So far, so cute. Reminds me of the catechism textbooks we used at parochial school when I was a kid, full of stories that illustrate points that are later reviewed simply and in an overly-friendly tone. It's helping me get a nice, comfortable feel for securities concepts; it's accessible; the pace is quick. Still, I'd like a bit more hard, dry, academic bits to help me nail down the particulars - I guess I'll need to get a proper (ungodly expensive!) textbook through my employer after all. :P

I'm not actually taking the Series 7 exam. I have an interview at a company who wants to quiz me on very specific fixed income security concepts and I need to brush up on my terminology and formulae.

Good to use in conjunction with a less fun training manual. Pass the 7 is a very good way to learn the material that it covers, but I think there's a decent amount of curriculum it either doesn't mention or doesn't get into the details about. It's much shorter and easier to read than other 7 books.

I don't know how people are rating this four stars. Maybe it is for the good humor and analogies. Maybe they have not taken the exam yet. I did not pass, even after reading this and another book. Do yourself a favor and get the Dearborn or Kaplan materials and take many practice tests.
