It’s beyond me when the couple has unprotected sex and moreover not one care in the world.
It’s also farfetched when both of them are badly injured yet are able to f@ck!!

This duet definitely could have been condensed to one book. Unfortunately, this is not my favorite of Penny Dee. Nothing was original. This was just your average run of the mill mafia romance. I felt like it was the same mundane mafia romance that Ive read over and over and over again without any special difference in the plot. Both characters were just God awful and all over the place, making one bad decision after another.

I highly recommend a different series from this author, which is her MC series, starting with the book Jack. That one was a 5⭐️ from me!

My Thoughts: This book picks up from where book one ended. Lev and Brooke's little bubble bursts. They are now faced with many obstacles. They aren't sure who to trust anymore. They each are faced with decisions and what their future relationship will look like. They're stubborn but want the best for one another and fight their never-ending feelings. This duet consumed me and I could not put it down. This book contains spice, tension, drama, mafia, betrayal, twists, and growth. TI enjoyed this duet so much and highly recommend it.

You need this book if you love a great romantic story.
You do need to read Bratva Lullaby first as this book follows on from a right cliffhanger ending.
A book packed with explosions, misunderstandings, hot spicy scenes between Brooke and Lev.
I really love Penny's books and this is a fabulous addition to my to be read again list ❤️

WOW.
Continuing straight from the first book this story definitely hooks you in.
Brooke and Lev have to overcome alot more hurdles in their chaotic situationship.
With a villan you never see coming and plot twists that keep you guessing, you will feel like you are living in the characters world.
Fantastic writing by Penny Dee.
Definitely a must read!

The concluding book in the Zarkov Bratva duet and Midnight Poison picks up the story immediately from where Bratva Lullaby ended with Pakhan Lev under attack but now he has more than himself to worry about and now Brooke is about to discover what a relationship with the Pakhan will mean to her life. Once again the story is fast paced and full of action. I did have my suspicions early on in the previous book about who the mastermind behind the mounting attacks was and I was pleased to have been proved right. As villains go Lev fell into the morally grey category rather than giving off dangerous vibes. As Pakhan he should’ve inspired fear into people especially his criminal underlings, but they showed a distinct lack of respect to his face and in front of other people. Also going by the amounts of close call attempts on his life he really needed to have a room on permanent standby at the hospital. Despite this I did love him and Brooke together even if their relationship took a turn for the worse here. Some of their dialogue over this duet has been great. Another thing I loved was Brooke’s friends who I found deliciously violent when it came to what revenge they should inflict on her errant fiancé. I did think the extent Brooke went to, to save the life of said fiancé was a bit far fetched, personally I’d have let Lev do what he wanted to him. I do feel that this duet could’ve been condensed into one large volume but then again, I’ve always been more of the more pages the better kind of reader.

This is the raw and stunning conclusion to Brooke and Lev's story, so be sure you read book one first before you dive into this one. These two really take you on an intense roller coaster ride full of drama, emotion, twists, danger, action, heat and angst that will keep you hanging on every word even when you might be tempted to think about putting it down to throw something. 🌙 First things first, Lev totally steals the show in this one. I mean, come on, who doesn't love a badass bratva boss? 💪

As for Brooke, well, let's just say her decisions had me shaking my head a few times. But hey, that's part of what makes her human, right? 🤷‍♂️

And that twist about betrayal? Mind. Blown. 🤯

Dee knows how to keep us on our toes! Oh, and let's not forget about the epilogue – it ties everything up in the best way possible. 🎉

If you've been following Brooke and Lev's journey, "Midnight Poison" is the perfect conclusion you've been waiting for!

Make sure you read the first book in this duet first! I love this duet and the journey you go on with Lev and Brooke. The hate tension in this book was fantastic. As Lev felt betrayed due to reason we got the enemies element for a little while in this book which I devoured. Again the plot twist but the double plot twist I didn’t see coming. Igor and Enya need a story I love this side character romance. It keeps you gripped as you keep reading. Great spice, story and spice!

What a cliffhanger! After Brooke is kidnapped and finding out she is pregnant with Lev’s baby, she’s unsure of the future, and it doesn’t help that someone is after Lev, using Brooke to get to him, and doing anything else in between to kill him. Lev isn’t sure who to trust, including Brooke, and he’s determined to both find out who is after him while also taking over the Bravta successfully. Brooke’s bubble of love is blown up when she sees how Lev truly is in relation to the Bravta and what he has to do to keep order and stay alive, and she runs away from him after letting other people get in her head. My heart really actually broke for Lev, between him not knowing who to trust, dealing with one of his longtime men in critical condition, and the betrayal of both Brooke and his uncle – and the end of this book truly had me blown away because I did not see any of it coming nor expect it. In the end, we see Lev rightfully take control of the Bravta and gain the respect he needed and also have a HEA with Brooke and their future child. I was on the edge of my seat reading this book and I truly enjoyed reading it. I can’t wait for more of these types of books from Penny!

Literally read this whole book in one sitting I was eating this uppppp 😋 Buckle up because if you thought you were hooked in the first one you’re about to be SUCKED. IN. by this one. Our couple we know & love from book 1 quickly realize the bubble they’ve gotten sucked in to isn’t foolproof & Brooke quickly sees what the Bratva life is about. Knowing how she is already connected to our lovely pakhan, she sobers up quick to what this real life she’s about to get wrapped into is. Don’t get too comfy, as soon as you think things are good BOOM we’re hit with a twist that keeps you saying “just one more chapter” because you just HAVE to find out what happens. I fell in love with these characters sooo much and Brooke & Lev are now easily one of my favorite book couples 🥹 I wish I had more!!!

Midnight Poison by Penny Dee is the shocking, satisfying story of Lev and Brooke. How can the end of a duet surpass the beginning??? With Midnight Poison!!! The story had me pinned to my kindle as I read with rapt attention!!! Things progress in a surprising and dangerous way. There are threats, betrayals, and so much angst you can hardly stand it!!!!

With the surprising result of their time together, there are even MORE reasons for Lev to worry and deny everything regarding Brooke. But, there are dangers afoot that he can’t accept….nor deny…and people/situations that threaten everything….never mind his insatiable need to believe…even when he refuses….

FANTASTIC, ENTHRALLING read!!!! I’m a HUGE new fan of this author!!!

Continuing seamlessly from ‘Bratva Lullaby,’ this book throws Brooke and Lev into a whirlwind of challenges and uncertainties. As their world crumbles, they’re both left wondering who they can trust.

Lev maintains his role as a formidable leader, but it’s his journey of acknowledging his love that truly captivates. Brooke faces her own share of struggles, with some choices leaving me on edge. The ensemble cast adds depth and dimension to the narrative.

A jaw-dropping twist towards the end left me reeling! The conclusion of Brooke and Lev’s story was both satisfying and beautifully tied together by the epilogue.

This duet is a must-read; it’s a compelling, emotional rollercoaster that you won’t want to put down. PS: The bonus chapter was a delightful surprise!

Brooke, who never wanted to be part of Lev crazy life, needs to make a choice if she should stay or leave after she learns some hard thruths. Lev, who will not forgive Brooke for what he believes is a betrayal, thinks she gave him up to the FBI. Only to find out differently. These two are so head over heals in love with each other that they burn to world down for each other when they learn who is really betraying them. This duet was hard to put down, and I was sad when it was over. Oh, love, how the book Devil's Den was put in as a romance read in this book. This is a must-read!

First off, thank you Ms. Dee for putting books 1 & 2 out together! I seamlessly went from 1 straight into 2 without having to stop reading Lev and Brooke’s wonderful story…brilliant! These two are so great and this book is fabulous! Definitely sexy and exciting. It’s also full of mystery and intrigue and…spoiler…a major twist that I suspected…I read and watch a lot of mysteries…but it still blew my mind! Love that we get a really great love story with all the problems and pitfalls of life. Also love the supporting characters…friends and foes…so many diverse personalities. Great book and series, Ms. Dee, can’t wait to see what your vivid imagination comes up with next!

Yeah so they survive a car bomb (which I thought I was reading a RUSSIAN mob book not Irish), Brooke finds out she’s preggers (shocking no one, has literally no one heard of protection?) suddenly she’s squeamish that the man she can’t keep her hands off of is a legit murderer— like babes he’s shot like 10 people in 2 books, you KNEW who he was, chill and suddenly she’s like — hold up you’re like legit a murderer murderer I need to run away. And so Brooke comes up with the WORST escape plan, like HES MOB BABE HE OWNS LIKE HALF THE TOWN HE CAN FIND YOU and so he finds her and they sulk for like a few pages but then shocking no one they can’t keep their filthy paws off each other and then they discover who keeps trying to kill them and then they get married for real.

That’s it, that’s the book. It was a silly goofy good time

epic Conclusion

Jesus with the way book 1 ended I was dying to get my hands on this baby because I needed to know wtf was going on and that everything was going to be handled and someone was gonna get their butts handed to them and I was not disappointed in the least! This book was was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe or should I say another shoe to drop! Lev is that morally grey man you can’t help but love. I swear though every way you turned someone or something was coming after them!! Fantastic duet from beginning to end hands down amazing!

Before I write my review of this second in the duet, let me say, I will most definitely be checking out other mafia romance by this talented author!

Any HEA for Lev and Brooke is definitely challenged! Deliciously so!

This story held my interest from beginning to end!

The unpredictability, the angst, the action!

The supporting characters were also very well done!

I wonder if this will become more than a duet! This reader sure does hope so!

Overall, I enjoyed this mafia duet, it had spice, some good action and a good twist near the end that I didn't really see coming.

I rated it 3.5⭐ because I didn't really feel a connection to the characters, like Lev was definitely an alphahole, which I don't mind but I didn't find any part of his character to really suck me in. Brooke was fine, but I found she was a bit too much of a pushover for my personal liking.

So, you will need to read that to full enjoy this one. This book does pick up right where we left off. Lev and Brooke has found that something else is coming after them and their happiness. This was an exciting duet. I hope to read more from this author soon.

Entertaining

The second book of a duet doesn’t always live up to the promises of the first book, but that’s not the case with MIDNIGHT POISON. The plot is tried and true as far as Bratva kidnapping/baby/engagements go, but the way the story is told is fast paced, smoldering, and the conflict makes sense. I enjoyed the whole series.

I really loved Lev in this book. I think Brooke was being kind of stupid lol she made a lot of dumb decisions that had me rolling my eyes. The story took a little bit of a turn that I felt was kind of random. But I will say the twist at the end was good. I didn’t see it coming. Overall I enjoyed it but the entire time she left was just so dumb
