Impressions are made, whether it's that first glimpse, a random encounter, things you have heard about someone without first meeting them, or any number of things. They all lead to an impression, that first and immediate perception of mind or sensation each person has about another.
You form an unconscious impression, based on your visceral reaction. Many times our reactions and the way we interact is due to how our impressions are colored.
Yet… What goes beyond that impression? What happens when you move beyond it and delve into the deeper reality of who a person is?

After an unexpected kiss, a man finds himself with a dilemma…
Gregory Morris has a problem. He isn’t gay, but he’s attracted to one of his best friends and has no clue what to do about it. Gregory decides the best way is just to kiss him and let nature take its course. With that one kiss, Gregory finds himself wanting his friend even more. Now he just has to prove that he is serious.
Braden Charles notices his friend Gregory seems to be avoiding him and he has no clue what he’s done. When Gregory finally says he wants to talk, Braden is relieved to find out what is wrong, that is until Gregory kisses him. After the kiss, the idea that his friend wants him when he is not gay bothers Braden. He’s not going to be drawn in by a man who is only gay for him—it is myth and will only lead to heartbreak.
Gregory’s next action is something Braden never expected and he has to face the fact that Gregory is serious. Braden has a man who he can see in his life forever but does Gregory think it’s an experiment? Attraction builds in a slow burn that will last forever.

The title is Slow Burn which basically implies something delicious is simmering over low fire that had been set to kindle for quite a bit of time and allowed the flavors to mesh together.
The impression I got when reading this particular installment was: wham, bam, the end.
It is true that Greg and Braden were a mighty hot couple to think over when first reading the blurb and after reading the first books of this series. However, this was just was not that hot nor was it that erotic either.
I do like how their story came out. The angst of Greg's father added a little bit of spice to this stew but basically what overwhelmed this particular story was the fast pace of the plot that got too fast and out of hand and came out half cooked. I am happy that Greg and Braden got their own story at last, but really, it was Clint that caught my attention.
For entertainment factor, this was just a bit too fast paced and this came out more like a short read. It would have been nice to have a bit more depth to the story and it would have made the romance between these two men sizzle.
Do I regret reading this? Definitely not. It was a nice read overall but it did come out as a light and short read when really, it was not.

Slow Burn isn't my favorite in the Impressions series, but it's not the worst either. Actually, out of the three that I rated three stars, this one would probably be my favorite. Why? Well, I love Niall and he was both mentioned and appeared in this, so it made the book a lot more enjoyable for me.
I loved the friends to lovers things, the misunderstanding with the father, and the acceptance from Gregory that he wanted Braden. So why three stars, you might ask. Well, this was just too short for me to give it any more. Yes, it covered everything and closed things off. But I prefer something I could really get in to. And with this, I was into it and then it ended.
So would I recommend this? I would say, if you like the rest of the series, yes. But if you want to see what you think of this series, read one of the first three books.

Much part of this short story appeared to pass quasi mechanically, with a monotonous tone, no sparks and not much angst, although there's certain improvement toward the ending.
What I liked most was Clint, I hope that his story will be better, because this series is falling off.
