My Opinion Of This Book: It was pretty great, I just had some problems with it.

The Plot/Storyline:
Evangeline (Eve) died in a tragic car accident and wakes up in a place known as the "in-between" with no memory of her life. But in this place,
"But trusting your heart is even more important. Just listen to what it says to you. The heart isn't always right, but sometimes being wrong is what's best for you."

Well, that was different. And I am not saying that in a bad way.

Evangeline just died and she came to a place that is considered an "in-between". To fairly understand the place she was in, she had been given Godparents to guide her as she transitions. Eve is a strong and stubborn woman. She doesn't go with the flow and I admire t

The story follows Eve (Evangeline) through her death and subsequent kind of life.

It starts off with an emotional scene between a teenage Eve and her boyfriend. We see Eve in her “safe Place” with the Boy she loves. It then changes and we realise that it was a flash back dream and 73 year old current Eve had fallen asleep on the couch reading an old diary. The first chapter went on to add the characters of her husband and daughter. Within the first chapter I already liked Eve and cared about her.

It's hard to believe that this is the author's debut novel, because oh my gosh it is absolutely amazing!

Heartbreaking and haunting, the last book I read that walloped me as much emotionally (and I read a lot) was Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, and while For Better or For Worse connects with the darkness it isn't as dark as the aforementioned book. However, the standard of writing, story, storytelling, prose, description, turn of phrase, character and place development is most definitely on

This book was really slow at first. It was so slow that I wanted to abandon the book but I received it from the author in exchange for my honest review. I liked some of the characters and they had great personalities but I felt like I was left with too many questions. I feel like there were things left out and you really didn't get the entire picture of what was going on.

The concept was intriguing. What would happen if there is a place between here and the afterlife. What would it look like. I

Ms. Nickelsen does a wonderful job creating a world where death isn’t the end, but a new beginning. I loved following Eve on her journey and witnessing her transform from a scared, lost soul to this strong, compassionate woman who is willing to fight for what she believes in. Her emotional whirlwind is so believable, I just wanted to hug her! And Will… wow, I think a lot of women wish someone as mysterious and genuine would find his way to our doorstep. In the end, this was a beautiful story wit ...more

I am so excited to review a thrilling book by Ingrid Nickelsen. It’s a paranormal, fantasy romance filled with mystery and suspense. I will give you my review but it doesn’t come close to capturing the intensity and brilliance of the story. This one is definitely going on my bookshelf.

My first thoughts on Eve’s passing on and her introduction to the new world of the dead was that it was something like how I would like my own death to be. No memories but being content that it’s for the best and t

For Better or for Worse by Ingrid Nickelsen

Life after death with a twist of fate? Kind of, but not really? Confused yet, okay so this is the deal.

Evangeline (Eve) is a devoted wife and mother. The story begins when Eve decides to meet her daughter and grandson. As soon as Eve’s husband, Josh comes home the two head out…and then disaster strikes. A terrible car crash later and Eve suddenly finds herself in a new, strange place…with no memory of who she is, where she came from, or the people she left behind.

This is a debut novel by Ingrid Nickelsen. It was a real surprise for me, because I really didn't know what to expect. This is one of those stories that will make you think. If you don't pay attention to everything you can easily get lost, but I loved it. The book has a new and different take on Life After Death.

When the author of this book asked me to review her book in all honesty, I hesitated a little bit. It was a paranormal, and I was afraid that I would not be able to keep reading it due to not having read a paranormal book for so long. Not only that, but (I hate to admit) I still thought a bit stereotypical when it comes to paranormal: vampires, werewolves, and all that jazz.

But man. Paranormal is sooooooo much more than that.

This book had me from the very beginning. It was intriguing because Nic

I understand that this book is Ms Nicklesen's debut novel and I have to say that it was a very good one.
It starts with the death of our heroine Eve. An unusual place to start it would seem but I liked that this story was very much different from the norm in many ways.
Eve is aware that she has died but that is all she is really aware of. She has no memory of her previous life and does not even know her name until her "godmother", the person

I enjoy explorations of an afterlife and that is what enticed me to do this review. Our main character Evangeline is in her 70's and perishes in a tragic car accident. She then awakens in a young woman's body, a world that seems similar to our own, and a Godparent to help her navigate the new surroundings.

There were some flaws. Occasionally sentences felt unnecessarily wordy- but this could easily be fixed and doe

For Better or For Worse by Ingrid Nickelsen is a beautifully written novel based on afterlife and death. The story follows a happily married woman named Evangeline who died in an accident. She mysteriously appears in the body of a young woman with a memory loss and is unaware of her whereabouts. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of death and afterlife novels but Nickelse

For Better or for Worse was an absolutely incredible book! I definitely wasn't expecting it to be this type of story. Ingrid Nickelsen surprised me with simply the subject of the book, and how she wrote it. I thought it was genius. I haven't read many books with this concept, but I can tell you that she nailed it.

The book was really well written. I was surprised to read that this is about the life of an old woman after death. I think that it was really cool that we only got to learn things as fa

I received For Better or For Worse from the author, Ingrid Nickelsen. This book is about Evangeline. Evangeline is a woman who lived a long full life. Evangeline is a grandmother and looking back on her youth and then something happens and she dies. Evangeline wakes up after dying with no memories of anything except the knowledge that she must be dead. She is met by one of her five godparents who are there to help her adjust to this new life. This novel is been given a title that is usually applied to two people when they are married. You are at the beginning given insight into two people who are married and have been for awhile then quickly something happens to change all that. You are then transported to someplace new where the majority of the story will take place with many new characters introduced. They have all died with the main focus on a few. This is when I realize this is a fantasy that is quite different from any have read ...more

This book was absolutely amazing. I was hooked from the very beginning and could not put it down. Ingrid's words flow so fluidly and the story is so riveting. I just could not wait to find out what would happen and how the story would pan out. I felt so distraught when Evangeline was distraught. I can't imagine what it would feel like to not have any memories and to not understand what is going on around me. The chemistry between Eve and Will was so strong and emotional, even though you don't kn ...more

I had no idea what to expect with this novel, which is good because it was nothing that I expected. I found the premise extremely fascinating as I love stories about the afterlife. The story was extremely engaging, although a bit slow to start. The writing was absolutely beautiful and I cared about the characters. The imagery was amazing, both in setting and the characters themselves. The author is extremely skilled. The "love triangle" was done very well as I honestly believed Eve care

This book was not what I was expecting lol, which happens a lot when you don't actually read the synopsis. For Better or Worse was beautifully written, Nickelsen has an amazing ability with details. My concern was some parts were jumpy and not well explained, leaving me fairly confused at what was happening. Also sometimes I was wondering why things were happening or why characters did certain things.
I liked the characters,

This novel was a breath of fresh air. Being in the paranormal romance genre in this day and age is hard. Plots seem to become repetitive and predictable it's very disappointing. But the plot in this novel is one that I haven't experienced before. Sure there were certain twists that you could see coming a mile away but I was okay with this. It's worth the read.

I was speechless at the end. Nickelsen has written an excellent piece of fiction. I love her imagination. From first word to the to the last one I was spellbound. Her writing skills are very mature and every sentence has a feeling. The ending made me cry. The best couple I have ever read, Will and Eve and I am naming them as 'Evil'. I encourage romance and fiction readers to read this book.

Death is not the end...

I wish I could give 1/2 stars. It's not quite 5 stars, but not a firm 4 either. There were some grammatical errors, and some confusion with the dialogue. I didn't really let that distract me from the story.

The blurb was very intriguing. This is certainly a paranormal romance, which takes place in the afterlife

For Better or For Worse by Ingrid Nickelsen is a tale of one woman`s struggle to find peace and questions that is bombarding her right now. One minute Evangeline is in a warm house talking to a man and the next she is in a place in a different body. With no idea where she is Evangeline struggles to survive and find out answers. What I liked was how Evangeline adapted to this place almost forgetting why she wanted answers to her unending questions. I felt a little antsy when no one wanted to help ...more

I gotta say, I loved the story, but the main characters name about drove me nuts!!! It’s just a huge name and while reading it just doesn’t come out in my head right. But that is nothing to complain about in a well written book! I gotta hand it to the author, she did a wonderful job keeping me into the story despite the name issue I have.
