Most of this volume is a fighting tournament - our heroes reach a village where there's an Important Item, which will be awarded to the winner. It's a new chance for them to show off, doing amazing feats of magic in front of villagers who are mostly unfazed the destruction going on around them, hills cracking, things like that. (How does that make sense?)

The casual inappropriateness continues, too. Princess Elizabeth is shrunken by a conveniently placed shrinking mushroom and spends a part of the volume naked, lodged between the breasts of another female character. When she's passed on to Meliodas in a handkerchief, he raises the handkerchief. I know this is meant as comic relief, but really? Also, her response to this is, 'he treats me this way because he doesn't see me as his companion', which is... argh, girl, tell him NOT TO DO THIS SHIT. It doesn't matter whether you're his companion or not, that's freakin' inappropriate. So, wtf, author.

4.3/5

This entire volume is dedicated to a tournament. It's a totally fights based volume with basically zero plot progress, but it was super exciting seeing the different competitors, how they fight and with who they go against with.

Once again the main event is left suspended, it will be concluded in the next issue, so there are gonna be more pages dedicated to this tournament in the next volume as well.
I would have preferred to have it finished here considering how much space it was given already to it but oh well...

Luckily I really enjoyed reading this volume, way more than the previous one, even if it still was a filler book.

While this volume is primarily a tournament, I mostly enjoyed it nonetheless. The relationship between Meliodas and Elizabeth is starting to feel as if there is more emotional involvement, which is a plus, and seeing human-size Diane certainly changes the dynamics a bit. Not the strongest in the series, but still fun.

I enjoyed this volume. I think this will really be good in the anime.

Nakakaamaze mga manga artists. Cause it's not just the script, but especially the drawings of the characters, scenes and setting that they bring to life. 👏

Elaine: What do you want the Fountain of Youth for?
Ban: I dunno. I guess I figured that if I lived long enough, chances are something good would happen to me eventually. That's all. 🎶

This is a fun series with lovable characters. I like them all! And I love this cover as it has my favourite, the giantess Diane front and centre. This volume is framed with the new badguys plotting; who we don't know that much about yet except they're some new kind of Holy Knight group. Meanwhile, our gang and the Holy Knights who are after them meet up at a fighting tournament and we are in for a good old battle volume reminiscent of a Dragonball tournament. Numbers are picked and partners chosen, then winners fight in the finals. A good rush of a volume, keeping things light and there is a hilarious element to this story as Diane and Elizabeth are shrunk, but I won't explain that any further. LOL

I am enjoying this manga series immensely. The Seven Deadly Sins gather to participate in a fighting tournament that could win them Diane's sacred treasure. But when Ban and Melodias have to fight each other it turns to a brawl that no one will ever forget. Unfortunately for the Sins a group of Holy Knights are participating as well. This could get ugly. This series has really fast pace fighting action and is always filled with humor. This is great shonen series for those looking for something a little different from Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and other popular action manga.

4/5 Stars (%77/100)

I can see that it is getting better and better now that we know most of the main characters. This volume is mostly about the tournament which is one of my favorite arcs in the series. I'm loving the dynamic between Meliodas and Elizabeth. Ban is hilarious as always, I loved the names Meliodafu and Baan. It was a really good volume in general. I'm curious to see how this tournament is going to end.

I like this volume because it has a lot of fighting parts. I’m happy that Meliodas and Ban fights again!

They’re playing loose with the time periods. Apparently Ban was 17 11 years ago, but the fairy king forrest burned down 20 years ago, which would make Ban 8 at the time which makes absolutely no sense. The more I think about it too, the more it doesn’t make sense that Ban just accepted his sentence. Maybe it’s the “feel something” philosophy, but he admits that the executions are a hassle.

It’s really so crazy how this manga can have such good female character portrayals but simultaneously be so misogynistic (the groping, the way they dress). Genuinely Diane and Elizabeth are some of the best portrayals of strength alongside femininity that I've seen in traditional Shonen, yet we're always seeing them sexualised.

And the exposition again is an issue. Last volume it was Guila explaining everything (when it’s hard to understand how she would know when barely anyone else knows anything about the Sins), this chapter King is explaining Ban’s powers to Diane (who should know them) rather than Elizabeth. I guess this fits into a broader critique that the dialogue is quite cheesy.

Art is great the way fights are drawn really helps keep up with the order of events rather than being ambiguous like some manga. The fight between Meliodas and Ban, the design of Howzer's powers, the final page of Jericho and Guila, the impact that is portrayed when Meliodas unleashes his demon form. They all portray the emotions in the situation excellently.

Something I've never mentioned before is that Hawk is genuinely funny I love him. It’s like Hercule except he’s not a fraud he’s just delusional. Ban’s relationship with him is the best. He's comic relief done right, not taking up too much of the spotlight but being there when the story calls for it.

This volume is centered on a tournament with a few flashbacks that add depth to our characters. As tournaments go, this one isn’t really different, especially when it comes to manga. There are some really over powered players and some that are in really far over their heads. Still, the tournament is rather fun to read, mostly for the various commentary between the contestants. We get to see some new and old Holy Knights with this volume shedding some more light on some of the older ones. The one thing that really bugged me was Griamore’s ever changing body size; I swear, every time we see him in a new panel his body gets larger and he has more ripped muscles that don’t actually exist on the human body. Don’t get me wrong, I love the character, but the inconsistency kept drawing me away from the action, especially when his head looked so tiny compared to the rest of him. In this volume we also get to see more of Elizabeth and her relationships with the people around her, especially more development between her and Meliodas. I do have to warn some people though, if you’re uncomfortable with fan service this volume may be a bit tough for you to read because there is a lot more of it. There’s also a bit more gore, so this is not a read for the faint of heart.

This volume takes place at the fighting festival where the team has found Diane's hammer. This was one of my favorite episodes in the anime (have not finished this yet) so I was excited to read it. Always great seeing the quirkiness that is superhuman fighting that only impacts a small circle (no spectators were harmed lol).

But on the other hand, Meliodas is still up to his inappropriate shenanigan's, read harassments. I have one more volume that I had purchased before I am done reading the manga, not supporting this monetarily anymore (if I find them used or free, fingers crossed on the later, I'll read them). But it's still a scene by scene for the anime and I enjoy the story overall (except Meliodas).

I hear Meliodas improves down the road, and I hope that is true. If it turns out that way in the anime, I may be convinced to look into the rest of the manga, but for now, I will go back to FMA and The Girl From the Other Side (any suggestions on manga, I am all ears!)

2.5 rounded up because I am in a good mood today, and the fighting festival was one of my favorite scenes that I remember from the anime.

This wasn’t the greatest volume. It was like pulling teeth to get through it. (I’m not a fan of tournaments.)

While this is not the fault of the mangaka I have to give it 2 stars because the translation is god awful. I have not seen a printed manga this bad before. For example: Ban gives fake names for him and Meliodas to enter the festival fight. He gives them the name Bain. Then later they keep saying Baan then the next page it’s Bain again. Another example is the characters name is Taizou but they keep putting Taizoo. Well which is it? Not to mention the grammatical mistakes here and there. Also I’m unsure of what attack names are because they use multiple names and don’t stick with one.
I still enjoy this series but pray the translation gets better. (Kodansha)

This volume's main focus is on a fighting festival in one of the cities, and Diane becomes smaller so she is able to enter. It was nothing special, a little bit of a filler with awesome battles but I loved it because the characters' abilities are always so crazy!! The battle between Meliodas and Ban was of course the highlight of this volume and seeing them fight was completely out of this world, can't wait to see more of their powers against villains.

Volume 5 of the manga that was turned into an anime of the same name. This volume covered the rest of episode 9 and continued through episode 10 and most of 11.

It covers the Viazel Fighting Festival. It is pretty much what you see in the show. There is a little bit more that indicates that they will be talking about Danifal in the coming volume, probably more than is covered in the show - but that is just a guess.

No major differences between this sho and the books this time.

I really like the festival plotline. Short Diane makes her first appearance and kicks some male ass.

Suzuki Nakaba does such an admirable job with 'Meliodaf' and 'Bain's' fights. You're not totally sure the whole time that Meliodas will win, but you aren't 'surprised' per say when he does. Ban put up a real fight.

Absolutely love the anime so figured I would give the manga a shot, and boy was I half I did. The manga is, in my opinion, far superior to the already outstanding anime. If you like the anime and story of The Seven Deadly Sins, give the manga a go, you won't be sorry.

The good:
-The Matrona mistery.
-Ban vs Meliodas battle.
-Again they tease Meliodas true nature.

The bad:
-Only battles.
-The story wasn't pushed forward.
-Uses a very Shonen cliché formula: A tournament.

This series is getting more interesting. I think, however, I'm going to stop reading here and just watch the anime for now. I think it'll be interesting but with so many volumes out and it not being done, I worry it'll get boring like most of these long series do :-(

Bon les tournois c'est ultra poncé comme concept de shonen. Encore une fois cette série montre son manque d'originalité. Les persos sont un peu moins creux et on espère des évolutions dans leurs histoires mais de manière générale c'est très simpliste.

Gotta love the fight between meliodas and ban was as awesome as it was in the anime!

So Far I cant see much if any differences between the manga and anime which is always a good sign. Looking Forward to seeing if that continues
