in a few months. Many months later I got this ebook and jumping back in was very rough. I had a very difficult time remembering all the characters. The main reason I was driven to try jumping back into this now is that a particular event was teased in this book and I really want to see how it would pan out.

Good story however it's getting stale, with a lot of filler.

Book three and four were hard to get through as a took a jump from the initial storyline and seemed unnecessary, the author is creating multiple story lines that intersect or don't, and it's hard to even really care what's going on at times. Introducing a lot of new characters that you don't really have the same affinity for the characters he created in books 1 and 2. A lot of the book felt like filler or plot armor to force the characters into their future story lines. I'll give book five a try but the story is starting to feel stale in the pace slows down so badly when the main character starts introspect dialogue on every nuance of his actions. That just gets boring.

The author repeats himself a dozen times and gets mopy for pages upon pages with no end and having the MC go on awful monologues. When you try to fill every moment with deep emotions no moment is emotional; it just becomes annoying instead of deep.

This series was pretty ok, save for the random sexual wish fulfilment where every girl immediately wants to get in the MCs pants upon meeting him.

This book just ruined the good things the series had going on by replacing well placed filosophical conversations (though the filosophy was a bit twisted) by just shoving the MCs views down the reader's throat 24/7.

It's a slog, Garystu MC pushes around entities and deities that would flick him from his inexistence and gets away with it.

Always tries to remind you he's perfectly reasonable and doesn't like violence but shows us he'd rather kill anyone and everyone if they don't immediately give him what he wants because he misses how he used to be feared. Some would say that's consent but you can't be both sides of a coin at the same time.

Dropping the series as it's adding multiverses and the MC isn't really likeable at all.

An excellent continuation

The lich is still hunting for his family. The story continues and keeps up it quality and tone. The minor edits from the original on royal road improve the flow of the story. If you like the series keep reading here, if you are interested start at the first book. You won't be disappointed.

This one was a slog.

I struggled with this one, the first half just dragged and wasn't really necessary. As with the rest of the series things just happened. Still waiting for the evil mc to do something other than adopt every stray kitten it comes across. Not sure about continuing but likely to give it a shot.

Broken

I never liked the arc involving travel to a different realm. It was drawn out and overly complicated. I remembered nothing of where the series left off so once it returned to the main story I was quite lost.

engaging

This book was engaging. Continued the story and gave that main character feel we all hunted for. Thanks for the book.

A good read.

I liked that the story is progressing at a good pace. There are no cliffhangers (I wouldn't say I like those).

Awesome Stuff

This story of an old school Arch mage waking up in a world with a System was fantastic. In this book he’s finally home and has a lead to find his king.

I enjoyed this more than I did my previous book.

Someone thinking their way out of problems is more appealing that a battle junkie.

Will pick up the sequel.

- story jumped off a cliff at bk3 for some reason
- imo leaving the characters built up in books 1-2 and starting basically anew with some bonus power felt kinda shallow, couldn’t be bothered/interested in Sylver’s isekai adventures, I thought it was going to be a like 5-10 chapter for fun fluff arc but got cancer instead
- a whole lotta yap, could care less about twin explaining his moral reason for the Nth time, didnt mind it the first 10 times tho
- only pushed through to bk4 cuz I got the 4-book omnibus, needed something to listen to while working, and didn’t find another series to start in time
- do remember somewhat enjoying books 1-2 tho, one month later and I alr forgot everything about the series lowkey
