Sometimes you get so attached to fictional characters that when a book ends, you miss them. Such is the case for me with Sasha, Stefan, and Charles in the latest KF Breene series. The third installment in this story was released yesterday, and I happily and greedily got sucked back into their world.

This is a compelling series, full of mythological creatures and beings remade so skillfully that they seem normal. Paranormal and fantasy isn’t my favorite genre, because it takes a skilled writer wi

3.5 stars.

I really liked the first book, but the second book was a bit of a let down. It has redeemed itself with book 3, lol. I like where the plot line is leading us and hopefully the characters will develop a bit more.

Sad that it is a short read though....

This heroine very powerful! And she merely human haha:)

On A Razor’s Edge starts off with Stefan and his clan awaiting a visit from the Regional – the grand poobah (more or less) of Stefan’s race of “not humans but not vampires either”. The Regional, his linked Mage Toa and a few other council members show up on Stefan’s doorstep to scope out Sasha, determine if she has the black level magic and discuss Stefan’s taking a suitable mate.

Things go surprisingly well – all things considered – and before she knows it; Sasha is off to magic camp

This was a little bit of a drag...
i wanted more of more of more...and when I did get more, I was kinda wasted from waiting to get there
at least the sex is still holding the fortress and the banter between our heroine, her bodyguard Charles is hilarious (I like Charles, btw!)
and I still need to see how this will end

This had me on the edge of my seat. Breene has created an interesting story. I'm hooked. I so did not see the end coming. Glad I have the forth book.

It didn't feel like the book went anywhere but I am hooked so I will keep reading.
I love this series, I loved this series since I started reading book one. I love the world building. I love Sasha, Stephan, Charels, I even love Jonas. I love just everything about this book.. There is all the love. I love where Breene is going with this book. I love that she has even had the thought to create this in her head.

I am not even being sarcastic. I have nothing to say that is bad about this book. I could keep going but if I do I fear I am going to sound like a kiss ass so here have a

So I am definitely getting tired of the "I can't figure out my magic." plot line. I am not sure if it is the way people treat her because Sasha's magic doesn't want to cooperate, or if its her own attitude towards learning the magic and trying to manipulate it, but I am for sure feeling the frustration on this. Maybe if they spent more time trying to figure out what she is and why she is this way it would help. So I am glad Trek is out of the picture, seemed a little anticlimactic tho. Why is it ...more

Well life for Sasha may not be getting easier but hell now after that story it's certainly getting more interesting I can't wait to read more, her powers are just amazing.

Hate to put it down

I continue to enjoy Sasha's sassy and mix of unconfident personality. I am so proud of Stephen trusting her to be an ambassador to the shifters alone. Though he didn't really have a choice. Darla continues to be a hussy unfortunately and Jonas is still a jerk, but Sasha doesn't give up. My only issue was how fast it goes.

This series is making this Bibliophile so freaking happy!!! Im so engrossed with the story that it only took me a couple of hrs to finished this book! Just cant put it down. Off to read book 4!
I received On a Razor’s Edge in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by AToMR Promotions. Sasha and Stefen have survived the most recent kidnapping they are now waiting for the Regional to show arrive. When the Regional arrive they test Sasha to see if she truly is a black mage or if it’s a mistake after all the black magic uses are just a myth. They also notice that Stefen has marked her but it’s not out of business but because he loves her. The pair is nervous that they won’t ...more
The Darkness series by K.F. Breene is a light fantasy romance series. It has an intriguing basic concept, action, funny banters and of course, magic, vampires and shape-shifters. The series starts out interesting but looses it all pretty soon and turns into a superficial formula fiction. The first 3 books are readable, although only as a light quick read with no expectations. The following books are disastrous.

Stefan thinks highly of himself and his abilities, "it's a good place to start. And the next big thing has been here. Or didn't you remember getting pounded by it when you woke up?" This one not much notes or highlights were taken as I was to busy being entertained at seeing what Stefan does for his woman.

Argh ... i can't remember for sure but I THINK I recall this book as being the most romantic in the series? (Unless I'm thinking of the Fire one... ... ... which seems more and more likely...)

So the whole "I'm not worthy" when it got too angsty was a bit eye roll inducing cuz obviously she'd get there, but HAVING the concerns and thinking them was realistic - not that anyone is ... well Stefan. Ass. [Was gonna say not that anyone really told her she couldn't...]

... I can't remember

Intriguing series and world. Witty writing and a female lead character who is likable, even though she does some stupid things. I read the first 4 novellas in the box set. I generally dislike novellas because they nearly always lack character development and a dynamic plot. So I probably wouldn't have even picked up this series if it hadn't been boxed. But this series has a decent amount of character development and definitely a dynamic plot, with each novella containing just enough of each to k ...more
Stefan has his work cut out for him if Sasha is to become his clan's mage so he entrusts his clan educators to give Sasha a crash course in the basics. Time is of the essence as the Regional (Stefan's immediate superior) has been told of Sasha rare and unheard of black level status and is coming to test her against his own white level Mage Tao. If she fails the test, Stefan has grave concerns about Sasha's future personal health and well being.

It's back to school time as Sasha needs

In 'On A Razor's Edge' we get to meet the 'Mata'. They are shape shifters, or just 'shifters' to many of us PnR junkies 😉 Stefan & (Grumpy/Possible Bad Guy) Jonas both seem have massive issues with them that Sasha just doesn't understand!! We don't find out why in this book, hmmm 🤔

The Regional & his Mage arrive to measure Sasha's power level & she is terrified of letting Stefan down!! 😟 As per usual her magic doesn't react in the way it should when she does the same casts

It is time to see if Sasha truly has the highest level of magic and to see if Stefan can convince the Regional that she is mate material. The Regional and his white mage will test Sasha’s levels of magic to see if her magic truly is the highest level of magic that is said to be a myth. Sasha is extremely nervous about the meeting and testing because if she doesn’t receive their approval, she will be cast out of the only home she knows.

Sasha is a complex character that is relatable an

Marathon weekend of K. F. Breene

Can I just say chapters 1-3 was hilarious... Sasha demonstrating her powers oh my... The shenanigans were just laugh out loud crazy. I'm enjoying the battles, but if she was kidnapped again!!! I'm enjoying the ongoing relationship of Sasha and Stefan, I thought for sure the Region was going to be more difficult. The mole, did not see that coming, but was not surprised, I was looking elsewhere. Charles and his sexual escapades are just too funny, as well. Again,

Frustrating but good!

I like the additional info on her background and look forward to learning the rest, especially the bit about her being able to talk to the Ducha! She needs to stop worrying about what everyone thinks about her and just only you and what she is and get on with it! It is by far my biggest pet peeve with her in this book, she lets that stupid feeling of inadequacy drive her to do stupid things even though it does turn out good in the end, a lot of things that happened don't

This book was the best of the three I have read so far. Its just a shame the battles happen so fast and are over within a couple of pages. This book constantly talks about stefans mistrust (of the shifters) but still doesn't say why

I think the main reason as to why I have marked this book as a 3 star is because the protagonist is constantly portrayed as weak but then the battle happens and somehow she manages to save the day. its just too unrealistic at times.

Finding her place

5 stars again. This writer keeps me entertained the entire time. I love the way she writes!

There is the love story layered with Sash finding her place, layered with her coming in to her sexuality full steam ahead. The characters are all unique and well developed.

Sasha has to try to make herself into a leader that could be accepted by Stefan's people if she ever wants to be his mate. Her first duty is making friends with shifters. The alpha just so happens to be strong and

On Razor’s Edge was excellent! The battle scenes were written perfectly! I laughed so much with all the sarcasm, wit and just plain terrific banter! Very fast read! Oh Charles, Charles, Charles! If he wasn’t basically the “age” of a hormonal teenager. He’d need to have his choices examined! Dingbat!! Saw Darla and her scheming a mile away, so what is she going to unleash next I wonder? Sasha and Stefan of course are just perfect together. The Mata are terrific, can’t wait to read mor

I just love this series!

Really you need to read this book and the series. This is my second time reading these books. I still can't get enough of them. Stephen, a strong handsome male lead character with Sasha, a strong smart ass female character. Then there's Sasha's bodyguard, Charles the youngest watch commander, he's brash, promiscuous an all around good guy. Who knits in his spare time. I have to laugh at that! This is a fun, paranormal, romance and suspense story. You'll love it!

3 out of 5 stars.

I wanted to like this book more but it just lacked a little something to make it great. Right now the author’s efforts to make this world more complex are really not well written or fully flushed out.

The ending also made zero sense. She spent the whole book training and failing at magic and then the battle happens and she sort of holds her own and suddenly that’s enough for her to be accepted as Stefan’s mage? Seems highly unlikely.
