This story suffers from the "show not tell" syndrome. I am being told about this story in an overly simplistic and - dare I say - boring manner. I understand that this is a first novel but the writing style lacks grace and fluidity. It falls onto the page in too clunky of a manner making it hard for me, as the reader, to actually toe dip my way into the plot because I keep getting pulled out by poor or stereotypical writing decisions.

Sorry, not my cup of tea.

Vampire Next Door is a fast-paced, super-natural, romantic suspense novel by Angela Snyder. It has a well developed plot and characters that jump off the page and seem real. The novel begins with a Jane Doe, found barely alive by a hunter in the Pennsylvania woods. She’s stabilized by doctors, but remains in a coma for several weeks.

After a hospital visit from a mysterious stranger, Jane awakens and begins the process of recovery, yet she continues to have no recollection of her life before be

First of all, I'd like to start by saying that I'm not an avid critic. I don't review a lot of books and I definately don't get hung up on all of the technicalities and anatomies of a book.
I pay attention to spelling and gramatical errors while I'm reading (although I may have a few myself) and I found only one in this book. (Not saying there aren't more). That's almost unheard of, even with nationaly published authors.
I am personally aquainted with this author. We graduated high school togethe

Absolutely love it!!!! I fell in love with Jack in the very beginning and my heart went out to him and Jane. I wanted so much for them to have a happy ending but then you meet Sebastian. OMG talk about book boyfriend, I immediately could feel the love he shared with Jane before the accident and the love he still has for her. I also liked the secondary characters in the book. A must read!!! Can't wait to read more books from this author. ...more

I came across the Author on Twitter and when I saw that her first book was about Vampires, I downloaded the sample and found it so interesting, I bought the book.

When Laurel was brought unconscious to the hospital, she couldn't remember anything, not even her name. The hospital staff named her Jane Doe in the hope that she will eventually remember her real name. Jack was a very competent Consultant who was attracted to Jane. I liked the way the relationship developed between Jack and Laurel aft
"Jane Doe" is left in the forest to die. She is found by a hunter and taken to the hospital where she survives. The doctor watching over her falls in love with her. However, there is more than one person is loves and cares for "Jane Doe".

I think this would have been a great story, but the writing style did not work for me. I love vampire books and was excited to start this. The writing felt dry. I think it would have been better if it was written in one POV verses multiple POVs. I don't need to
This was my first book by Ms. Angela Snyder. I absolutely loved it!! Her way of story telling is truly magical. I am a sucker for Vampires and this book did not disappoint. Sebastian is just delicious!! And our leading lady, "Jane Doe" is such a beautiful character. The synopsis should be enough to make you want to jump into this awesome book, so I don't want to say too much, but it is filled with mystery, passion, hurt, beauty and never ending love. The story left me definitely want to more abo ...more

I enjoyed it. The characters were well rounded, and the plot was well thought out, and the girl found in the woods was a real catch of the attention. It flowed well, and you really felt for Jane and all she went through. I have to admit I worked it out before the end, but you still had to read how it all went down. It read as more of a romantic suspence, but the vampire element did give it a slightly different twist, and I have to say Sebastian made a really nice book boyfriend for the duration. ...more

I am SO mad at myself! I was constantly trying to guess what was about to happen and when I figured it all out I had to drag myself through the last chapters...

The first 30% of the book I was like:

I know it had its meaning in the story but I just found it boring...

BUT then Sebastian came into the picture...

Sebastian was hot, awesome, cute and did I mention hot?

I liked this book a lot but since I ruined it for myself I didn't enjoy it as

The cover drew me to this book and I like a good vampire book so that was two things going for it. I found out that the author is a PA girl so that was a trifecta.

This story is a different from most of the vampire books that I have read recently in that it really is not all about the vampire or vampirism but more of a love taken away, a sacrifice for the one you love, and then the journey of reclaiming a lost love.

The characters were well written and even though we are not given much of their ba

This is my first book by Angela Snyder and I have to say I like her take on vamps.

I won't go over the plot, it's a pnr and you can read the book blurb.

At the beginning you may wonder where's the vamp, trust me you'll get plenty of Sebastian. Jane, poor Jane she's been through it and doesn't even know who she is... She's alone too, but not for long.

I really liked the book set up with just a hint of vamp, when you do get to meet Sebastian it's more about how he feels about Jane more than him bein

Vampire Next Door is a marvelous read that shows true love and devotion layered in with some paranormal. Jane’s life is far from ordinary and that was before someone left her for dead in the woods. Now, she’s trying to live life as best she can with no memories of her past. Tragedy never seems to leave this woman alone and sometimes you need to fall into pieces before you can be put back together again. Vampire Next Door is an emotional thrill ride of a read. Just when you think you’ve got t

Vampire Next Door by Angela Snyder is a different twist on a paranormal love story.

Jane Doe was left, unconscious and barely alive, in the middle of a forest. She wakes up in the hospital with no memory of her life before, or even how she was hurt. With no one in the world left to claim her, she falls in love with her doctor and becomes Jane Walker. On the death of her husband, her whole world is turned upside down. Again.

Enter Sebastian Alexander. The sexy vampire next door. Except, he may have

Let me start by saying I don't write many reviews and it takes a lot for me to give a 5 star rating. I've been wanting to read this book for a few months now but was finishing up several serials. I thought this was going to be another vampire book but once I started reading I couldn't put it down! My thoughts within the first few minutes of reading were why did I wait to read this and I need to read faster! Vampire Next Door sucked me in and had me wanting more! I really enjoyed this book. The story was compelling, the time frame (the book crosses over a few years) was well done, and the characters were all unique with good voices. The author had me guessing on who the villain was, and I enjoyed the way she blended romance with suspense with a good mystery.

Oh this book was heartbreaking at times, sexy and oh so good. I really loved Jack and in a sick way I loved Matt. Jane is a fighter, but the end of the book left me wondering. Will there be a book 2? Will she change? You did a wonderful job big fan.

From my blog :

Vampire Next Door is the story of a woman left for dead who wakes up from a coma. She has no memory of her past and is called « Jane Doe » since no one came for her. Scared and broken, she quickly understands she never was alone thanks to her doctor, Jack Walker. At the begining of the book, Jane Doe is lucky and loved, and after months of being in a hospital, she finaly is happy. She had found her balance. But unfortunatly, tragedy strikes again and she is once again lost and brok

This book is good; full of plot twist and foreshadowing. I gave it 4-stars because I had a little trouble following the time jumps and it's predictability. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Jack felt an instant connection with his patient and would spend every night talking to her before heading home after a long day at work. When she comes to, he ends up being t

What can I say about this novel by Angela Snyder besides it was pretty darn good?!?! I was pleasantly surprised at how this novel grabbed my attention and held on to it until the very last page. I have had case of book hangover after reading about the life and loves of Jane Doe, the heroine of the story. The novel begins with a hunter finding an unconscious woman in the woods with no identification and once she awakens after being in a coma for three weeks, she doesn't have a single memory of th ...more

Loved it! Loved Sebastian, totally fell in love, he is like the perfect vampire. I liked that he was different from what I normally read with vampires, they are usually warriors and bad and tough but Sebastian is none of that, he is kind and gentle and nice. Now don't get me wrong, he was very strong and very protective of Jane. I loved that he wanted what was best for her, everything he did he did for Jane.
Now I have to say that I was totally in love with Jack and was wondering for the longest

"A Great Story Which Will Enthrall You"

I have to say, I'm not a big fan of vampire stories, but this outstanding story grabbed me right from the beginning and clung to me till the end. As an old man is enjoying a casual trek on a mountain trail, he takes a tumble, raises up, and looks at what caused him to fall. He's stunned! A woman, badly beaten and injured lays on the wintry ground laced with snow covered leaves. She's barely breathing and covered in blood. He calls 911 and she is swiftly mo

I downloaded this title after reading the 'blurb' - which is unusual for two reasons. 1. I generally use the look inside feature for a new-to-me author and 2. This is a vampire story and... I was pretty sure I was 'off' those, after reading far too many of them in the past.

However, after coming across this author via twitter, then Facebook, and finally on Amazon, and being impressed with the 'blurb', my gut was telling me to take a chance - which I suppose is a win for both me and social media?

This was a wonderfully written delightful read. It’s not just about a woman left for dead in the woods and her struggle for some kind of normal life, it is so much more. The struggles this woman, who is called Jane due to her lost memory, goes through express just how cruel life can be and how strong a person needs to be to make it through these times. Yes the handsome stranger that moves next door is a vampire but you find he is so much more than that. This story takes the read on an emotional ...more

Vampire Next Door is an edge of your seat, romantic, paranormal thing of beauty that will have your eyes screaming for more. I was hooked before I cracked the book open as the cover, as plain and simple as it once was, gave an eerie, dark feeling of what was to be expected. The cover was spilling with anticipation and this novel clearly delivered in all aspects. From the onset, the author reels in her readers by using imaginative and figurative language in addition to a writing style that leaves ...more

I’m not going to waste anybody’s time by putting up spoilers on this review but obviously, anybody who can read would be able to tell that there is a vampire involved in this book. And what a dreamy vampire he is!:)This book is a love story first and foremost but with elements of suspense and darkness. It might be predictable to some but I still say it’s worth 5 shining stars! I had my suspicions at some points in the book but the author still managed to surprise me at each and every turn. It is ...more
