Travels with Baby: The Ultimate Guide for Planning Travel with Your Baby, Toddler, and Preschooler

Rate this book
From award-winning family travel author and blogger Shelly Rivoli comes this revised and expanded second edition of her original Travels with Baby guide, which received a NAPPA Gold Award in Parenting Resources and was a finalist for two ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards (Parenting and Travel Guides). Travels with Baby helps parents plan virtually every trip they take with their child from birth through four years, from the earliest trips to visit friends and relatives to overseas adventures.

Airline and cruise line comparison charts, as well as all-inclusive resort and hotel comparisons, help parents pinpoint where their vacation dollars and time may best be spent, based on the ages of their young children, interests, and needs. Family road trips are also addressed in detail, as well as train travel with children in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. However, getting from A to B is only one small part of successful travel with the younger set, as the author and mother of three knows very well.

Additional sections offer a wealth of helpful information on topics including:
- traveling with children of different temperaments,
- managing changes in sleeping and feeding routines,
- reserving and using airplane bassinets for overseas flights,
- traveling with potty trainees,
- packing lists and checklists,
- traveler's health issues for young children and breastfeeding mothers,
- childproofing during travel, and helpful suggestions for where to travel when during a child's first years.

Plenty of money-saving tips are included along the way, as well as additional Web sites and resources to simplify travel planning for busy parents.

(I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.)

This book was very informative and helpful. There are a lot of new mothers that I know and I have shared the book with them in hopes that they find their lives more flexible instead of feeling like the baby prevents them from traveling. My sister is already planning a trip, that her and her husband were supposed to take before the baby, for the coming months. This book will provide insight and ideas about how, where, and when to travel with you new baby to five year old making it easier and fun again.

I’ve read many a baby book and many a travel text, and this is SO well done. Extremely thorough, very insightful, provides an incredible amount of accurate and up to date information with links, prices, item recommendations, websites, everything you’d need to know and resources for how to learn more.
It even goes through traveling temperaments and how to best fit your child needs emotionally, which I really liked since most books or articles talk about logistics and items alone.
Phenomenal resource, and something I will be turning to again and again!

The day this book arrived, my sister and I were packing for a beach trip. It could not have come at a better time than our very first beach time w| my niece! Everything you need is in here, from what to expect to checklists of what to bring to what really happens and tips. LOVED IT. Every type of trip you can take with your child is in this book, nine times out of ten. AND as if that wasn't great already, there is a wide spread of the child's age to differentiate all minor details.

This is an excellent guidebook for this very important subject, which I won via a giveaway here on Goodreads. I was impressed enough by the book that I mailed my copy to a friend who is a recent first time mother. She contacted me soon after to share her gratitude for the gift.
