Like the last two, a great book. Hard to review without giving everything away (even mentioning characters can give away who lives or dies- but man, people die . . . what a cold, dark world they live in). The plot moves along nicely, with many twists, turns, and "did I just read that?" moments. Good stuff. Fans of the first two should read for sure. I will say, though, I wish the author would mix up his descriptions a bit. I have invented a Game of Thrones drinking game. Every time you read "Boi

Remember that school field trip where you sat on the bus for ages, only to arrive at someplace mediocre? It took forever to get there, you looked around, and then you realized it was a long trip home. THAT is what these books have become. I'm approx. 3 million pages in, so I feel like I have to see how it all turns out--but the rewards:length ratio is leaving something to be desired, and I find myself skimming (falling asleep on the bus?) to try and speed things along. (Also, side note: this rev

Whooo, there's Arya and Sansa in the opening scene. I believe this is the best one so far. The graphics are less irritating and the story pace picked up a notch, making me finish this one in less than ten minutes.
The Hound looks exactly like I would've pictured him from reading the books. Khal Drogo looks amazing(ly hot).

This drawing is actually from the first issue, but who cares: hawtness!
There are quite a bit of boobies in this one, but so are there in the normal books and, well, hello HBO(OB

I had simply forgotten how enjoyable a good yarn can be. Hats off to Martin for never falling into borrowing from Tolkien. I don't like Medieval sword and sorcerer books as much as the next guy, the goofy names, stilted language...but Game of Thrones changed all that for me. I would love to discuss this with some one. I am resting now after book three, which I had as a library book, and read at breakneck speed to finish in two weeks (I'm a slow reader.). All I can say is "Whew!". Seriously, what

Game of Thrones is quickly becoming an institution among readers of high fantasy, and with good reason. This book in incredible. It floors me that one person's mind can create and piece together such an intricate plot, filled with layers upon layers of lore, characters, and intentions of the long-dead. It's magic, really, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

ETA: Please let me draw your attention to all the people leaving reviews for STORM OF SWORDS, instead of, you know, the COMIC BOOK. Are they even reading the title of the book they are "reviewing"?? This is seriously driving me nuts.
This issue covers Dany's wedding and more events at Winterfell.

Arya ain't so horseface in this version. You know, someone should have told the artist that not all the women are pretty in this story... I wonder what his interpretation of Brienne is...

I am not even sure how I stumbled upon this series, but somehow I did. This is the third in a rather lengthy series. I think this is something of a guilty pleasure type of read. I was pulled into this fantasy world that has just enough of reality mixed into it to make it easy for the reader to fill in the gaps and create a rich world. I recommend it if you are looking for something to pull you in.
Book 3 was amazing! I have finished this one and moved straight to book 4. So much has happened in the third book and I cannot see yet where we're headed. I think I loved Brienne and Jaime's journey the most in this installment. Really touching and unexpected. Still rooting for Dany and Jon Snow. Thank goodness I have a long commute at the moment so I can continue to read these behemoth books.
Oh lawd!!!!!!this book was drama! I was scared to turn the page half the time and yet so intrigued by three story. I kept asking a friend, who's already read this installment, "OMG, what happens to ...?". My aim is to read the rest of the books in the series without stopping but I think I need an emotional break from Jon, Sansa,Jaimie, Samwell and the rest of the crew. The Others take me.
i read all five books in two weeks, give or take. so i'm just going to post one mondo review of them at A Dance With Dragons. totally not fair, i know, but life is not always fair.
Book 3 was very long, but a page-turner and I just couldn't put it down. After every chapter, I said to myself "I didn't see that coming." I spent the past 2 days reading non-stop because i couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. My favorite characters dying, lost, finally being exaulted, the thought-dead coming back ravaged, but alive. How can one man have such imagination and the ability to write so that the reader sees and feels what those book characters see and feel is beyond me.

I am writing my review for all books as I have just finished the entire series to date. Martin writes each chapter like a TV episode: it is complete yet leaves a bit of a cliffhanger. His background is Hollywood so it stands to reason. I like his style as I can't put it down. When someone first told me each book was 1000+ pages, I choked. Then I started and time stood still as I read them.

This gargantuan novel is 900+ pages, with 5 powers vying to rule the Seven Kingdoms, the George R R Martin holds no prisoners as he indiscriminately slaughters favourite and unloved characters alike.
The constant introduction and development of Characters presents yet more reasons to love and hate this book equally, with the familiar dying off and in turn making way for even more complicated and twisted plot lines between characters which tend to blurr together inexplicably, there are so many ser ...more

Hello everyone. I have read a lot of your comments concerning this series and let me just tell the person who would stop at book 3 just because they are whining about how long it is major stupidity. Lord of the Rings had it slow parts as well, but damn did it end well. I have read all 5 books in a matter of 3 months with a small break for 50 Shades. My mind needed a sword, chain mail, and house colors rest because it begins to get to get confusing to the point you may have to write them down. Se

OMG! This one is so far the best of the series. There is so much going on! People die, people come back, people are traitors and then they aren't traitors, and then they are back to being traitors. Bad characters do good things and good characters do bad things. For me book three blows away books 1 & 2. Things happen, come out of nowhere and then you are completely blown away that an author would be so brutal to his characters. The only, tiny, tiny not so great parts were most of the chapter

Unless something changes in the individual comics, My reviews will pretty much be exactly the same for each book. I love how the locations look and I love how it follows the book to the letter, Not a basic synopsis but it literally follows entire chapters and I love that.
Similar to what I said before, Poorly designed characters but the locations are great. They still have not left Winterfell (any time now). Low amount of pages are a killer as well because the book is so massive, and the comic (i ...more

I'm giving this four stars, but that might be a little unfair. I read the first book after watching the first season on HBO and I felt like the first season was pretty true to the book. I read the second book as I finished watching the second season. Both the book and the show kept me interested. The third book covers some events that are depicted in the second season. The show departs significantly from the book. I think I might have given the book five stars, if I had not already seen the even

High-level story seems fine. In most cases, it seems logical. Far too graphic. Descriptions of brutal killings and rapes carry more detail than is warranted. It seems as if Martin wanted a murder or rape every three pages. Shows women in a poor light - seems women had no status except as objects. Story jumps from character to character making it hard to follow unless one draws a family tree spanning several sheets. I have heard of rich storylines but this is going too far. Overall, seems to be a
