The job, the job, the job. Focus on the job. Be the job. Or else. It was all she was, a mechanical, hollow nothing that did anything needed to prevent the else.
To win this, he’d play her game until, eventually, hopefully, they played on the same side.
He looked at her like he could save her. Maybe he could.
“Someday, I hope to matter to you, because you are the only one who matters to me. You will always be mine, Liv.”
She called it love. Her heart didn’t fall. It flew.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
“Requirement One. Slave has never experienced sexual intimacy with a woman. Slave is heterosexual but hates women. He desires only his Master.”
“He represented purity, beauty, family, all of the things that had been taken from her. He was a glimmer of goodness in her dark fucking world, a warm spark she could hold, if only for a fleeting span of time.”
“She was stolen innocence, following the rules of monsters. Somewhere along the way, she’d become one.”
“I knew you weren’t the right choice for this.” She met his eyes and found her way. “You were the right choice for me.”
She was stolen innocence, following the rules of monsters. Somewhere along the way, she’d become one.
He represented purity, beauty, family, all of the things that had been taken from her. He was a glimmer of goodness in her dark fucking world, a warm spark she could hold, if only for a fleeting span of time.
"Fulfilling their promise. They'd made a deal with God. If He gave them a child, they vowed to raise their miracle to be a servant of His church in Baptist ministry."to willing taking a strap-on up the ass and wanting to be beat for pleasure.
"He represented purity, beauty, family, all of the things that had been taken from her. He was a glimmer of goodness in her dark fucking world, a warm spark she could hold, if only for a fleeting span of time."
"You said you freed me, but freedom isn't defined by chains or walls. You, alive, with me. That's my freedom."
Deliver is the second book I've read by Pam Godwin and it was once again a winner for me. An original storyline, the author's easy flowing, lyrical writing style and two amazingly strong but complex main characters made this easily one of my favorite reads of 2014 so far!
I don't want to give too much away about the storyline because that would ruin your reading experience. The blurb pretty mush says it all. Even though this book might not be for everyone, I would highly recommend giving it a try! You just have to dive in and let the experience wash over you. If you're a fan of "dark romance reads" like I am, you won't regret it. :)
"She was a deliverer, a killer, a soulles captor."
"She was a demon in the form of the most beautiful girl on earth."
"He was a glimmer of goodness in her dark fucking world, a warm spark she could hold, if only for a fleeting span of time."
"Mistress, I love your smile. If I could free it once a day, it might make the next ten weeks bearable."
But thankfully, there were also plenty of "mellower" scenes that allowed Liv and Josh the time to grow closed and develop their relationship. The combination of the two constantly kept me on guard, wondering what was going to happen next.
This book made me go through so many emotions; I felt like I was right along there with Josh and Liv, living through both their sides of the story and having no clue as to how the story could possibly end. All the tension, anguish, pain and despair made me clutch my heart and hope for a miracle. But the slowly developing bond and relationship between Liv and Josh prevented this story from ever becoming to dark or depressing.
"When it's just you and me, lose all those guarded layers. Let me see you."
“Nothing compared to the freedom of floating in his arms.
He would say the hand of God was holding them up, delivering them.
She called it love. Her heart didn’t fall. It flew.”
Her name is Liv, and his name is whatever she wants it to be. She is a Deliverer. She lures young men and delivers them to be sold. She delivers the strikes that enforce their obedience. She delivers the sexual training that determines their purchase price.
As long as she delivers, the arrangement that protects her family will hold. Delivering is all she knows.
The one thing she won't deliver is a captive from slavery.
Until him. And the stubborn boy thinks he can deliver her...from herself.
"She was stolen innocence, following the rules of monsters. Somewhere along the way, she'd become one."
"Trapped in paranoia, she was terrified to make a mistake, her every action watched, judged, and used to threaten her family."
"He would concentrate his attention on observing what she was hiding and hearing what wasn't being said. He would study her face and learn her expressions… What were his limits? How much could he endure before he despised her so much he lost himself in hate? .... To win this, he'd play her game until, eventually, hopefully, they played on the same side."
"Don't you see how wrong I am? I'm a kidnapper. A murderer. A fucking monster."
"I see all of you… I claim every jagged piece of you."
"I -- " she kissed the spot over his heart, leaned up, and kissed his lips, softly, breathlessly, "-- you."
His heartbeat catapulted, strumming every cell in his body. "You, too, girl."
She was stolen innocence, following the rules of monsters. Somewhere along the way, she'd become one.I love reading dark books especially when they have a twist. The ending of DELIVER did not disappoint because it had several twist along the way. Being shocked is one of the many thrilling things about reading a dark book.
She was stolen innocence, following the rules of monsters. Somewhere along the way, she’d become one.
“It’s ugly in there, decayed by lies and shame, endlessly bleeding for all the lives I’ve ruined. You’re the eighth reason I don’t deserve affection.”
“Gives me chills, Liv. Every damned time. Your beauty isn’t just an experience for the eyes. It breathes through the ears and evokes a reaction so consummating it claims the soul.”
“I can feel you.” He leaned back, inhaled deeply. “Inside me. Everywhere. You own me. You will always own me, and I will walk through hell to keep it that way.” Eyes on the road, her breath shivered from her lungs, cracking her voice. “You own me, too.” “I know.” He pinned her with those mesmerizing pale eyes.
“I stand here without rope or chains, Liv, tethered to you by my own will.” His blood beat with the ferocity of his words. “I won’t be free until you are.”
She was a deliverer, a killer,
a soulless captor.
"Joshua Carter no longer exists...For the next ten weeks, your name is whatever I want it to be."A slave, trained to become obedient and ready to service his new master. Joshua is scared and angry, but has no choice but to follow the rules if he wishes to survive and keep his family safe.
He looked at her like he thought he could save her. Maybe he could. Except he was supposed to despise her.

I claim every jagged piece of you."
