I was genuinely excited for their wedding, but I feel like there was unnecessary drama mixed within and when we finally got to the ceremony, it all happened so fast –I’m hoping the anime adaptation will do a better job at this.

What I did like about this volume was being able to see how much Miyo has grown, how she is part of the Kudou family and how she broke off her shelf and became this beautiful person Kiyoka is married to.

I feel like they both still have a lot of things to overcome but I’m glad they had learned to talk things through and I do hope both of them can have their happily ever after –they deserve it.

Overall, there were cute moments between them (like Kiyoka wanting to touch and kiss her and asking for consent) and I’m so happy they’re finally husband and wife.

There’s still one volume left, so I’m praying it will end with a nice note.

We finally get what we've been waiting SEVEN volumes for!

I have to say, I'm kinda surprised that the series is going to continue after this volume; the last couple of volumes have gone a little stale for me and it felt like their wedding and their falling in love was the ultimate goal, so now that we've reached that, what more is there to see? Obviously, I know from where this volume led us, it'll be with more grotesqueries, but ok...?

IDK I'M FEELING INDIFFERENT, OK?

That was a weird conflict that kinda ended like a cliffhanger, but thank Christ they finally got married! I dunno how I did it, but I managed to pull through the juvenile prose and flat dialogue. Imagine the face crack when I found out there's a volume 8. 🫥 Is there an end to this at all?!

The most random one of the series

I can confidently say that I'm in the top 20 of MHM fans, I've read EVERYTHING, the manga, the novels, watched the anime (how I entered the world) and watched the live action. Kiyoka and Miyo are my babies, I want all the happiness in the world for them 💗
BUT, I am disappointed with this volume 😭💔
If you read this series, you will know how emotional and moving the story is, how beautiful the couple is.....my main problem is that I feel that this moving love story.....would have made for a MUCH more emotional wedding.

First, we start with the prologue, I was literally ABOUT to sob,It's a story that makes me CRY just at the thought of Miyo becoming Miyo Kudo.
After the prologue we start with the next problem, Miyo and her indecision. Miyo is a character that for me, I empathized A LOT WITH HER, many people hated her in volume 5, for being afraid to accept their feelings, but this was something super moving for me, because I also come from a complicated family, in short, my father died due to being unfaithful to my mother and even after all that my mother stayed with him until the day of his death, bearing all the mistreatment and greed of my paternal family, my mother is not a saint either, she took my sister as the object of her rage and frustration because of how dry my father was, I was born in the middle of a reconciliation, my parents had divorced and due to things in life, I was born, my father died when I was about to turn 4 years old, the truth is, I feel guilty because being alien to the whole situation until recently, I always remembered my father and I feel that I forced my mother to think about the person who did so much harm to her :(, today we are a united family, my mother asked my sister for forgiveness and they told me the whole truth, but I carry the guilt of being the one who tied my mother to stay with my father and being so alien to the pain of my sister and mother. That said, I empathize a lot with Miyo about the fear of ending up like her family, of ending up like my mother, a woman who gave everything to the man she loved and ended up becoming someone who caused pain. BUT ALREADY IN THIS VOLUME, I found it impossible to emphasize with her, it's like "Come on girl! It's been a year since you met him, you've kissed and been in awkward situations, AND YOU CAN'T TELL HIM BY HIS NAME!?" (Taking as a reference that the nickname "darling" refers to Kiyoka's name, since according to the original language, she always called him Lord Kudo, but in the English translation, this was lost since volume 3 or 2)

Then the scenes where they get "affectionate", I was laughing out loud, I couldn't believe Kiyoka was doing that, literally my reaction was something like 👁👄👁, I don't like smut, but I clearly LOVE KIYOKA 💗💗, also, it's nothing explicit or something that makes me embarrassed to read, BUT, Miyo starts crying, and it kind of ruins my whole mood, she's like "Yeah I'm happy, I like his touch, but my emotions are overflowing" AND I'M LIKE "GIRL, WHY!??? YOU'RE LITERALLY GOD'S FAVORITE, DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I WOULD GIVE TO BE IN YOUR PLACE!???" HOW I HATED IT WHEN KIYOKA GOT SAD, the "wanted to cry, but he felt like he didn't deserve it" Hahaha my parents (Kazushi and Godo) teasing him was super funny, and Kiyoka being sad is super cute

Then, THE BLESSED CHARM THAT MADE HER CURSE KIYOKA, I know a lot of people found it funny, but honestly I thought it was unnecessary and I said something like "If this hadn't been MHM, I would have completely thrown away the reader because of the cringe it gave me."

Kiyoka disappointed me a little in this volume, I feel that ignoring Kimio, who suffered domestic abuse, is going too far, it's okay that he's cold and all, but not that he's insensitive :( , although Kimio was not a saint either and it was not Kiyoka's area, that thought of Kiyo to just being nice with Miyo is very annoying, and, althoug, he is my favorite character at the moment.

LET'S TALK ABOUT KIYOKA AND GODO'S RELATIONSHIP, PLEASE!!! THAT "OLDER BROTHER KIYO" WAS THE MOST PRECIOUS THING, HOW I ADORE THEM, I NEED TO SEE MORE ABOUT THEM AS BROTHERS FROM ANOTHER MOTHER

Then the wedding, I feel like it WAS TOO FAST, That cliche of Kiyoka not arriving was absolutely stressful, it's like, they are the most beautiful RELATIONSHIP ever written, you can't do this to me, I felt like, they arrived, drank sake, looked at each other and said "I love you" without words, banquet, Koji and Kaoruko and READY, This SHOULD be something that makes me cry, something that is expected throughout the series, and it just lacked something, that little bit that makes me cry and feel moved by the beautiful love story, they deserved MUCH more, I was listening to "Young and beautiful" by Lana del rey and I said "This is the right song I will cry 100%, AND JUST NO!!! It was not the wedding that such a beautiful couple like Kiyoka and Miyo deserved, the whole Kimio thing stole some MUCH NEEDED time.

Then the wedding night, OMG, beautiful, but I feel a little uncomfortable that they refer to Miyo as "naive and innocent" I feel that this type of things have to have the consent of both, although Miyo knew and accepted it, I did not like that they refer to her in that way.

Then the most random thing for me, Kimio stabbing Miyo and being saved by the power of love, it's like, how random that a character comes out of nowhere, grabs the protagonist and takes out a knife to proceed to stab her in the breast, and that the amulet that Kiyoka gave her saved her, for me it doesn't make any sense, if an amulet had that power, why didn't Kiyoka give it to Miyo when Usui had her in his sights? The whole thing about her almost getting her neck slit had been fixed with a strong amulet like that? Then why wasn't her amulet that strong from the beginning? Same in this scene, I think we ALL knew that if one of them died, the other would hang himself or herself from the nearest tree, and I think this is super touching, but in such a random and meaningless scene, it doesn't have that emotion, this should have been when Kiyoka was accused of treason or when Usui almost took Miyo :/

The last scene is beautiful, but I feel that because of all the previous problems, and especially the wedding being so quick, I couldn't enjoy it as I should.

In short, very meh and somewhat cringe, but as it is Mhm, I love this, I would have stopped reading halfway if it weren't for the fact that it's my favorite series and because I've been waiting for this volume since March.

Very nervous about the future of the series and how well volume 8 will do as a collection of short stories.

Even after this disappointment, Mhm has a very special place for me and that will not change. I hope that the author Agitomi can resolve these details in the future. My unconditional support for the series and looking forward to more of the series. 💗💗

I love this series, but this one just felt different. It seemed like the author couldn't do a full dive into the happy day and write the story from there, so drama was thrown in, and as a result the drama felt forced.

I think this volume would have worked better overall had the author either committed to: this is a happy day let me tell you all about it, or: it's supposed to be a happy day and bad things happen, but life goes on and they'll get through it.

I still recommend it and enjoyed it and am waiting to see what is coming for the happy couple.

I know this was the promised "wedding" volume, but I really feel like the plot gets weaker with every installment. And what could we possibly need more volumes for?

I've loved this series so far, but this book felt a little off. The whole curse thing was weird and it was frustrating as a reader to be building up to a happy ending, but to then for that ending to constantly be thwarted. I also felt like we saw less of Miyo and Kiyoka and more of the side characters, which I can't complain too much about since they are fun to read about.

3/5❤️ 1/5🌶️
I loved the beginning and also the ending scene but everything in between was just too much. We had to much trouble in the other books it’s okay for both of them to have some peace especially between each other.

“Kiyoka wanted to show kindness and concern only to Miyo. As long as she loved him, nothing else mattered to him in the slightest.”
Ahhh this man😭❤️

Jesus the tension in this volume is insane!!! Had me all blushing and flustered! Until one fatal scene🫥:
What is starting to really bother me is Miyo‘s constant embarrassment whenever they interact with the slightest sign of love showing. He takes her hand and she is already so flustered that she runs away and we’re in book fucking 7. Dear lord the innocent act is getting old and super annoying.
“…In fact, I…I h-hate you…!”
“I didn’t take you for being so lecherous!”
“You’re shameless! I can’t believe it!”
This is what she threw at his head after he apologized for a situation in which he was really near her and asked if it’s okay for them to go a step further than the occasional peak on the lips. Bro didn’t do anything, ask for permission and when she gave a clear no he immediately backed off. And yet the angel herself acts like he is the biggest pervert. I hate this turn of storyline🫠.
“While Miyo had raged, a thought had impudently crossed Kiyoka’s mind: that she was adorable, lovely.”
Get a grip girl this is the man you’re talking to.
And than I realized like the fool I am (even though at the time she got it I suspected it but then it immediately slipped my mind) that Miyo actually got a bad curse…my bad I should’ve come to that conclusion earlier. But this turn of storyline was still super annoying and unnecessary. Let them have a bit of peace for once.

Also what the hell was the wedding scene. He wants to quit work so he can spent more time with Miyo but literally minutes before his wedding ceremony he chooses work over Miyo??!?!! That feels so out of character and was only added to create a new last minute drama🙄.
This was the absolute weakest book so far. I‘m majorly disappointed.

This curse business seems to have a heavier impact on Miyo than might be clearly visible, especially as she reverts to silence and fear, which also isn't helped by her lingering insecurities and inability to verbally express herself, even though she's been with Kiyoka a year and all other claims are that she's growing into her power and position and happy with him. It is rather astonishing that Kiyoka didn't see it to begin with, but his father picked up on it right away. If anything, Kiyoka seems to be struggling himself in his eagerness to be with Miyo and his remaining duty to the military. For awhile there, it really did seem like things were going to fall apart, though the author did promise this would be a happy installment, so of course we finally see the wedding. We even hear from several characters from Miyo's past in this story, though only a few of them were known from previous volumes, so we have some new characters as well. The windy and turbulent story in this volume even has some familiar faces stepping forward and asking if there's anything wrong between the couple or if Kiyoka has upset Miyo. Seems like a bit of regression here, though it's let go much faster than in the past. The story certainly isn't over yet though, so hopefully we'll see things pick back up again and move forward as they adjust to married life.

Ah, we finally get the volume that the IT - the happy marriage between Kiyoka and Miyo!

This volume was interesting. The Usui storyline wrapped up, and I felt like this was a way to segue into the moment we were finally waiting for. It was an interesting volume, and I wonder if the plot will surface within the next few. (Like many others, I am surprised it it going on after this.)

So...as English readers, we need to remember that this is a translation. I do find the writing to be a bit dry at times, but I think that has to be forgiven because we aren't reading it in the native tongue. There were some moments that were described very beautifully, but some that were still just 'eh.'

The end of the novel was definitely the interesting. I enjoy how these two interact with each other, and there were some parts that were very enjoyably to read. We even get a surprise cameo by a few interesting characters. And I know this novel is technically 13+ but... But we have to respect the author's style, and this overall can be so painstakingly cute / fluffy at times that I understand this just isn't the vibe.

I'm sure the anime will do a great job translating this onto the screen!

I want to love this book more than I do but I have one serious qualm with it. It feels rushed and like we are getting a ton of detail and none at all at the same time. The Earth Spider is made out to be the next big villain our love birds will have to face. Yet it feels very much like it’s thrown in there half heartedly. The main “problem” of the story is that Kiyoka is late to the wedding. And you expect there to be a good reason. But then it’s just, “no hes being stubborn and putting work ahead of Miyo but don’t worry he still makes it in time and there’s no real consequence”. Overall I felt like the main plot “problem” or “drama” I suppose felt rushed and I was a bit disappointed. And then I hit the last 5 pages and I was reminded how good of a writer Agitogi is! So I’m confused! Maybe it’s just the English translation that’s making this one feel a little out of joint but I can’t wait to see what the next installment brings!

And finally the wedding💕

Would I love a tiny bit of spice, something more than just an innocent kiss? Sure I would, but one can't expect too deep feelings from Japanese literature.

There wasn't much to say about the previous 4 volumes as they included events of the second season of the anime. Right — 4 volumes turned into 13 (?) episodes. It speaks volumes, but at least there was some action.

Anyway, I'm honestly enjoying this. It's easy-peasy reading that doesn't need much thinking. Volumes are pretty short and easy to devour in just a few hours. The reader can guess the upcoming events as well as how things end up, so really relaxing reading without unnecessary stress. As a Cinderella-inspired story sucker, this is the ideal series and big plus it's getting translated into English. I can only recommend it.

My Happy Marriage is one of my favourite manga series of all year round. I can get enough of Miyo and Kiyoka awkward cute romance as they grow from being first time loves to husband and wife. Each volume has enough soppy romance to keep me on my edge for the next volume especially with the stunning front cover designs each a work of art.

I am happy I stumbled upon this cute series and even more to find in the New Year there is going to a short stories collection of my favourite manga couple to add to the collection. I look forward to reading the rest of the manga series too in the New Year. I start by reading the light novels first.

I think this book was a lot of fluffy filler but I preferred this more than the previous two which had a larger overarching plot. I just love Miyo and Kiyoka.

The ending with the Kimio was dramatic and unexpected. Why did it need to happen? It's as if Miyo done something very traumatic in elementary school, because that reaction was so over the top when they are both strangers.

I kind of think that the series can end here...

Interesting that in this book they delved into an piece of Miyo's powers that we didnt know about that makes total sense. Ngl its hard to tell if book 8 is the last one or not bc there is potential to keep going with Kiyoka and Miyo’s story.

He is happy that she was comfortable enough to be mad at him. Perfect man.
They are finally married

"She wasn’t a fiancée anymore. She was one half of a romantic partnership, of a family who lived together. Husband and wife—that was what Miyo and Kiyoka’s relationship would be called from this day onward."

It was OK. The scenes were cute and there was drama. Not much movement plot-wise and their wedding was SO SHORT. I did not get much of their married life at all and then volume 8 sucked because it barely contained anything about their married life either!!! Ugh

Also there are multiple spelling mistakes and confusing sentences. Poor editing on the English translated version. Bruh.

Always pulling on my heartstrings. The anxiety I felt as the wedding scene approached...phew.

Miyo reminds me of Tohru from Fruits Basket, the story that got me into this world of Japanese arts. I have nothing but good feelings for this story.

This really could've ended with book 6. Book 7 was incredibly boring and had unnecessary drama to drag out the wedding. Miyo also has a dream that doesn't amount to anything and seems thrown in there just to show that she still has Spirit Sight.

So so so so good!

Really loved how things were wrapped up with a bow. The relationship makes me so happy and they spent just enough time to make all the pain worth it. I'm so happy! This is a series worth owning. I'm waiting for the TV show and manga to catch up!

I enjoyed the serie tremendously until this one. Although the end was satistying, it dragged for a very long time and the "action"/danger was forced. Also, the text was too repetitive in this volume: there was little news and barely any evolution of characters, compared to the last volumes.
