Another winner from British humorist (and long-time editor of Punch magazine) Alan Coren. I first met Coren in The Cricklewood Diet and laughed until I cried; this one is just as good. He skewers politicians, authors, artists and celebrities along with waiters, mechanics, business tycoons and, well, humanity in general. In this collection, homo sapiens builds a shelf and runs afoul of the Neanderthal Builders Guild, an elderly James Bond copes with London traffic cops, the oldest dragonfly in the world gets twitterpated, and the New York Gay Police Department passes fashion commentary on the victim as well as each other (perhaps not considered politically correct today, but hilarious nonetheless). An updated P.G. Wodehouse, a British P.J. O'Rourke, he's much, much more. Read. Laugh. Enjoy.
