Ritual is a universal language that gives substance and meaning to our lives. People are eager to honor the significant moments in their lives and Barbara Biziou, one of America's foremost ritual experts, teaches us how to restore ritual to its rightful place as food for the soul through practical, easy-to-use ritual recipes that are inspiring and fun. Rituals can enhance daily routines, enrich milestones, and guide us through difficult transitions. Whether you're releasing fear, bringing deeper meaning to a family or community gathering, or celebrating an important event, THE JOY OF RITUAL is like a wise best friend that reconnects us to our hearts and souls.
Mainly made up of examples, I can't say I found this particularly handy. If you aren't very familiar with the concept of creating your own rituals, it's probably a good starting place. I found the author very likable.
This is a great book to have in your collection. In the first part of the book there is a nice explanation of what ritual is followed by tools of the trade and objects/methods you can use to enhance your own rituals. The rest of the book is arranged by ready-made rituals complete with an explanation, instructions, timing, shopping list, etc. as well as a short real-life example of when that ritual was used. You can easily just pick this book up at random to find a ritual or inspiration for creating your own (this is how I have used it).
This is mostly about being mindful and acknowledging life's passages as they occur. It includes a number of unusual rituals which I would never use. This is a creative slant, however, with unusual "tools" and would be useful to those who think out of the proverbial box.
This is a beautiful book that I came upon rather serendipitously....it’s a delightful read, full of inspirational ideas for making everyday life a little bit magical. I love it.
