Rate this book
Many Christian singles struggle with loneliness, physical desires, and expectations. The world has answers to all of these needs, but so does the Bible. In Single Servings , author Lee Warren, himself an unmarried thirty-something, offers ninety devotionals for single Christians who find themselves pressured by one or more of these challenges. He takes an honest look at the struggle as well as the benefits of the single life, never attempting to minimize the realities of being single but always pushing the reader to find ultimate satisfaction in Christ and the church. Why would a married woman read a book for single people?
After reading one of the author’s other books, “Common Grounds,” I wanted his insight into the lives of my unmarried friends.
I discovered things that hadn’t occurred to me.
How do my friends truly feel at weddings? Holiday celebrations? What’s it like going home to an empty house?
Lee sheds light on struggles that single people sometimes face, like a false sense of incompleteness.
This book takes an honest look at dealing with emotions.
It addresses the longings for love, of physical and emotional desires, and recovery from bad choices.
He shares the truth that “alone” doesn’t need to equate with “lonely.”
Lee offers tangible options, like his ideas to eradicate the post-wedding blues.
Hope fills each chapter as he shares steps to choose a life filled with the Lord’s joy, abundance, and freedom.
I recommend this book to singles at every stage of their walk with the Lord, and for married people who care about their single friends.
