**This review shouldn't contain any spoilers**

Fallen was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. Let me just say that all of my reviews are 100% honest all of the time, and I try to avoid spoilers for the most part. Now, on with my review...

Fallen, first and foremost, is a retelling of the Princess and the Frog fairy tale. Now, for me, I was intrigued, but that story had never been one I cared for. However, I was curious to see just how this story could be retold. All I ca

Once upon a time, there was a prince....

Okay. I'm going to stop right there. Sure, this is a fairy tell retelling. But this one is so far different then fairy tales that I'm going to skip over the ever so typical Once upon a time spiel, because that's ordinary. This story is so far from ordinary...Wow.

I found out about this author through a reviewer friend who has absolutely loved her stories. I'm a sucker for fairy tale retellings, I am. I have not read the first two set in the same

Ok Fallen is the retelling of the Frog Prince. Ann takes us on a fun ride as she retells the story of the princess and the frog. There is a prince, a band of robbers, Death or yeah and an aura reading chicken. Yes I said a aura reading chicken. Trust me you will laugh at that dang chicken.
Ok now back to the review. Ann takes us on a twisted tale which is dark

An ARC of this Book Was Given To Me in September By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

You expect the author of paranormal books to have a good imagination, but as you will find when you read the story, Ann Hunter’s is exceptional. So much so that I found it necessary to read the last section twice just to make sure I had understood what was happening.
The synopsis tell you the story, but it really only scratches the surface – there is so much more to it. All of the characters are larger

I REALLY want to read this especially after reading a previous book by the author

I Really enjoyed this story very much. This is a retelling of The Prince and The Frog, a story in which I have actually never read, but I really enjoyed this. I read this book in one sitting everything about it totally drew me in. The characters, the plot, and the story. I can't express how much I enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to go back in read Moonlight. I don't know if these are a series or jus

I received this book an exchange for an honest review and I’ll be honest it is not a normal read for me but I really became intrigued once I started getting into the story. It was nicely written and easy to follow and you immediately get attached to the characters. So let’s talk about them a little:
The story starts with Sylas a prince who decides he's tired of being told what to do, when to do it, and basically having no freedom in how he lives his life so he runs.
Along the way, he stumbles acro

I have to say right off that this is a very strange book. I'm absolutely not saying it's bad, it's just strange. In chapter one, I was reading a story about a prince running away & getting captured by  robbers, of which of course he falls in love with. In the second chapter, I was suddenly reading about a couple hens about to get slaughtered. At this point I thought I was reading a book of short stories. But back into the 3rd chapter and we're talking about the prince again, and the hen... who r ...more

Ann Hunter is a new author to me and this is a fantastic story. Sylas is a prince who runs from his kingdom and from an arranged marriage he’s only 17 years old and he wants a bit of freedom, he runs into a robber who takes him prisoner and also takes his breath away. When the robber finds out who he is she tells him to go back to the castle and he does but he pleads with his father to go and look for the woman that stole his heart instead of being in a loveless marriage and his father agrees to ...more

While I've only read a few classic fairy-tale type stories, this was one that I've both read and watched...and honestly, I wasn't impressed. So why did I read this? Because I love new adaptations and retellings of classics of all kinds, especially fairy-tales, and I'm so glad I found this one! I loved this take on The Frog Prince! Exciting and well written, this book had all the feels I longed for in the original. I loved the detail and excitement Ann Hunter was able to add to this story!

A prince who wants freedom... promises to be fullfilled, love and marriage a kingdom to protect.. Can he escape and return to his love.... a chicken who doesn't understand....I still don't understand. The start was good but after the chicken was introduced it just go weird from there.

This is a different telling of the frog Prince and it is more twisted but it is just as good. It is darker but just as good. You will love it

What possible connection could Death, a young prince and a small red hen have in the world of fairytales? Fallen by Ann Hunter re-tells the Frog Prince story with more than one dark twist to pull at your heart strings. A young prince, longing for the freedoms of his subjects, to love, to live one’s own life, leaves his castle and his responsibilities behind in frustration. Is it the restlessness of youth crying to be heard? Prince Sylas finds the woman of his dreams, but he is betrothed to a str ...more

Holy crazy chickens! I hardly know where to even start!

First off, fellow readers--if you have NOT read Moonlight or The Subtle Beauty---DO NOT READ FALLEN YET!!! In order to fully appreciate THIS book, you NEED to read the other 2 first. Seriously, not kidding!

Ann Hunter has an imagination the knows no boundaries. You can take every Grimm Fairy tale, a few nursery rhymes, and the movie Labyrinth all thrown into a pot to jumble up. The outcome of that MIGHT be close to what Fallen is. Sylas Mort

I was given this book for free to share my honest opinion.

I have read 2 of Ann Hunter's books so far. I have to say I keep hoping against hope that they will get better, that the characters will begin to flesh out. That the motivations behind the villains will be explained. I even want those moments where her characters fall in love in a chapter to be explained. What do they see in each other? What is so powerful between them that they will go beyond death to unite with each other? Even the moti

For Sylas Mortas happily ever after is not meant to be. Once upon a time Sylas fell madly in love with Ciatllait. Sylas tried with all his heart to save the girl who robbed him of his heart.

I loved Subtle Beauty by this author. Then I didn't love Moonlight quite as much, but still enjoyed it. Fallen so far has been my least favorite read by this author. I was really engrossed in the beginning that is until Ros came in. Ros is a chicken an

As stated in the synopsis, this book is a fantastic retelling of The Frog Prince and what a retelling it is. The author did something that I have rarely seen while reading books. She took a villain and told HIS side of the story. And guess what, he really wasn’t as bad as he was made out to be in the other books!!!

I loved Sylas Mortas’s story and what made me love it is that it had Ros in it. Ros had her own story in A Piece of Sky, where she carried a magical acorn to safety. When I saw that sh

If you think this is just another fantasy novel, you will be surprised by the intensity which this young author deliver in her book. The story starts as a classical tale of a princess trying to escape from an arranged marriage and ended up being captured by some robbers and fall in love with their leader. But from there on, the sequence of events is well elaborated and I guarantee will keep your attention until the last page is turned and you will be begging for more. This is a beautiful tale of ...more

Fallen is Ann Hunter’s most complex and imaginative book so far. It tells the story of Prince Sylas, a seventeen-year-old who will do anything to free the girl he loves from the clutches of a witch named Crwys. Fallen is a companion novel to The Subtle Beauty and Moonlight. I’d strongly recommend reading those other two books first. Sylas is a complicated character who is easy to both love and hate, but the star of the book is definitely Rós, a magic chicken who becomes Sylas’s only friend. Fall ...more

Wow! I was really blown away by this wonderful book! This is definitely Ann Hunter's best one yet. I was completely captivated and found it extremely hard to put this book down. I absolutely love how this story ties in neatly with The Subtle Beauty and Moonlight. I found Sylas's story completely intriguing and my heart really felt for him and his touching story. I though he was some cold monster in the first two books and was pleasantly surprised to find out how....human he was and all of his he ...more

I absolutely enjoyed the third book in the Crowns of the Twelve series’Fallen’. Ann Hunter is so clever in re imagining classic fairy tales. They are so unique, and so different from the original fairy tales that I found that I could not put the books down. Unlike the first two books ‘A Subtle Beauty’ and ‘Moonlight’. I do not feel this book is appropriate for elementary aged children due to the romantic scenes. My cheeks were blushing, but this is no ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ book either.

This book is fascinating from start to finish. I literally could not put it down once I picked it up. She makes the characters jump of the pages. The author has the ability to make you vested in the journey the characters take, particularly Sylas. And the humor is rather cute. All in all it was well worth my time and a fascinating delight to read. Tugs at the heart strings as well. The author does what all good books are suppose to do. She makes us laugh and cry as we have become part of the sto ...more

"once upon a time, a prince fell in love"

Fallen is an immediate page-turner. Sylas is a character that is hard to not like. Exciting fairytale and folklore that builds up the characters so much that even Death is its own character. Hunter has a large imagination and her ability to tell a remarkable story is exceptional. An incredible love story is build upon a prince's journey. The humor of the characters and how even the "chicken" was likeable, shows how wonderful a story this is. "once upon a

Fallen is a beautiful and heart wrenching story of love and loss. This delightfully dark retelling of the Princess and the Frog will keep you surprised by the unexpected twists and turns this adventure takes. You will cry along with the characters, especially the charming and adorable chicken Ros, as they struggle to make a peaceful life with the evil Cryws always nearby. Ann Hunter has created another poetic and bold story, definitely her best yet, and I look forward to her future books!

Hard to get into

This book is written well but it is hard to get into. I have read the other books in the series and like them a lot. This book is my least favorite of the series. It drags on and it seems really repetitive. Sylas spends the book going between the word of the living and the dead. He loses everyone he cares about and is forever changed. *I received this book for free in exchange for an honest unbiased review. This has not influenced my opinions on the book.

This book was bittersweet. I really like how the author has started from the end of the story and is slowly working her way back. That puts a very different perspective on a lot of things that have happened. I really love how she's blended fairy tales with fae. It's interesting and it just sucks you in all the more.
