And when the Alaska State Troopers are called in, the only thing warmer than rookie Crime Scene Tech Stacy Cartwright’s bed is the hot, vile breath emitted by the creature that’s tearing its victims to shreds and discarding their blood drained bodies in the once-white snow.
Will Stacy’s investigation solve the mystery behind these slayings? Or will her discovery of several sticky substances left behind by multiple beings only prove more baffling? BLOODCUM!

A very strange and twisted (and stomach upsetting 🤢) collection of stories. Many of them tie into David’s other works as well.
I think I would’ve liked to know more about the characters; a lot of shocks and gross outs occur, but the characters felt pretty surface level for the most part.

From the first story, aptly titled 1.Appendage, the hilarious smutty horror show begins involving a human and an octopus.
2.Get A Clew - my best advice is don't eat while listening to the grossness of Rory's tale.
3.The Man With A Frozen Heart is Mouthwash Matty switching off his emotions. The debate of Listerine or Scope lives.
4.Big Blue Sky, Bright Red Splatter a western horror about a Confederate soldier and a barber surgeon and all implied in the title.
5.The Elephant in the Room is an OMG about the Elephant Man's descendants and a laugh out loud line about the woman who slept with him, "This wasn't her first rodeo but it was her first elephant."
6.Pumpkin Slice is what you think, a bloody Halloween mess plus a cautionary tale of drug use.
7.Choose Your Illusion asks what would you trade your faith for? The consequence is perfect.
8. BLOODCUM, the #1 story on the Godless platform, where the above quote is from, has murders in Alaska. It's the definition of horror.
The voice artist C.J. Grey gives his all with his superlative cadence, tone and acting skills. Between his voice and the writing I was a WTF, are you kidding me smutty horror loving mess. It's filthy, demented, hilarious and for hardcore horror fans only.

You know those sorts of rides where they zig zag repeatedly, shooting you around on different levels to take another twist, and with every turn, the safety bar slams into your stomach? That's what this collection reads like.
Vile, disgusting, and disturbed. I will never feel the same about alliteration. Unsure if it was excessive or if its purely a new sensitivity - thanks for getting in my head ahhhhhhhhhh.
It's no wonder it's so highly rated here and on Godless, David is a master of their craft.

Appendage is one of those books that makes you physically uncomfortable and somehow you keep turning the page anyway.Merril David delivers pure nightmare fuel, blending visceral body horror with a creeping sense of inevitability. The horror isn’t just what’s happening on the page it’s the anticipation, the slow realization that something is deeply, irrevocably wrong.The imagery is brutal without being meaningless. Every grotesque moment serves the story, tightening the tension until you feel trapped inside it. There’s a raw, almost clinical coldness to the horror that makes it feel disturbingly real.
And if you’re listening on Audible C.J. Grey’s narration elevates this to another level. His delivery is controlled, eerie, and perfectly paced, making the most disturbing scenes land even harder. This is one of those audiobooks where the narrator becomes the horror.
If you love:

• Body horror that makes your skin crawl

This goddamn book! 😆 This was absolutely disgusting and vile. I LOVED IT. It’s a collection of shorts and my favorite were Appendage & Bloodcum. Bloodcum was probably the short story of the YEAR. 😆 It’s exactly what I always wanted beauty and the beast to be because I’m sick and twisted. Highly recommend this gem if you want something fast paced and gross af. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely devoured this little collection of filth. Merrill David has a way with words. Hey there’s a little bit of something for everyone! These stories are absolutely dirty, disgusting, sexy, horrifying, repulsive, titillating, offensive, and humorous.

I devoured the book with my eyes the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Each and every single story!
The characters are people you want to be your friends or want to kill, lol.
Each story is a splash of dirty, filth, gore, sexiness, horror and a whole lot of OH MY!
I just finished listening to the audible and once again not disappointed by CJ Grey’s performance.

Mr. Merrill David knows exactly what lane he is in and floors it. This collection is gross, funny, mean, and strangely heartfelt when you least expect it. The range here is wild. A splatter western. A tragic Elephant Man redux. A love story that hurts in all the wrong ways. And yes, BLOODCUM! earns its reputation by being as sticky, baffling, and aggressively unforgettable as promised. The characters are not just meat for the grinder either. Even at peak filth, there is intention, pacing, and an author who understands tension and payoff.
What Could’ve Been Better:
If splatterpunk is not your thing, this book will not convert you gently. Some stories hit harder than others, and the extremity can occasionally overshadow the emotional beats. This is less a flaw and more a warning label.

This collection is absolute chaos in the best, bloodiest way possible! Every story oozes with originality, terror, and filth, just how splatterpunk fans like it. From tentacled nightmares to sticky snow-soaked crime scenes, the author pulls no punches. BLOODCUM! alone is a brutal, grotesque masterpiece that deserves its #1 spot on Godless, utterly insane in all the right ways. If you're not scared, disgusted, or slightly aroused, you're not reading it right. A must-read for lovers of the depraved and the daring. Bravo!

8 amazing short stories, all as equally depraved, gross & spell binding as the last! I honestly could of read each one as a full
Length novel & it still not be enough!
Because I read so many anthologies, I don’t usually run for collections by the same author but I can hands down say this is one of my fav collections of stories I’ve read to date! Each one was perfection!
I do have ‘Everything You Love’ which is another collection by David too so I am most definitely going to bump that up the tbr 👏🏼
