This book is a solid four stars. Seriously though, it starts off by introducing the plot and diving the reader into a bunch of exciting scenes which under some circumstances would be confusing, but this book was easy to get into.
One thing that I did notice though from the very beginning were the similarities to The Iron King by Julie Kagawa (which I found okay) so I was initially worried that I wouldn't like the book ...more

Did I enjoy this book: I loved it. I spent an entire Saturday morning (and a bit of the afternoon) neglecting my family for this book. I didn’t make breakfast (I assume my son helped himself to a block of cheese or a half dozen dinner rolls or something). I didn’t make anyone (including myself) get dressed, and I didn’t even do last night’s dinner dishes. (Um, no. I didn’t do them last night either. Don’t judge.)

This story has a perfect balance between the human and the supernatural realms. Callie, a high school student, discovers her life is not what it really seemed to be, including her friends ... A good read with some really great twists and turns. Your tween and teen will love it! ... but I also LOVED it!

A perfect urban fantasy for fans of Aprilynne Pike's WINGS series. If you loved those books, you'll adore this one too!

MEL'S POINT OF REVIEW: FAERY MARKED BY MARY WAIBEL
(original review, expanded with fun gifs, etc is posted on my website's blog)
Quite a long time back, Mary Waibel requested that I read and review her latest book FAERY MARKED. When I say, 'quite a long time back,' I mean like, a while before it was released, she came to Jen and I with the request that we participate in her blog tour.
Of course, Jen reads and reviews a TON of books with Psychocat Reads Reviews, and we host a lot of book tours here ...more

Psychocat Reads Review of FAERY MARKED by Mary Waibel
(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
This is Mary's third run in with Psychocat's claws. THE MYSTERY PRINCE and QUEST OF THE HART both survived. Now it's time to see if the first book in her new Faery Series can make it through unscathed.
The Characters: Calllie is just trying to get through her senior year of high school when strange things start happening. While she may be young, she is also a strong characte ...more

What to say about Faery Marked? It's a young adult that reads like a teenager wrote it - which, depending on your perspective, could be good or bad (me personally? not a fan). Beyond that, I had to give three stars based on some plot points that made me go hm.
Callie, our main protagonist, finds herself swept up in the world of Faeries, Guardians, and all manner of creatures while she tries to save humanity. She, a human, has b ...more

The lovely author and folks at BookFish, the publisher, allowed me to take a peek and review the ARC of "Faery Marked." This book was spot on for the intended age group (12-18) or the over 18+ set that love YA like myself. The plot was clean and concise, but details whimsical and the romance just steamy enough not to overwhelm.
Callie is a likable heroine that does not suffer from what I like to call "airhead mode" (crushes on every fella, clueless to real world, derps from one action to another ...more

Mary Waibel kept me up all night with this book! Whenever I started Faery Marked, I immediately got lost in the world of Callie. The way that the author introduces the reader to the world in this book is so immersive. You can't help but be swept away by the vivid descriptions and wonderful writing.
Callie was a great main character. I really enjoyed following along for her, and it was so easy to root for her. There are a lot of unknowns and suspense with this book and the author does such a fan ...more

Faery Marked by Mary Waibel is a fun contemporary fairy tale. Our main character, Callie is dealing with some guilt from an accident that killed her parents, but she’s a strong-willed, smart girl who can think for herself, as well as take care of herself. She’s a character that readers can get behind and root for. Her love interest and the Guardian assigned to protect her is Reece. I admit, the care and attention he shows Callie is swoon-worthy, but for some reason I can’t really explain, my hea

After losing her parents in a tragic car accident, high school student Callie Rycroft lives with her brother, Alex and foster sibling, Reece. As if losing her parents isn’t enough for a teenager to have deal with, Callie is plagued by bad dreams and strange feelings. When Callie is suddenly plunged into a world where magic exists, her guardian is forced to give Callie a hurried crash course in the supernatural. This is a suspenseful read with a confusing riddle, chosen ones, cordials and a time

Multi-published YA Author Mary Waibel is a romantic at heart. Her love of fairy tales, fantasy, and happy-ever-after fill the pages of her stories.
When not twisting her own tales, she can be found with her nose buried in any book she can get her hands on.
Mary lives in upstate New York with her wonderful husband, hockey player son, and two cats. In the fall and winter she can be found at the ice ...more
