Beatrice Hampton is struggling to adjust to life as the girlfriend of a handsome young billionaire. It should be easy, but when she lost her parents in her mid-teens, she lost a dearly loved piece of herself too and still can't shake that voice inside her head that tells her that her house of cards is going to come tumbling down at any moment.

This is the story of how she g

BREAKING SURFACE is a sweet, romantic novella that is a delightful read and perfect for a quick little escape. Despite the length, author Emma South managed to build a strong story providing important background and a captivating scenario unfolding with her characters in the present. She gave depth to the personality of Bea and Jeremy, by showing the strength of their love and yet the vulnerability of each. She pulled me right in and drew on my emotions so I was fully invested in the outcome. I ...more

It is so hard to rate a tiny little novel...but this hit me right in the feels... I think a part of me needed this..

Breaking Surface,

There I was weeding out junk mail and lo and behold Emma South through me a bone and an ARC copy…

This little novelette is adorable. The reason we are all in love with this series is how we all relate to Bea…

“I fought it every step of the way, but I fell in love. I hadn’t thought I could love or be loved, but it happened.”

Bea is moving on with her life with Jeremy in his home in California, she still harbors the pain of the past but it's getting easier to breathe and live. Espically with Jeremy there to help her. As she goes through boxes from her past she finds reminders of her father, but will they be good for her or bad? This story shows how much Bea has healed since she met Jeremy.

I enjoyed seeing more of Bea's world and how she has dealt with her emotions over her family and also her feelings toward Jeremy a

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I read Remembering Our Song first, then Writing Our Song and now this short story. I loved everything about Bea and Jeremy and this story didn't disappoint. While this could be read as a stand-alone short story do yourself a favor and read the others first; you will fall in love with Jeremy and Bea, too. As I said in my review of "Writing" I think reading the first published book, Remembering Our Song, before the others is the wa

I was honored to receive this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Even though the author felt it could be a stand alone I believe it's best read after Our Song #1 as this book goes into the short journey of recovering the loss she experienced. Now that Beatrice has found Jeremy she "breaks the surface" to find herself. This short story really says it all and allows for the story to continue or for you as a reader to draw your own conclusions. Writing short stories can't be easy since you want ...more

I received an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a sweet short story. This novelists takes place between Writing Our Song and Remember Our Song. (If you haven't read them I suggest you do!) Beatrice is still trying to get used to life as Jeremy's girlfriend. Deciding to add her own touch to the house they share together she decides to look through her still packed boxes and finds herself taking a trip down memory lane. Along the way Jeremy helps create another memory to b

Breaking. I received the book as an ARC member in return for an honest review. I recently read Breaking Surface before the first one. The story was too short. It was a true love story. I enjoyed how Jeremy surprised Beatrice and proposed. I must read the rest of the books. I feel like I was missing something without reading the first book. I was right. So much happens to Bea before getting into a real relationship with Jeremy. "Writing our song" is a must read. I even read this book again to hav ...more

So there I was, happily outlining my next novel, one that isn’t about Bea and Jeremy, and I got this kind of mental shoulder tap. I looked around and found that there’s something else about these two that deserved to be told. Those of you who have read the novels know what Beatrice’s calling in life was. Is. This 11,500 word novelette takes place in between Writing Our Song and Remember Our Song and shows Bea and Jeremy in happier times.

I hope you enjoy it.

I received a free copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This is a look back before Bea and Jeremy's wedding. She takes a trip down memory lane remembering her father. She finds an unexpected treasure and Jeremy has a surprise of his own. A great Novelette for the Our Song series and I loved it too. If you are looking for a feel good, heart touching series, then check out Our Song series by Emma South, you will love it too.

I’m in my thirties and living in New Zealand. A little over a year ago I lost somebody very close to me. I was lucky in a way, I was given enough time to make a promise. My promise was that I would never forget our young and innocent love, and it’s a promise I intend to keep.

My writing is a way to help me keep that promise. I’ve always enjoyed writing but was forced into being ‘prudent’ and giving
