Riggins has been in love with Stella for as long as he can remember. As kids, they’d sneak out and spend long nights under the stars writing songs together, sharing their deepest confessions, and dreaming about getting out of their small town. Morgan is a born and raised Jersey girl, living there with her two boys, toddler daughter, and mechanic husband. She’s addicted to iced espresso, barbecue chips, and Starburst jellybeans. She usually has headphones on, listening to some spicy audiobook or Taylor Swift. There is rarely an in between.

Writing has been her calling for as long as she can remember. There’s a framed ‘page one’ of a book she wrote at seven hanging in her childhood home to prove the point. Her entire life she’s crafted stories in her mind, begging to be released but it wasn’t until recently she finally gave them the reigns.

I’m so grateful you’ve agreed to take this journey with me.

P.S.: to be read as a fanfiction/ love letter to Noah Kahan

“the days you can’t leave bed. can I lay in it with you?”

'All My Love' goes beyond a banal romance novel. to say I was not prepared for the emotional waves it unleashed on my heart would be an understatement. the author's dexterous prose was adept at traversing the diverse nuances associated with depression, its triggers, and its lows and highs. it hold me captive into the heroine’s degrading mental health from the opening line to the very last phrase.

“I lived for him for so long; it took me a long time to learn to live for myself.”

the narrative was sculpted around a second chance romance, ricocheting between past and present chapters. although I am not particularly fond of two timelines merging into one storyline. but through this arrangement, the depth of the protagonists' relationship, their anterior love story, the band history ascension and the main characters’ efforts to mend the fragmented pieces of their lives as mature adult versions of themselves were intricately woven together. and the romance wouldn’t have been perfectly voiced if the writing did not capture every and each detail of their past.

“I can’t do it without you, Stell.” “Do what?” I whisper. “Anything. Life.”

i loved how the author still managed to fabric an atypical story with their breaking point, their unconditional love for music and song-writing, the childhood best-friends relationship to lovers, to strangers, to friends to lovers again plot-line. and the beautiful bond and friendship the female protagonist shared with each member of the band. i’ll revisit this book whenever i’m looking for that gut wrenching feeling while reading which translates to very very soon. ❤️‍🩹 i prefer not to dive further into details because i would involuntary spoil some key parts or aspects of the storytelling.

”I’ve realized that when I’m near, he never shifts his eyes from mine, almost like he’s afraid if he does, I’ll disappear.”

many thank to Valentine PR and the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Alright, I tried. I really tried with this one.

I give up and throw in the towel at 55%. DNF.

╰┈➤˗ˏˋ The entirety of what I read went like this :

'I've been in love with Riggs since I was 5 years old' 'The stars, the stars, the stars, looking at the stars and writing.'

'I love you' 'No you don't' 'Yes, I do.' 'No, you don't' And on and on.

The one thing I really kept questioning was, how did this guy get so drunk that he didn't remember marrying 'the love of his life' in Vegas.

And then she randomly leaves because he has a drinking problem. I mean, I get it. If it was really that bad no one should have to deal with that - but there's nothing written to say that she even tried to have a conversation with him about it. Just ups and leaves.

╰┈➤˗ˏˋ AND THEN - He goes 7 years without knowing they're married? He just goes 7 years without contacting the love of his so called life? His bestfriend that he can't live without? What?

The FMC was such a pushover, totally spineless. One min she's living for the MMC and the next for her nasty asshole of a mother, trying to be perfect and letting her mom talk to her like she's the scum of the earth.

Ugh. No.

When I wasn't frustrated by all this bullshit I was bored out of my damn mind.

I just know I'm going to love this!

"It's always Riggs for Stella. Hearing her say it is like coming home, both familiar and sweet, and like hearing all of the best things in the world at once."

This book is a warm summers night, curled up under the stars with your favourite music playing in the background.

All My Love is heavily Noah Kahan coded. The chapters are named after his songs and I recommend listening to the author's playlist while reading for an enhanced experience. I felt the Notebook and Sweet Home Alabama influence in this but it was done in an insightful way. The infamous rain and home repair scenes were depicted 😍 The premise of the story follows Riggs, a hot-shot singer returning to his small hometown and reconnecting with his childhood friend, Stella.

"I wonder if she's felt it, the ache to write, the way the words come out like molasses when she's not with me but flow like water when we're together."

This is a second chance and friends-to-lovers romance. The story is told in dual timelines so you gradually begin to see what tore Riggs and Stella apart. In my opinion, this is the BEST way to handle friends to lovers/second chance romance because it makes me invested in their story and feel their connection. This man GROVELS and it was fun to watch. He calls her his little star which was super sweet, it did feel a little over-done to me at points but It didn't detract from my enjoyment. Did I mention he sends her letters?! 🥺

There is some spice in this, It felt like a good amount and might be on the vanilla side in comparison to some of her other work, however it fit the vibe of this book and it wasn't lacking at all - there was plenty of angsty moments.

I wasn't expecting this be as emotionally driven as it was, which was a pleasant surprise. This was my first Morgan Elizabeth book, however I get the sense this direction is new for her. It was personal, raw and had a deeper meaning. This was articulated in the author's note and acknowledgements.

"My life is like the ocean. Sometimes, I'm at the top, floating on my back, the fun on my face. Happy, warm. Whole. Other times, I'm in the deepest, dark blue depths, so cold I can't remember what the sun feels like anymore. I'm numb."

This book touches on some heavy themes such as alcoholism, parental mental abuse and depression. I loved the FMC so much and I found her journey with depression incredibly realistic. It's not romanticised and it's depicted in its most ugly state. The heavy themes are matched with equally beautiful moments and found family which made it wholesome.

As a massive animal lover I loved the inclusion of the adorable german shepherd, Gracie. It just added another layer to this beautiful story of two lost souls finding each other again.

"I can't wait to get to know the new version of you Stella. Make her my best friend, too."

This has been a highlight read of the year for me, books like this bring me so much joy!

Thank you Valentine PR and Morgan Elizabeth for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Quotes:

"I'm doomed in misery for hitching myself to your star."

“The days you can’t leave bed. Can I lay in it with you?”

"There she is, there's my little star. Burried deep under that mask. Gotta keep trying to break through"

"More silence and I realise that he's done speaking, lost in his thoughts or afraid to say more, it doesn't matter. He's done letting me peek into his closet of rattling bones."

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow this was so good! 😭 As a Noah Kahan girlie and someone who loves Morgan Elizabeth books, I knew I was going to love this and I’m so happy it didn’t disappoint!

I was so emotional throughout this book and I did not know happiness until the end. It was a JOURNEY!! But it was so so raw and real and I just loved it so much!

Some favorite quotes! <3

“This isn’t who I am anymore, Riggins.”
“Then I can’t wait to get to know the new version of you, Stella. Make her my best friend, too.”

“Sunflowers are amazing, you know,” he says, almost conversationally. “Even when they wilt, their stalk is so strong, they stand straight, like they don’t want anyone to know they’re suffering.” He shrugs like he’s not about to blow my world apart. “Reminds me of you.”

"I’ve always had an imbalance of some sort for as long as I can remember. I’d get sad for no reason, and it would last a bit before I’d feel good again. But even when I feel the wave of my sadness creeping up, if I’m wrapped in him, I know I’ll be okay."

“Some days, I can’t get out of bed,” I whisper. “I can’t make myself do it. My house turns into a disaster, and I don’t shower or brush my teeth.”
“Is it okay if I lay there with you?” he asks. My brow furrows, and I shake my head gently, not in a no, but because it makes no sense. “What?”
“The days you can’t leave bed. Can I lay in it with you?”

not in a reviewing mood at the moment, so I’ll keep this simple and sweet (okay, clearly I failed at that, but let’s pretend I didn’t 🤪); that epilogue was perfect for everything riggins and stella had been through and what my heart needed after their angsty, heartbreaking, up and down journey. ❤️‍🩹 also, FUCK stella’s mom! 🤬

their love is what soulmate dreams are made of and I’m so happy after 7 years of separation their love conquered all and persevered. this story brought out all the emotions and I felt the depiction of stella living with recurrent brief depression episodes and the alcoholism that riggins overcame was portrayed realistically and handled tactfully, as well.

this was a second chance romance done RIGHT in my book: the pacing, development, getting their backstory and flashbacks that added more depth and set the layers to their present selves, the way riggs groveled and was so pathetically down bad for stella always and would accept any little crumb she gave him, how he fought for her till the end and was present for her every step of the way, and especially showed her through his ACTIONS and not just words alone that he’s put in the work to be a better man for himself and for her and their future, and special shout out to stella for making riggs work for her love and trust again and not just immediately folding and giving in to him—she had such a backbone and was so strong through out this story when it came to him specifically (her mom, that’s another story 🥺), and really took her time in letting herself be with him again, officially, which made me really believe in their love and root for them so hard!! it was all executed just right, so yay for that! 🤩

this is a very angsty, super emotional second chance romance and i see a lot of reviews criticizing it for being exactly that so if you’re not into that, skip this one but it delivered exactly what it was supposed to be.

all my love was giving sweet home alabama meets the notebook meets noah kahan and whaaaat a story 🥹

stella and riggins where childhood best friends turned lovers but due to a lot of circumstances and drama, haven’t seen each other in years. when riggins is back in their hometown and finds a secret stella had been keeping from him, he’s determined to see if they can get their spark back.

this story delivered so much - real, honest struggles that people go through and how that affects the people around us, a very raw and emotional love story, a found family who i really hope we get stories for, and so much more!!!!

******i’m including some mild spoilers below because i see some people misrepresenting this book a lot and i don’t like when people do that in reviews so spoiler warning******

ow drama: when they’re first seeing each other again, she lashes out at him for sleeping around and dating someone after they ended things. he says “what was i supposed to do?”

1. the person he dated was just a PR stunt
2. it comes out later in the book that he has his own reasons for being upset with her so once you finish, it was pretty obvious to me that it was just an angry reaction to say that
3. when you find out later in the story how he’s filled their time apart, it heavily implies he has NOT been with anybody else

the MMC struggles with substance abuse: that is just a major point of the story and a reason he made mistakes when they were together. i see people criticizing this and it’s so odd??? that’s a real thing people struggle with and it’s clearly stated at the beginning so criticizing the story for showing a character mess up because of his substance abuse is really stupid tbh.

the reviews saying he’s just living his best life during their time apart while her life sucks:

1. again ****SPOILER**** i don’t think getting sober and going to rehab is like living your best life so any reviews saying that are just straight up lying or they haven’t read the book.
2. he has his reasons for being upset with her. there’s a miscommunication that gets revealed but it’s not just “oh i’m back, let me grovel” because he thinks she has wronged him too. and it’s neither of their faults when it gets revealed so it wasn’t just him being a jerk and like leaving her in the dust just because.
3. her life kind of does suck. and a big part of that reason is because her growth in this story is asking for what she wants and standing up for herself.

everything i hate about 2nd chance rockstar romances was in this book. weak pathetic ass heroine and dumbass hero

i fucking hate when the mmc’s never think they did anything wrong to make the fmc leave and have the audacity to be mad at them for leaving. HE is mad AT HER 🙄🙄
THEY GET MARRIED AND HE DOESN’T EVEN REMEMBER!!!! NEVER GOES AFTER HER!!! he’s a stereotypical alcoholic rockstar who thinks he does no wrong. she leaves him and NEVER MOVES ON. instead of living for him she starts living for her mother (trying to be perfect) SHE HAS NO SPINE. SHE FOLDS SO FAST WHEN BE COMES BACK. btw he doesn’t even come home for her. he came home to sell his parents house and finally cut ties with his hometown (aka stella as well)

she was celibate for 7 years, never moved on. who knows about him. 3% in she says how he was “fucking anything that moves” and his response was “you left what was i supposed to do” never clarified, but he would drink so much he would black out so WHO KNOWS IF HE WOULD EVEN REMEMBER since HE COULDNT REMEMBER MARRYING THE “LOVE OF HIS LIFE” when they have sex she says she’s clean, tests were clear well i’d hope so since she never moved on!! he says his tests are clean too so 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ its giving he slept with ow and that just makes me more mad so

Sadly, I struggled with this book. I struggle with second chance to begin with, but I really love Morgan Elizabeth's writing and wanted to give this a go!

I think the entire story was just not for me, but let's break it down.

What I disliked:
-OMG Stella's mother is insufferable
-I didn't love the nickname 'little star'
-For once in my life, I struggled with the 'my wife' aspect. Idk why it just felt so out of place since they were apart for so long
-There was way too much miscommunication. 7 years to be exact.

What I liked:
-Riggs loves the shit out of Stella.. even with all of the miscommunication, you can tell he loves her to pieces.
-He takes care of her!!! The scene when he does her hair had me melting
-How Riggs responds to Stella's depression is literally everything. I found myself getting so emotional during this chapter.

Sadly, this one just wasn't my cup of tea BUT I say if you normally enjoy angst and second chance, give this a go!

Highlights:
"The days you can't leave bed. Can I lay in it with you." 😭

"Sunflowers are amazing you know? Even when they wilt, their stalk is so strong, they stand straight, like they don't want anyone to know they're suffering. Reminds me of you."

I picked up this book thinking it was going to be what I have found the rest of Morgan's books that I have read to be: Entertaining, witty, an easy read. And while it still had some banter and was entertaining, this was so much more than a fun easy rom-com. This was deeply emotional, at times hard to read because of my own experiences, and incredibly heartfelt. Morgan Elizabeth put her heart into this one, and it shows.

Second chance, small town, rockstar MMC.

I teared up a bit, felt the genuine growth of the characters between the past and present, and was enraged by certain characters. This book made me feel. Well done.

All My Love by Morgan Elizabeth

5/5 stars

All My Love is the beautiful story of Riggins and Stella. Right from the get go they captured my heart and several times throughout the book I was grinning like an idiot. They are both so likeable and loveable. It was easy to fall away in their sweet, true romance. I love the entire journey they went on.

The book starts with Stella sitting in the dark on her porch and hearing a bark. Suddenly she sees Grace. The dog she shared with Riggins. And Riggins pops up right alongside her. She hugs Grace tightly. Riggins is the same, but different. They loved each other years ago. With a passion, with their souls. And he wants to talk. But Stella isn't ready for it yet.

This book has a dual timeline. We see how they were as children and young adults. We see them grow and love each other in the past. We see the heartbreak and the struggles they went through.

We see how much they ache for each other. And how longingly Riggs wants his girl back.

"Friends," she whispers.
"I know I don't deserve it, but I'm selfish. I'm selfish, and I need something from you. A part of you. I've been missing the part you took all those years ago. Give me something, something small to fill the void," I whisper.

Their story is laced in pain. Riggs deals with substance abuse and Stella is struggling with bouts of depression. I love how they are each other's anchor and true north.

"This is us, our second shot, Stella. That's what this is. Please. Take it with me."

Their story is a beautiful second chance story. With twists and turns. My lord I hated one character in particular. I cannot fathom how that person does what that person does. The same goes for the partner of that person.

"Can't see the stars without darkness, Stella."

If you want to read a beautiful, heartfelt, honest and open story. Then pick up All My Love. I love their love and how truthful they stay towards each other.

5 huge stars from me, for this beautiful story.

I have to start the review off by talking about the aesthetic of the book. Writing songs under a blanket of stars, small-town, woodsy forest vibes. PERFECT. It's giving State of Grace and Dorothea by Taylor Swift.

I'm just weak in the knees for childhood friends to lovers, second chance romance. It gets me every time. This book had such emotional substance, which I loved. Both Riggins and Stella have emotional baggage and trauma, and I loved how they were able to move on together. There were so many emotions in this book—the love and heartbreak destroyed me. I'm so glad they found each other again after seven years apart.

And my favorite quotes (screaming inside, so romantic): It's just Riggins and I, clean slates. Two stars in the universe, lighting each other's world & The brightest star in my sky has always been you little star.

I do wish there was more "showing" in the past scenes rather than telling. It made it a bit harder to connect with the characters, and I wanted to emotionally bond with them more lol.

Thank you so much to Morgan Elizabeth for sending me an ARC of All My Love. As always, my reviews are one hundred percent voluntary and all opinions are my own :)

"You've got all my love, little star. Always have, always will."

This was the first non romcom we have read by Morgan and holy shit it did not disappoint!!

Stella has been in love with Riggins since she was five years old, but he broke her heart. Stella was, quite literally, broken. She suffers from recurrent brief depression, and seeing Stella go through an episode that was so accurately depicted was refreshing. Mental heath representation is so important and Morgan did a phenomenal job.
Riggins is an addict, he's sober now but it was a long road to get there. He cleaned himself up for Stella, because he could not imagine a life without her. Stella had to let go of her fear of being hurt by Riggs again, she had to learn how to let him back in.

Their story was so full of love and heartbreak, but it was so beautiful and we absolutely loved it!

I saw Noah Kahan this weekend so this book was obviously just perfect for my concert hangover!

I love a Morgan Elizabeth read. They are quick, sweet, romantic… all the good “beach read” stuff. But this one felt more tender for sure. It tackled grief and loss, addiction, a very realistic toxic mother daughter relationship, all while staying really in balance with the second chance at love! I really enjoyed Stella and Riggs (they look like Lyla and Tim Riggins in my mind) and their HEA was satisfying for sure.

I definitely plan to keep up with the Atlas Oaks series! I’m curious to learn more about my guy Beckett!

All My Love is a second chance, childhood best friends to lovers, rockstar romance (he’s a famous musician x she’s a songwriter), which gives Sweet Home Alabama and The Notebook vibes (it’s also Noah Kahan-coded). It also includes a secret marriage!

Stella and Riggins grew up next door to one another and have been best friends for years. They have had a lot of ups and downs over the years (check CW). They write music together and we get a lot of flashbacks of their past years blended in with their present day of coming back together. There is a secret that Riggs doesn’t know about their past relationship and it was interesting to see that play out. We get lots of caretaking, him standing up to her terrible mother, his dog Gracie, him calling her “little star”, matching tattoos, etc.

This story is written with dual timelines/we have alternating chapters from present day and the past. Sometimes that would take me out of the story and I kind of wish we got all the past at once and then could focus on the present day since a lot was already going on. Definitely more of a heavy, emotional read, especially from this author. But I enjoyed it! Audiobook is narrated by Emma Wilder and Stephen Dexter, I loved their narration!

CW: alcoholism and sobriety, depression (recurrent brief depression), narcissistic parents and (off-page) death of parents. There is also a scene where the FMC is cornered by a man but no assault takes place.

This book is phenomenal.

That’s the most simple way to review this book.

Second chance, rockstar romance. Childhood friends to lovers. Mental health rep. It’s all there. The makings of an emotional romance that will leave you speechless in the end. Also, Noah Kahan coded???? Say less.

I read this book in two sittings. I knew I was going to love it so I dove immediately in. But when I thought I’d love it, I thought I’d just obsess over it for a little. But then I found out that the FMC has the same depressive episodes I have and deals with a similar family dynamic I have and I was a gonner. I was crying and just loving the way that Morgan put my own thoughts and insecurities into a book but created her a world where she was okay. I will forever appreciate her for this.

The romance between Riggs & Stella is one that will forever be with me because I love second chance romance more than life. It’s so amazing. The book is written in present time and past chapters, so you get their unwinding of past drama and issues in real time with them, but then you’ll go back in time to when it happened. Honestly, that’s how second chance should be done.

Riggs was an amazing MMC and I wanted to crawl through the pages and just hug him multiple times. I don’t want to give up much about him because he is the story that unfolds through this book.

Please read the TW before going into this book because honestly, you need to. If you have any issues with parental death or alcoholism, protect your peace. But if you can read this, read it. I cannot recommend it enough.

This book is in my top 5 contenders for BEST BOOK IVE READ THIS YEAR
Look at this point I’m already a Morgan Elizabeth STAN but this book was by far her best work

Imagine if The Notebook ended on not the most heartbreaking scene ever.
This book was it.
It was heartbreaking, soul crushing but beautiful.
Second chance romances are not usually my thing, I hold grudges and I’m stubborn 🤣
But Morgan Elizabeth did such a wonderful job making me fall in love with this story.

Riggins and Stella have left an imprint on my heart. Their story was beautiful and made me feel ALL of the feelings
ALSO the smut was smuttin. Riggins is filthy 🙌🙌🙌🙌

📖 📖 All My Love by Morgan Elizabeth
🎧 Narrated by Stephen Dexter & Emma Wilder

✨Audiobook Reread✨

This book is one that has stuck with me ever since first experiencing it 2024. Getting to experience Riggins & Stella’s story on audio was just amazing. I cried my way through their journey to HEA and I loved every minute of it! The narration by Stephen Dexter & Emma Wilder was INCREDIBLE! You could feel the characters love and emotions just resonate so perfectly. I highly recommend this story and this audiobook!

"𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦, 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘚𝘢𝘥, 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺, 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥, 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦."

Let me start my review by saying this book had my heart in a vice grip the entire story. This is the second book I’ve read from 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐡 and the difference in tones between 𝐓𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 and this story is insane. Both are amazing books, but the depth and character building in 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 are remarkable.

This story deals heavily with what it’s like to live with depression and the struggle with addiction. The story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The dual time shows us both, how Riggins and Stella fell in love and lost it, and how they found their way back to each other.

I am absolutely obsessed with this story! Riggins and Stella are heart mates, and this book gave me a vivid depiction of how they fought to get to their HEA.

Riggins is a man who fell so hard. When he gets his second chance, he is all in to help Stella in whatever way she needs. The scenes of him helping her through her episode had me sobbing.

"𝘐𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶?" 𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘴. "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵?"
"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘥. 𝘊𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶?"
🫠🫠🫠🫠

Stella’s bouts of depression and the imagery used to describe it was so enlightening and powerful. She’s such a strong woman and I love her.

I adored Stella’s relationship with the rest of the band and how they cared for her. I desperately need the next book! I am beyond excited for the next couple! 😉

Sweet Home Alabama and The Notebook coded. Second chance? SECRET MARRIAGE! Do you need to know anymore?

This might have been my favorite Morgan Elizabeth book. Seven years ago, Stella went on tour with her childhood sweetheart Riggs. And it all fell apart.

When Riggs returns to his hometown, he finds a very different Stella. He's confused about how everything changed. And Stella? She is not happy to see him. Especially now that he knows.

There's some beautiful flashbacks of the two of them growing up together, and it shows how much they cared for each other. But the rockstar lifestyle really took ahold of Riggs.

Both of these two have a LOT to work through. They've been apart for a lot of years, and there is SO much to work through from the past. Sadly, there is also so much to work through now.

Riggs has made himself into something new, and Stella herself has grown, but she still has things working against her. When she finally finds her strength, it's so cheer worthy.

I hope we get to see more from this universe!

✨ARC Review✨

There are no words to describe how utterly beautiful this book was🥺 This book ripped my heart to pieces and put it back together again in the best possible way.

Firstly the fact this book is a rockstar, second chance romance inspired by Sweet Home Alabama (which is my absolute comfort film might I add) and is Noah Kahn coded, it had me instantly hooked.

If I could describe this book in two words it would most certainly be ‘healing journey’. This book follows Riggs sobriety journey and him righting his mistakes of the past especially with the love of his life Stella and this book also follow Stella’s healing journey and the fact she can allow herself to love and have happiness once again🫶🏼

This book follows Stella and Riggs, who are childhood friends and song writers but both have not seen one another in over 7 years. The book jumps between the past and present a lot so we do get a lot of background information on Stella and Riggs relationship in the past and what ultimately caused the severing of ties. The book opens with Riggs coming back for ‘his wife’ and when I tell you I was giggling so hard👀

Riggs is home to right his wrongs of the past with Stella and is desperate to earn her forgiveness and enter back into her life. Stella has her walls held high for majority of this book, and personally she has every right to do so. Riggs hurt her massively and trust doesn’t come easy once it’s broken the first time round.

Riggs spent the entire book fighting for Stella and honestly I was here for every second of it. He held his hands up in the air and said “I f*cked up” and got the help he needed and now is back to rebuild what he destroyed.

Stella and Riggs honestly just had my heart in this book, they were so raw and real, and their love never really died even though they were apart.

I want to keep this review spoiler free but this book is an emotional rollercoaster- I was sobbing, swooning and throwing my kindle multiple times. Morgan absolutely smashed it and this book has honestly become my favourite book she’s ever written💜

Thank you so much to the author for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

₊ ⊹”i’ll always love you more. you’ve got all my love and more forever."₊ ⊹

*:・゚my thoughts┊ hmm… buckle up. i don’t even know where to begin. i honestly feel a little strange rating this so low, considering it seems like almost everyone else who has read this has really enjoyed it. i wanted that to be true for me, too, but that really wasn’t the case sadly.

this book really had potential. it’s inspired by one of my all-time favorite movies, and by songs from one of my all-time favorite artists, and yet the execution felt so wrong to me. this book was really, really, kind of too similar to one of my favorites (ghosted by j.m. darhower, if you’re wondering) and maybe i just kept comparing it to that one and it wasn’t living up to it, or i don’t know. all i know is that i’m about to reread ghosted and see if i was making up comparison’s bc i swear this felt exactly the same with a few minor changes.

firstly, someone needs to take away the phrase “under the stars” from this author. i swear to god she said that phrase 4 times in one chapter. and at least one time every other chapter. we get it!! they used to sit outside and write together!! you genuinely do not need to refer to that to show how close they were every other page.

secondly, as much as i love noah kahan (i literally was in his 0.01% of listeners on spotify last year and the year before) all of the references and allusions to his songs was just honestly so cringy. they felt so forced half of the time, and i feel like that really took away from it being inspired by his songs. she could’ve just taken a couple of concepts and ideas and made them her own, but it was like someone told her she’d win money for how many references she could fit in her book or something. this is such a weird thing to be irked by, i get it, but gosh it was annoying.

in terms of the actual story itself, it just fell flat for me. i feel like this author is great at telling her audience information rather than showing them, which makes her books seem so flat. there’s no real depth or emotion to them, which was really important in this book. this is set up to have so much angst and tension, and everyone else said it was really emotional, but i felt almost none of that. i was supposed to be rooting for this couple to get back together when i didn’t feel a shred of chemistry between them or love, despite her trying to tell us that otherwise. like, stella had two personality traits: she was depressed, and she wouldn’t stand up to her mom. and everyone kept saying that wasn’t the stella they knew, but we never found out what she used to be like!! there was nothing. and riggins (genuinely what the fuck kind of name is this, too?) was literally just a former alcoholic in a famous band who couldn’t really take no for an answer for awhile. that’s it.

every single chapter felt like the same things were happening. riggs would show up, he’d try flirting with stella to get her to talk to him, she’d blow him off, they’d randomly kiss, she’d say she needed space, he’d refuse but then sometimes listen, they’d have the same conversation over and over again. all of the emotional talks and moments felt so forced to me. they were all like heavy info/trauma dumps, especially from riggs.

another thing i hated were the flashback chapters, which were solely only there for the author to make a point or a specific reference in the previous or next chapter. they literally did nothing to help the story or show the relationship between characters. this honestly would’ve fared a lot better without them, in my opinion.

probably the one thing i did like was the depression representation in this book. the comparison to it being like floating in water, with some days you’re treading the water and others you’re swept underneath it… i really connected with that. probably the only reason i’m giving this two stars instead of one. i really enjoyed seeing riggs take care of stella when she was having one of her episodes, too. that was like when they had the most connection between them.

overall, i could see the idea but the execution just really fucking fell flat to me. i guess i either really love or really hate morgan elizabeth’s books, which is why i continue to pick them up because i genuinely never know. i’m pretty sad i didn’t love this one, especially when it seems like so many others did. i don’t know why i couldn’t, but alas, i didn’t. it definitely had potential 🥲

Without a doubt, this is my most favorite Morgan Elizabeth book yet!

This is one of the MOST beautiful books I have ever read. The way Morgan wrote about Stella's depression was so encompassing of some of my own experiences, it made me feel so seen. Morgan wrote about addiction and mental health with such care.

I absolutely loved the way this story was told through dual timelines as we watched Stella & Riggins fall in love and what ultimately led to their demise, and then find their way back to each other, oof I could weep. It was so angsty it made my chest hurt in the best way.

In my opinion, this is some of Morgan's best storytelling and you just can't help but root for Stella and Riggins throughout the course of the book. And of course, they were so hot too! I just cannot say enough good things about this book because I absolutely adored it. I cannot wait to grab a physical copy and annotate the hell out of it!!

Thank you SO much to Morgan for the ARC!!! ily <3

Not sure what to write spoilers maybe

Just finished this book and while I cried alot, I am just not sure if I really liked it. I know her Mother interfered and Caused grief but all he had to do was go see her just once and Confirm what happened but he didn't. And he did say to her she left so he could do whatever he wanted, and I never heard him say he was celibate. Ever. She did but he used that line twice to her. So I don't know if he was celibate or not. I mean he kept saying he did everything to get over her. I just don't know what to think. They did love each other and I'm glad it was an HEA but I just don't feel it like I normally due. I skimmed over the sex scenes because I didn't think they were romantic but that's just me. So many holes in the story for me. Missing things but everyone else is giving it five. I feel bad for not loving it but I didn't. I actually felt depressed. And I hated her Mom! Evil witch. I'm glad she stood up to her. And the, reason I gave it three stars was Gracie!!!! I love dogs.

I skimmed it since 30% I think, I wanted more angst, more suffering from his part. Also I felt he was too condescending at times and the fuck was this🤨:

“She’s a free spirit, little star,” I remember him saying. “Just like you; she always comes back to me.”

h being "little star" and "she" their dog 😐🤷

oh wow. this might be the most angst-filled and, dare i say, heartachingly beautiful book morgan has written to date.

riggs was such a simp for stella, and I LOVED IT. he refused to give up and let her go, and for every time she pushed back he showed her just how much he had changed, and how hard he was willing to fight for her. it was so sweet to see how he supported her and took care of her - and though i love an independent and self-sufficient queen, sometimes you just need someone to lean on, and that’s okay. the way he embraced his own vulnerability as well was so beautiful, and i really appreciated how he owned up to his past mistakes. they both had their faults, and i so appreciated seeing them both hold each other accountable.

another thing i really loved was the way riggs and stella dealt with her mental illness and how it was depicted. depression isn’t pretty, but morgan’s portrayal of it in this book was so painfully real and honest, and i felt like i could really relate to her character. i loved everything about this book 🥹🫶🏼

thank you so much for the arc, morgan 💜
