I won my copy of The Disappearing on GoodReads FirstReads and I loved it! It's about a small secluded town called Briny Deep that starts experiencing mysterious disappearances of children. The main character, Tim, and his four bestfriends Luke, Max, Nina and Emily, are scared for the missing kids especially since crime is virtually non-existent in Briny Deep. Both Tim and Luke and one of the missing kids, Eva, all seem to have had sightings of the same strange yellow haired man, instantly making ...more
This was a fast-paced, short, quick read. It had intrigue and a fun plot with a cool twist at the end. The head-hopping got a little annoying in parts, but it was still easy to follow. Maybe was just a bit young for me. Liked, didn't love. ...more

Grades 5-7.

Tim and his best friends live in the bucolic town of Briny Deep. They enjoy an idyllic life of skateboarding, barbecues, and sleepovers. In fact, nothing bad happens in Briny Deep. Ever. The only trouble for Tim, it seems, is his recurring nightmare. Each night, he is chased by a stranger. He sees a green lawn and yellow house, always just out of reach. And every night, he awakes right before being caught. While Tim can’t seem to shake

Tim and his friends are living an idyllic life in Briny Deep until teens start to go missing and a mysterious man with yellow hair is seen lurking around town. The boys decide to investigate and Tim finds out that things may not be as they seem in his life. The Briny Deep Mysteries are a three part series of high interest, low vocabulary books for reluctant readers. The text is in a larger print and the book is physically larger than one is normally for this age group. The story will keep reader ...more

The back cover of THE DISAPPEARING says "leaves you with an ending no one could of imagined." That is an understatement! This story of five teens whose friends begin to mysteriously disappear from their little town has a breathtaking plot twist at the end. My advice is have the next two books in the series (THE RETURN, THE BATTLE) on hand, because you won't be able to wait to see what happens next.

These books zip along at a pace that will hold older boys' interest. But any young reader who enjoy

This book was a very nice quick read (finished it a week ago). I want to know more about Tim. This book definitely left me with a good suspense. Absolutely waiting to read the next two books to finish this! I know embark on a series goal!

-Tim is a high school student in Briny Deep. Mysteries slowly unfold when his friends go missing. Little does he know that Briny Deep holds a lot of secrets for him as well.

I received this book through a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway.

I really enjoyed this book. I was disappointed in the length and I was definitely not ready for it to end. The ending itself just came completely out of left field, I was not expecting it at all.

Overall, I'll definitely be going out of my way to read the next two. It's an amazing story.

Fast quick read. Enjoyable but not satisfying enough. I want to know/read the rest of the story. If your child likes mysteries they should enjoy this book, but will probably want i8mmediate gratification by reading the rest of the story.

This is from Speeding Star Readers, designed specifically to "keep boys reading". This suits ANY middle school or high school reluctant reader. I would readily give this to any teen; there is no inappropriateness whatsoever, making it easily suggestible. Fast paced-plot, nonstop action. ...more

What a great mystery! It's a skinny read at only 87 pages, and with such a cliffhanger of an ending, I'm looking forward to the other 2 in the trilogy! ...more
