Book 1 introduces the characters and the surrounding. It was my favorite!
Book 2 was entertained at a different level but was still enjoyable.
Book 3 was rather disappointing after the first two...

I want you to pay attention to me now, for I can teach you a thing or two about holding on to life …... You might not think it now because I could not imagine it when I was feeling wretched about myself. But there are people out there who need us. People who count on us, people who waiting to meet us someday, waiting for us to make a difference in their lives. He raised a knee and placed his elbow on it. I am a believer in that we each have a purpose in this life. We are born to do some good, but life is never easy. The roads are never clear and most of the time we just stumble in the darkness and fall into the ditches. We feel deeply the crooks and blows of mother nature. We sometimes find ourselves on the wrong road entirely. But somehow we have to work our way back. We have to believe that the final reward is worth it. We have to work through the challenges and find our destiny.

This third installment focuses on the youngest son, David Pennington, the youngest brother of three, and their long-time neighbor, Gwendoline. Unfortunately, the story between the H/H would have been compelling if not for the flashbacks. This book contains multiple flashbacks from different perspectives that included multiple characters from the current book and the previous books, which I felt was very distracting as I attempted to keep up, sometimes failing to be able to do so at all. So my rating wavers in my own mind drastically. Since it did tie up the conclusion with much-needed answers, it was partially redeemable.

I knew in advance that this book was not sexually clean, but the whining, manipulating, and profanity provided no enticement or inspiration to complete the book at all.

I was entertained by the first and second installments and fully expected to enjoy this one as well. After reaching 50%, I'm left shaking my head wondering why I'm still reading it. So, I really wanted to give and let another one bites the dust! However, I persevered through much nonsense and was satisfied with the H.E.A.

The book is very good. I liked it a lot and I recommend it.

The plot is much more complex and finally unravels the mystery surrounding the Penninghton family since the first book in the series, Borrowed Dreams. The three books in the series are very different despite the fact that everyone's plot is well interconnected.

In this third book there is a main story whose couple is David Pennington and Gwyneth and a secondary about the past of David's cousin Walter Truscott. It also implies a secondary couple formed by Walter and Violet.

The novel does not focus exclusively on the main couple as it gives plenty of room for Walter's past. This sounds strange, but in this case it worked. It was also necessary, for Walter's past allows the reader to understand the whole background of the mystery that surrounded Emma’s life and death (late countess of Aytoun).

During the reading, Walter's past story was the one that kept me engaged the most, much more than the story of the main couple. The story of David and Gwyneth gets really interesting only in the third part of the book when danger and mystery intersect with their relationship while Walter's story loses room, which IMO was a shame, because I really wanted to read the development Walter and Violet’s relationship. Their relationship was much more appealing to me than David and Gwyneth's. However, I understand that the plot and the villain needed to be an obstacle in David and Gwyneth's story for it to work, therefore David and Gwyenth needed focus.

THINGS THAT WERE NOT CONVINCING:

One thing was clear and it seemed contradictory to me was that when Emma was alive and married to Lyon (David's older brother and Earl of Aytoun) David defended her against Lyon and looked Lyon as if he was in error. However in the future when David is with Gwyneth, he states that when Emma became engaged to Lyon he realized that she was not innocent and only manipulated people. So why did he take her side before Lyon?
Also, I found David's decision to pursue Gwyneth very sudden. The present time shows as if there had always been something between them for many years, while when we read about the past time in the beginning of the book it shows David seeing her as a child.

Dreams of Destiny is the final book in the trilogy and oh my goodness was it amazing! This one was hands down my favourite one out of all them!! There is something completely magnetic about David’s character. I couldn’t get enough, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like about him! Gwyneth was an amazing character too, they all were. It was enjoyable seeing it all come together and unfold. Very talented storytellers! I love that everyone who deserved a happy ending got one. My attention was fully captured. It was unpredictable, at times shocking, romantic, and completely riveting. Definitely a story I could read more than once! Fantastic book!

No Spoilers
This was by far the best book in the series. Wow! So much in one book. I immediately liked David Pennington and Gwyneth. I think the way the story was written and unfolds shows how talented an author May McGoldrick is. The story was excellently crafted. My only issue with this book was it not having an epilogue. The Penningtons are characters a reader grows fond of and having an epilogue would have made it more complete for me.
I recommend this book, but as a series. I don't think the story would unfold the same without having read Lyon's and Pierce's point of view of it.

He prevents her and wants to marry her himself. Emma's murder is reveled, Violet has her baby, girl stillborn. Violet reunites with previous mistress.

Dreams of Destiny is the third book in the Scottish Dreams trilogy- and the best one in the series. Like other books written by May McGoldrick, it is filled with a thrilling plot, engaging characters, and excellent writing.

The story revolves around the youngest Pennington brother, David, who never recovered from the death and the unsolved murder of his sister-in-law. When he observes childhood friend Gwyneth Douglas preparing to elope, he is determined to keep her safe and out of the hands of a fortune hunter. We know from almost the beginning that Gwyn writes scandalous adventure books under a pen name and that she is being blackmailed and threatened with exposure. David doesn’t trust her soon-to-be-husband and before they reach Scotland, several improbable accidents start to befall the heiress. During their journey to Scotland, David discovers his attraction to Gwyn has grown stronger than ever, and Gwyn in turn discovers she has a yearning and passion for David that she never experienced with her intended.

The best part of this story is that we learn exactly what happened with Lyon’s first wife, how she was obsessed with a relative of the Penningtons (if not all of the Pennington brothers), and the circumstances of how she died. Simply put, Dreams of Destiny is a fitting and satisfying conclusion to the Pennington family saga. Bravo!

David and Gwyneth

Tropes/keywords: road trip, heiress, author, childhood friends to lovers

Gwyneth is secretly an author. Someone has discovered her secret and is threatening to expose her (scandal). She decides on a marriage of convenience to get the protection of a husband's name. David, having just sold his commission, runs into Gwyneth at an inn where she is on her way to elope. But David refuses to let her go without him and our road trip begins.

This was a fun book with lots of action. No romance until David realizes that he really hasn't tried to woo Gwyneth at all. This book is the end of a trilogy of books and ties up some loose ends from other books in the series. The big background mystery is solved. Lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed this! Definitely NOT a standalone book.

This was the third book in this series. It was Gwyneth and David’s story. This was the final story of the Pennington family, and the mystery surrounding the death of Emma, Countess of Aytoun, former mistress of
Baronsford. This book finally revealed the answer to the mystery, but was a surprising ending!
I enjoyed this series and highly recommend it. This author’s writing makes you feel as though you are in the story, watching the characters and following their lives.
Very well done and thoroughly enjoyable!

Dreams of Destiny, the third and final installment in the Scottish Dream trilogy was a thrilling tale that reunites the Pennington brothers. Filled with action, mystery and passion, this story tells the tale of Gwyneth and David. As you drift between the present and the past, you learn the details of what caused the rift between the brothers and the dangers that lurk, both past and present. I loved this trilogy, I couldn’t put them down!

Just finished A trilogy of books called Scottish Dreams Trilogy, By May McGoldrich. Really enjoyed them, it takes place in Scotland about when the colonies were being formed. There about the 3 Pentington brothers of Scotland, naturally each book is about one of the brothers. Excellent stories and May keeps them very interesting through each book. I loved the books and I hated to see them end.
I just posted this to FB.

What a great trilogy! So much action and romance. This is my second time reading this book. The last being in 2015 when I first got the reading bug. I highly recommend this series to anyone above the age of 17. There are some pretty steamy scenes. Well written and May McGoldrick does not disappoint.

I despised this book. It was convoluted, contrived, and tried to make up for plot with excessive sex scenes. It became more and more bizarre and unbelievable as the book went on. The effort to tie all the loose ends at the conclusion was poorly planned, and clumsy in the attempt. Ugh

Darn e-book versions and their rampant typos... That aside, the story does pretty well distracting me from the worst typos. The pacing was a tad slow for me at times, but then gradually I really got into it. I liked the different perspectives and how the mystery of Emma's death was tied together through all the books. Walter and Violet's perspectives were a little imbalanced though, but I loved the gradual reveal through them. For a third book, it did well tying all three books together, The romance between David and Gwyneth was very aggressive and humorous. I thought they made a great couple and David

So I really liked this trilogy. Very satisfying and well brought together. A good follow to another trilogy I read through and was sadly disappointed in (Changespell). This one was not only well written (barring typos) and had a lot of what I look for in a romance. It was also so cute and sweet that I would consider re-reading. The first and third books are by far my favs.

Sorry to say that I was disappointed in the third installment of the Scottish Dream Trilogy, Dreams of Destiny. Although well written, much of my disappointment stems from the lack of development with the relationship between David (H) and Gwyneth (h). 3/5 stars

I loved Borrowed Dreams so much that I instantly skipped over Captured Dreams and ordered the third book, where the mystery begun in Borrowed Dreams is finally solved. I should have really liked this book because I was pleasantly surprised by two stories--Daniel and Walter's, which could have easily been strung along to a fourth book. However, in spite of getting two for the price of one I was disappointed. I can't enjoy a romance unless the obstacle keeping the lovers apart rings true and works for me--this one didn't, not even close, and was teeth-gnashingly, annoyingly dragged out--blaah. The gems of the series, Beatrice and Ohenewaa, were given short-shrift and underutilized in this book. Finally, the spoiler that I can't mention struck me as really too far out there, as well as just plain gross, and really could have been managed way better.

Loved the story of David and Gwendolyn. Gwendolyn is being blackmailed and the only way she sees of getting out of it is marrying someone in a hurry in Greta Green. On her way to Greta Green she inadvertently runs into a childhood friend David. Even though he is drunk he realizes his friend is up to no good and he wants to find out why!! Loved the story but a little slow in places!! A great end to the trilogy!!

I was totally shocked to discover who murdered Emma. After learning more about Emma and how she treated people I have not sympathy for her. She was an awful person.

I was glad David got over his infatuation of Emma and was able to find someone that truly loved him. All in all a great trilogy. My only complaint with this series was the editing. There were many grammatical errors that were very noticeable and could be easily fixed.
