This collection of new poems & short stories includes a number of award winners.
David J. Delaney is a superb craftsman wielding the written word. His poems in this collection run the gamut from haiku to sonnet, from verse to rhyming interlaced with prose stories. An extremely sweet mix from a seasoned writer who writes realism from the depths of his soul and always straight from his heart. This book is Another Chapter in the ongoing literary saga of David J. Delaney and well worth the read.
Queensland based author David J Delaney has in this volume created a mix of poems and short stories to inspire and delight all readers.
From No Longer Will They… on page 37 which tells of the school shooting tragedies and the lack of gun control in the US; the laugh out loud humour in Sea of Gold on page 43; The Cocky and Morrie on page 55 with the sweet triumph of revenge and justice served; the absolute delight of Mac and Jack on page 82 when youngsters “do the right thing” and are well rewarded in kind; through to Tony the Wog’s Mango Tree on page 94, a wonderful story of mischief, fear of being found out and what happens when the truth emerges.
There are many more sweet and powerful moments in this collection by internationally published Aussie author David J Delaney to enjoy, and enjoy them I did. David’s work is thought provoking, full of beauty and his love of nature shines through. He has drawn on his youth for inspiration, with the mischief and humour of his early years a highlight. I have no hesitation in recommending Another Chapter highly.
With thanks to the author for my copy to read and review.
Another Chapter, is a poetic treat from David J. Delaney, one of Australia's greatest living poets. He proves the depth of his poetic skill in rhyme, prose, haiku and short storytelling that takes in both world events and stories in his native land. Delaney's poetry puts us in these landscapes and the experiences of memorable characters and moments in it, both good and bad. He makes us feel part of what connects the past, present and future. He puts us in its moods, places and rhythms, moves us to tears, laughter and understanding. In Another Chapter, Delaney gives us the voice of the Bush Poets, but transcends his style and themes to successfully reach out to a wider world audience. Highly recommended.
David J. Delaney is a great Australian Poet and genuine, down to earth, true blue Aussie. I admire his great ability to tell stories of our beautiful country. His poems were very inspiring, full of humor and entertaining. Reading his work I feel proud to be an Aussie and being part of the unique culture and beautiful native landscapes. Highly recommended.
I remember when you had your first ever release party for your first book which was self published (which I can't see in the list on here) My Small Book of Poems, your family was so proud. All the hard work that paid off, I knew then that it was only going up for you and look where you are now, gallivanting around in the van with the boss gathering new back ground material that we will read about in your future compilations.
