'Project X, Origins' is a ground-breaking guided reading programme for the whole school. Action-packed stories, fascinating non-fiction and comprehensive guided reading support meet the needs of children at every stage of their reading development.
I read this ebook on Oxford Owl and it was recommended for ages 6-7. It was a decent story, apparently part of a little series, that seems very made-for-school. When one of the boys gets shrunk down to the size of a worm he has a scary encounter with a centipede. The fictitious tale introduces some interesting science facts about composting and insects and even includes a joke page at the end. This may especially appeal to boy readers. Though it is interesting and does have a place in a classroom setting, I don't really see a students taking this home or a parent buying it for their child. Perhaps they would if the story were a little more developed (I know, it's for 6-year-olds and I also haven't read the other books in the series that I didn't know existed until afterwards...which is unfortunate because this isn't the first one). Also, the illustrations could be nicer.
