When Elmer the patchwork elephant hears a terrible roar in the forest, he goes to investigation. However, he keeps running into animals heading in the other direction to get away from the monster who's making the heart-stopping sound. What will Elmer find and will he live to tell the tale?
A nice story with a happy ending and beautiful illustrations. Though I did get a little confused about why Bloo-Bloo was scared. Had to read that bit twice.

Историята е за това как може да се плашиш от нещо непознато, а то всъщност да е по-уплашено от теб. При Елмър обаче любопитството надделява и успява да разбере от къде всъщност идва този силен рев.

Cute story with silly pictures. Elmer helps the other animal friends realize that you shouldn't be afraid of someone or something without first getting to know them.

A cute story about facing one's fears, Elmer style.

I absolutely loved *Elmer and the Monster*! As a big fan of David McKee’s work, this one didn’t disappoint. It’s such a charming story with that classic Elmer charm—full of colour, warmth, and a gentle message about friendship and bravery. My kids (and honestly, I did too) giggled at the idea of a friendly monster and Elmer’s clever way of helping him feel at home. The illustrations are as vibrant and playful as ever, making it a real joy to look at. Perfect for reading aloud and sparking conversations about accepting others who are different. Definitely a five-star read in my book—I’ll be recommending it to all the parents I know!

All of the animals are fleeing from a scary monster but Elmer decides to keep exploring and meet this beast. To his surprise, it is a tiny being who is scared and wants to go home but other "monsters" have scared it. Elmer introduces everyone to each other and they realize they should face their fears rather than let them get too big.

Zander, my 5-year-old, can't get enough of the Elmer books. He loves them! I love how this book teaches that the fears we have are often unfounded - something we all need to be reminded of from time to time.

E o carte foarte drăguță, mai ales pentru perioada din viață celor mici când se pot teme de "monștrii"

Elmer and the monster is about the animals of the jungle. In the jungle the animals can hear a very loud roar which frightens all of them. As a result Elmer the elephant decides to investigate where this roar is coming from. During his investigation he converses with various other animals on the jungle who expresses their fears of the roar however Elmer is not afraid of the roar and continues his investigation. In the end he discovers the roar is coming from a little blue animal who is roaring out of fear of the other animals. Elmer explains this to the rest of the animals which results in all of the animals happily getting along.
In my opinion this book would be better suited for children in KS1 and perhaps the start of KS2.
One reason I like this book is due to the fun aspect that you feel when reading it. It also brings to attention and could perhaps build on the child's understanding regarding animals.
It can be used in the classroom by reading it out loud with exaggerated sound effects such as 'roar' to further engage the children.

Finding Elmer in my stash of books brought back amazing memories about this patchwork Elephant which was completely bizarre and something that I couldn't comprehend as a 4-year-old.This wonderful multicoloured elephant goes on a hunt for the "ROAR" that's coming from the within the jungle and what he finds, in the end, is the Friendly, furry Bloo-Bloo who was also frightened of the animals and would roar when it was scared! This storybook is full of colour, there isn't a patch of white within the book and its beautifully enticing with its vibrancy. It has an exciting feel that makes you want to turn over each page and see not only the words of the book but the patterns, drawings and colours splattered onto each page.
This charming lively and vivid book would work an absolute treat for children as well as adults! Highly Recommend!

A new addition to the Elmer the Patchwork Elephant series. Elmer the patchwork elephant is
taking a walk when he hears a terrible ROAR! Then he comes upon his jungle animal friends who are running in the opposite direction. Elmer's friends warn him that their is a monster in the jungle! Curious, Elmer decides to investigate. Eventually Elmer finds the monster, a little blue puff ball, named Bloo‐Bloo, and realizes that Bloo‐Bloo is just as scared of the jungle animals as they are of him. This simple message of bravery combined with David McKee's colorful illustrations and suspenseful story will definitely keep the attention of young readers. This story would work well in monster themed read aloud. Recommended for a pre‐K‐2 audience.

This book is the newest in the Elmer the patchwork elephant series. A large roar in the jungle is frightening the animals. They each run past Elmer as he heads towards the noise. Elmer is curious what could be making such a roar. Elmer comes upon a little blue creature who roars louder than Lion when he is afraid. Elmer comforts the creature and takes him back to his friends who welcome him with smiles.
The illustrations are very colorful and interesting although not quite the quality you see in the original Elmer book. This story is a great opportunity for discussing not judging people based on first appearances or on rumors. It also brings up the topic of bravery.
This would be great for ages preschool through 1st grade both as a read-a-loud and an early reader.

Elmer tackles the "fear of the unknown" in this book. All the jungle animals are "hearing a terrible roar" and running away. They are sure it's a monster, though no one has seen the source of the noise. Elmer forges ahead despite the warnings of monkeys, a tiger, crocodiles, a lion and other elephants. He discovers the source of the roar. Bloo-Bloo, a little monster with a big roar, doesn't feel safe either.

Elmer, the "patchwork" elephant investigates the mysterious roaring sound which all of the animals are afraid of. Elmer discovers the monster making such big noises and learns a few more things. The kids enjoyed the story during preschool storytime. It's always enjoyable to introduce the stories of Elmer.

The story was much better than the other, the cover wasn`t so glosy this time, but the long range of colors is still here.

Cute, but doesn't really lend itself to a story time atmosphere.

Viidakon asukkaat pelkäävät lähistöllä ääntelevää hirviötä, mutta onneksi Elmeri kylmähermoisena kaverina ottaa selvää mikä hirviöllä on hätänä. Hauska satu, mutta ei kovin mieleenpainuva.
