Tonio Hölschers Werk ist eine ideale Einführung in die klassische Archäologie. Von der allgemeinen Einordnung der Wissenschaft über die Geographie der griechischen und römischen Kultur über die Architektur und Skulptur bis hin zur Ikonographie der Götter und - nicht zu missachten - einer einführenden Bibliographie ist alles enthalten. Für alle, die sich also mit der klassischen Archäologie beschäftigen wollen, sollte dieses Standardwerk zuoberst auf der Leseliste stehen!
