A serious book on bicycle racing. The former Olympic coach covers a series of topics that encompass the world of serious racing. He offers a training plan and covers all of the main racing events and how to train for them individually. Competition coverage included: Road Race, Criterium, Individual Time Trial, Team Time Trials, and Stage Races. As noted by the aforementioned coverage, this is a book for the serious racer, and not so much so for the casual rider.
I bout this back in about 84 when I started racing. It is a great book by a guy who knows what he's talking about. It's fascinating to compare it with recent bike racing books, the process of prepping for racing has changed radically in the last 3 decades. But this is still good stuff and i highly recommend it.
One of the most comprehensive books ever written on bicycle racing. Even though it was written a long time ago, it is a must for any cyclist with an interest in racing.
