It's all to easy to use words like brilliant or great when describing a book you have liked but these are words well suited to describing this wonderful fantasy. It very much crosses genres as it is both fantasy and Science Fiction, taking advanced technology and mixing it with elements of magic. The result is really quite mesmerizing and I quickly found my self lost in the story. A genuinely exceptional book, I can't recommend it enough.

What a wild ride. Ellison plops the reader into the magical, lucky, and bizarrely sheltered world of Glendyl Fenderwell and inexplicable events immediately swept me away. In that way, Ellison reminded me of Terry Pratchett's Discworld. He has built a completely realized, populated, and sometimes complex world but doesn't explain past events, species, or abilities to the reader until it is required for the st

I received this book from the author through the Giveaways Contest in exchange for my honest review. I have to say, this is quite a book. The world of the book is jam-packed with interesting plot lines, characters, background history on those, futuristic technology in combination with magical objects. I like this book's humor as well, it has a light-hearted sense of humor that I very much appreciated. In spite of some serious events in it, this book is upbeat and cheerful also due to the resilie ...more

Can't help but wish I read this when it was first released but glad I have found it now. As a big fan of SF I am always a bit suspicious when authors start playing around with genres but the impact here is amazing. E T Ellison has a new fan and I have some catching up to do!

I won this in a goodreads giveaway.

I had not heard of this book. The cover, title, and author photo caught my eye so entered.

4.5 stars

-.5 star I didn't skip life or stay up late to read this.

This book has many cool things melded together. Sci-fi, epic fantasy, mystery, sweet tech, magic, a dubious wanderer, dragons, and creatures all lend a hand.

You follow the lead character as she learns and sorts several viewpoints of history on a quest that could shape the future. The viewpoint drops in

Very good book. Can't wait till I can get the rest of the series. It started off slow but it picked up the the rest of the book. I would recommend this book and series to all sci-fi/fantasy readers. Good job E T Ellison and thank you for the book.

Be warned, Dear Reader. This is an Author's Review and possibly not to be trusted for dispassionate objectivity. But maybe dispassionate objectivity is overrated. You decide.

The first 15 times I read this puppy, I rewrote it immediately afterwards. Took me 11 drafts to get the original Chronicler's Edition ready for publication in 2002. Then I took a break from reading it to work on Book 2 in the Last Nevergate Chronicles. When I wanted a break from that worldscape, I worked on the first two boo

Like most people not born in a distant hypertech future, I was hatched the old-fashioned way. And as you can tell from my beard, not recently. Over the years I've had the good fortune of doing plenty of things I found interesting. In no particular order, these include working as a planner, a futurist, an evoluter, an entrepreneur, an art director/designer, a brandologist, a photographer, a copywri ...more
