Joe Konrath has written over twenty novels in the Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels thriller series. They do not have to be read chronologically to be enjoyed, but the order is: Whiskey Sour, Bloody Mary, Rusty Nail, Dirty Martini, Shot of Tequila, Fuzzy Navel, Cherry Bomb, Dead On My Feet, Serial Killers Uncut (with Blake Crouch), Shaken, Stirred (with Blake Crouch), Dying Breath, Everybody Dies, Rum Runner, Last Call, White Russian, Shot Girl, Chaser, Old Fashioned, Bite Force, and Witch Brew. More coming soon.
Wow, that's a lot of Jack.
If you like your thrillers on the dark side, check out the Konrath Dark Thriller Collective, which includes the books The List, Origin, Afraid, Trapped, Endurance, Haunted House, Webcam, Disturb, What Happened To Lori, The Nine, Second Coming, and Close Your Eyes.
Joe also wrote the Stop A Murder mystery puzzle series, where you become the sleuth and solve brain teasers to try and catch a killer.
He also wrote the sci-fi trilogy, Timecaster, Timecaster Supersymmetry, and Timecaster Steampunk. Even if you don't think you like sci-fi, give them a try. They feature Joe's well-known characters from his other series, and are insane.
With Ann Voss Peterson he wrote the Codename: Chandler thrillers, including Flee, Spree, Three, Hit, Exposed, Naughty, Fix (with F. Paul Wilson), Rescue, and Free.
And, finally, he writes erotica under the pen name Melinda DuChamp, also with Ann Voss Peterson. Those books are probably too spicy for you, so only the brave and bold should seek them out.
Joe writes a lot. You should probably read everything.
I loved these so much. The first one I had read before. I loved how the last one incorporated characters from the ones before! Konrath and Kilborn have always been some of my favorites and I am working my way through the back half of this series and enjoying the ride.
Once again, fabulous stories by Konrath. I LOVE him. Now I will admit that The List was his weakest of all his books so far. I just didn’t find that one very scary and it was a bit boring at times. But the other two stories were wonderful. The Origin was so freaking crazy and scary and I loved the storyline and the crazy creatures. I also loved the ending. Very surprising and terrifying. And The Haunted House allowed me to see where my favorite characters of all the prior books were and I loved the storyline. I was so happy to see Duncan and his dog and monkey from Afraid again. I thought that story was a great finale and there was so much horror there. There were also a few good twists too. Awesome book!
This was a very good read! All three stories were page turners, but the last one was a doozy! There was mystery, suspense, horror, and just enough comic relief to keep your blood pressure from becoming too over heated! I would definitely recommend this book, but not for the faint of heart or easily scared.😉
The only 'wish' is that I'd read the other books that were referenced in this one. Again, great read. Really.
I really enjoyed these stories but I cannot understand why writers have to go overboard. It's a lot like king and koontz books where you really get into it then they throw in something so bizarre and totally unbelievable and ruin a good thriller! That's what happened in every story here. I found myself skimming pages to get thru all the crap. All in all it could've been a really great 5 star book if it wasn't for the overkill.
Terror/thriller books of a different order. Once you get past the shock factor of Konrath/Kilborn's writing, where he isn't afraid to introduce readers to the horrors that CAN and DO actually happen in real life. This trilogy contains SOME fantasy factors that aren't "real life", but over all, Konrath delivers an eerily realistic tale.
Seriously!! I cannot explain how completely, totally in love I am with this author!! The stories grip you tight from the beginning and don’t let go until they conclude!! If you love horror the way I do, you’d thoroughly enjoy these well written, very original and amazing books!
Sorry J.A. Konrath. I made it through the Origin, barely through The List and just could not get into Haunted House. I am a huge fan! Which makes this review hard to write. These 3 books were disappointing to me because they were boring compared to all your other books I have read. Not enough suspense or mystery. Just not thrilling.
This book is an AWESOME read!! THREE DEFINITELY THREE SCARY STORIES that will hook you on Konrath forever!! The best part, is that he will bring back characters from other books. Totally a book to read with the lights on....LOL
This trilogy is non-stop adventure! While it is somewhat gory, the stories themselves are really intriguing. The characters are well-written and draw you into their battles. I look forward to reading more of Konrath's books!
All 3 of these books were great reads, I have to say that The List was my favorite of the 3! The concept was new & fresh, great story line & characters. The comic relief was laugh out loud in the face of a gripping thriller. Well done!
Dark and twisted at times the author wastes little time and gets you in the plot. The only fault I can find here is that at times the stories get a bit predictable, however all in all its worth reading.
Fantastic started out crazy great read slowed down just a little and we t right back into crazy good if you want the unexpected this Will keep you on the edge you will not expect this ending
