After winning a custody battle Arielle Taylor moves to Portus Felix to start a new life with her nephew while she undergoes surgery for breast cancer. But when her junkie sister finds her, Jolene brings the attention of an angry outlaw biker straight to Arielle's doorstep—bent on payback.
Deadly, strong and fiercely loyal, Quentin's unassuming calm belies a man willing to get his hands dirty for the Dead Men Riders MC who’d been his only family. When a biker groupie seduces him into his bed, he gets more than a night of pleasure after she drugs him unconscious and steals his money, leading him straight to his neighbor's house.
But when he first sets eyes on Arielle, he is blown away by her beauty and innocence. And when he accidentally strikes up a relationship with her eight-year-old nephew, he finds himself falling hard for a woman who manages to get under his skin and crack his hard exterior. He doesn't do sweet. He doesn't like sweet. He owes it to sweet to just leave it alone and walk away. But their attraction is instant and explosive—and one neither of them can afford… nor resist.
But when the club finds a connection between a current threat and Arielle, it jeopardizes everything that he has ever believed in. And soon he finds himself not only having to keep Arielle safe from a mysterious drug lord but his own club—his family—threatens the only woman he's ever fallen in love with.
Will Quentin choose Duty over Love? Or will he betray his own club to save a woman who is already dying?
Suitable for ages 18+ for strong language, scenes of violence and scenes of a sexual nature. Stand Alone Full-length Novel
Well, I like this story. And I'm proud of it because I wrote it as a Sons of Anarchy fanfiction. So I love to read the reviews, but I'm sorry to say it was available to read for free (which makes the spelling mistakes easier to handle) on https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9594168/... I`m sorry you all paid 3 or 4 dollars. I take your reviews to heart, however. I do have more stories on my profile you`re more than welcome to enjoy.
I was really enjoying this one when it was brought to my attention that this is actually originally fanfic that has been stolen and plagiarised by Portia Gray .... all that is changed are the names! It seems to be taken word for word from the fanfic. Unbelievable. Tried to PM Ms Gray but hey, ho, she cannot be contacted by message on here... Thanks Jill for the lend and the information. Will just have to read it on fanfic now.
Who the hell is Portia Gray and what has she done? Stolen fan fic? If that's true, shame on you!!
So obviously as news starting circulating online last night that The Sweet Under His Skin was stolen from fanfiction.net and that the real author that posted at fanfiction was in no way affiliated with this book, I truly felt bad. I don't have a blog or a million followers or anything but I really liked this book and posted about it, recommended it, etc. It makes me sad that someone would take someone else's work and put it out there as their own, trying to make a buck, and that I had encouraged my GR friends to buy it.
That said, if "Portia Gray" did steal this book, I suggest that the real author of the fanfiction capitalize on what's happened immediately. Spread the word that the book is stolen, take your fan fiction down, hire an editor/proofreader, and release your own damn book under your own name. People have read the book and liked it, reviews are out there... Do some edits, clean it up, and release!
I've read a shit ton of biker books, some are guilty pleasures, some are comfort reads, and some are just great reads period. This had the potential to be a great fucking read, period.
Below was my brief review. I'm not taking it down. I'm hopeful that if the author isn't Portia Gray, and it's looking like it isn't, the real author can use the reviews that are out there to be motivated to re-publish her story herself.
Brief Review: It was good! I'm kind of marinating on what I think before I post a full review. It was a great debut and for fans of biker/MC romances, I totally recommend. I feel like this is more of a grown up book then some of the wham bam MC books that have come out lately. You don't get to page ten and you're in the middle of a shit storm of drama and sex. There's a story here and you have to read it to get to it which some readers my not appreciate but I did. There was alot of layers to the story and I liked that too. There's a romance developing, there's club business that must be dealt with, family dynamics, health issues...
There were some issues, editing throughout, typos that need to be addressed. The pacing in the last quarter of the book seemed to be a little off as well. And for as much as I loved the story, I didn't love how it ended. Overall, I'd put it at the top of my biker/mc reads and was excited to read it! I really enjoyed it.
I feel disgusted because though I loved it, it was stolen work and not that I am upset about the few dollars I am mad about the fact the douche waffle changed some names around..put her name behind it and caller it her own work! Fucking people these days!
Apparently, even the typos were stolen. This makes me sad as I really enjoyed the story. Regardless, the author has not confirmed that she is or is not the original author of the fan fiction, and no one has come forward stating they ARE, so kind of at a loss what to believe.
Regardless, I thought I should note this in my review. I'm not going to change my original review content, but I just wanted to include the possible plagiarizing issue so people know before they hit 1-click...
My original review is below.

3.5 to 4 Stars
This was a solid read with a lot of depth. Arielle and Quentin's relationship was really beautiful and it took time to develop, which was nice.
Arielle's battle with Cancer, the resulting physical and emotional changes and Quentin's response to those changes was really endearing and beautiful.
The secondary characters were also very good, especially Calvin.
The first 60% of this book was 5+ star for me; however, it kind of fell apart after that. To avoid spoilers I will keep it brief, but the story's main point of conflict - aside from Arielle's sickness -came to a veritable stand still and the book really slowed down.
My main issue, however, was the ending. It was abrupt, it seemed rushed and there were a lot of loose ends - and not the setting-up-for-a-sequel type loose ends, but the I-don't-really-know-how-to-wrap-it-all-up loose ends.
The "climax" of the story was not seamless in my opinion and kind of left the reader stranded with a half-assed conclusion.
Regardless, I was really impressed with the rest of the book, the author's writing and the original storyline. I will definitely read more from this author.
There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning and finding out the book you have been enjoying, and raving about, is A PLAGIARIZED VERSION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S FANFICTION.
Angry doesn't even begin to cover what I'm feeling right now. What the f***k is wrong with people?! Seriously. Write your own f****king story.
This book came under my radar from a few of my friend's reviews. I learned that Ms. Gray is not the original author and this work has been stolen.
Plagiarism is an ugly thing and while not wanting to attract more attention, I feel the real author, C.D. Breadner, should get credit for her free fanfic story.
Writing under the name of Fuzzy Peaches and entitled Final Wisdom, you'll find a great tale and one that I thoroughly enjoyed!!
This is a stolen piece of work. You stole this from fanfiction.net, the only thing you did was change the name of the characters (minus Calvins') and the MC. You have to be pretty pathetic to stoop so low. The original work https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9594168/....
This story is stolen from a work on FanFiction.net. The original story may be read in its entirety at: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9594168/1.... Do not support this scammer!
Edited: 2/3/14 It has come to my attention, that this book was plagiarized from some fan fic. I am adding this to my review for now. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9594168/... this is the page the fanfic appeared on and has a note from the author about this.
so I saw This book here and I looked at the ratings and read the synopsis and I was like, Oh wow this is a cool book, I want to read this. then I went to buy it and suddenly I couldn't find it anywhere, not on amazon or smashwords or anywhere else. SO one click led to another and what do you know I find out? I found out that apparently the book was written by someone else and Portia Grey has stolen it, then publishing it. so The real author had published this as a fan fiction for sons of anarchy TV series and I have started to read it on fanfiction.net. it can be found there under the name "final wisdom". I suggest that if you find that you like the story and want to read it go there and support the real author. to the real author, you should publish this yourself. I mean I looked at the reviews here and on fanfiction.net and seems like you have a great story going. Don't let this scare you and keep on writing. I hope to buy your book one day. well this is it. I know this is wishful thinking but I hope that one day things like this don't happen.
I LOVED the original, which is actually a story written on www.fanfiction.net by the Author Fuzzy Peaches1 and it's called Final Wisdom https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9594168/... Miss Gray is plagiarizing this wonderful piece of writing that takes place in the world of Sons of Anarchy!! She copy/pasted the entire story and merely changed the key player's names. Instead of Tig Trager, we get Quentin and instead of the fabulous Jamie, we get Arielle.
YOU, Miss Portia Gray, should be ashamed of yourself. You are trying to earn money by stealing the work of a hard working writer. Be wise and REMOVE anything that has to do with your 'Book' from this site & Amazon. And apologize! Not that it would help you but perhaps for your own state of mind.
Stolen! I would be leery of anything "Portia Gray" SELLS on Amazon, considering this was written as an SOA fanfic and made available FREE to her fans by the real author CD Breadner. Look for "Sineater" or "Soulstealer" instead - these are CD Breadner's real self-published works, properly edited and formatted for sale on Amazon. Her Fanfic is FREE! Don't pay a thief for it!
THIS RATING IS BASED ON THE STORY AND IS NOT TO BE CREDITED TO PORTIA GRAY WHO PLAGIARIZED THE ORIGINAL STORY BY AUTHOR C.D. BREADNER
A five star rating for me is a book that I enjoyed so much I know I will it read again. Sweet was a true love story that developed over time and portrayed some of the things that can tear a developing relationship apart instead of making it stronger. The emotional and psychological struggle of a young woman facing breast cancer and a partial mastectomy was portrayed so well by the author, I actually felt the pain the h was going through as well as the pain experienced by the H. Quentin became my hero with his sweet love for Arielle and most especially his relationship with the 9 year nephew, Calvin. Arielle's sister, mother of the 9 year old nephew, is a drug addict and is a character in the story. There is a real life, gritty MC in the story with characters that match. I liked the fact that this author was able to take a real, gritty MC back drop and weave a story of true love and how a relationship grows and blooms while dealing with cancer, insecurities, dysfunctional families, and violence. Although the story ending could have been fleshed out a little more, it did not detract from my rating. The author revealed the bad guy and his motives. She ended the book with an epilogue that includes a HEA for Quenton and Arielle. The one distracting thing was the editing/formatting issues. This is a first book read by this author for me and I think she wrote a beautiful story that hooked me completely. I am really looking forward to the next book by this author and I hope she takes some of the characters in this book to follow up on.
Being someone that normally doesn't like MC club books, I very much enjoyed this one. We have Quentin, a biker through and through but with a heart of gold. He meets his neighbor, Arielle, in a run down section of a town called Portus Felix (maybe someone can clue me in on this name). Arielle is taking care of her nephew, Calvin, because her sister, Jolene, is a junky and completely unreliable as a mother. Arielle is also facing breast cancer, radiation and chemo.
Quentin becomes smitten with both Arielle and Calvin. He takes Calvin under his wing and becomes a surrogate father (yes, very swoon worthy).
There are also drug problems brewing in PF and Quentin's MC brethren are anti-drugs in their town. Unfortunately, Arielle gets mixed up in the goings on because of her sister. Quentin to the rescue.
This was a very entertaining book that maybe lost a little focus at the end (or maybe I did as this was a very long book to read in one session). But it was a satisfying ending not usually found in these MC books.
Only one slight criticism I have is that I would like to have known more about Quentin. Why did he join the MC in the first place. He was a great character who thought of himself as uneducated but had more insight and common sense than most very educated people. Where was he from, what was his background?
I also need to add that there are a lot of typos (and I even had one paragraph really screwed up) in this book. Normally I don't get too excited about this, but I enjoyed this book and I found it distracting trying to figure out what the right word was or what the author really meant.
Overall, I thought this book had a solid foundation for a good storyline. I just felt that along the way some parts were just unnecessary for the plot. BTW, this book is LONG. I typically LOVE reading long books but this one seemed to drag here and there especially around the 50% mark.
My main gripe with this book is all the errors that required some simple editing. For a paid book, I would have just expected those ‘space’ issues to be resolved as it got excessively annoying throughout the whole book.
I gave 1 star because I couldn't rate less. This author is a THIEF. The reason this story resembles Sons of Anarchy is because she stole it from fanfiction.net, from a great writer who I have followed through every update; and she is beyond pissed and upset that her writing has been stolen and is being sold by somebody else. The "author" hasn't even bothered to change all the names in it.
Fanfiction.net Writer: Fuzzy Peaches1 Story/Fanfic: Final Wisdom
its a great story of discovering what life really has to offer through love, finding ur family and realizing who really are urs at the end of the day and what's really worth it.so kudos to the original author for creating the main characters and bringing fore their journey. 4 stars for sure. just cant rate it here coz ive read the plagiarised version. apologies dear original author.
Oh dear, I came on here to leave a good review as I totally loved the story but can't do that. I had no idea this was plagiarised, not nice :(
Had the original author published this (and I sincerely hope she does so I can buy it) this would have been a 4 star read (the end was a bit abrupt to be worthy of 5 stars)
