Alareik is a Cupid, and get that image of a diapered baby with a bow and arrow right out of your head. Cupids are all six foot Gods of love, invisible to the mortal's eyes, who are sent down to Earth with their daily assignments…to help mortals fall in love.
Alareik is the most popular Cupid out there, and not only is he the hottest Cupid but he’s the most compassionate. Alareik stumbles across a mortal who has a third eye. Sapphire, a waitress no one would take a second glance at, can see the invisible Cupids. Alareik has never met a mortal who could do this. He’s put on a special assignment to figure her out.
Alareik willingly accepts this task and finds himself falling for the plain and peculiar girl. Sapphire’s love for life changes this Cupid’s heart forever.

Phoenix Rayne is the alter ego of a small town girl in Arkansas. She’s an avid reader and enjoys hanging out with her closest girlfriends and dressing up for dinner parties. She released her first book in November of 2013 and has been ecstatic with the incredible backup of her work.
Phoenix Rayne is the author of the “From The From Love to Loathe” series. The first installment of the Contemporary Romance Series is “Heels of Love”, the second is “The Enclave of Jyme”, the third is “Wounded Love”. She also has “Cupid’s Desire”, “The Marriage That Didn’t Stay in Vegas”, “All Torn Apart”, “Your Secret’s Safe with Me” series.
The first book I read by Phoenix Rayne was really fast paced.
Alareik is our tall dark haired cupid who has been tasked with looking after Sapphire, a waitress with really bad luck. Alareik is moved by her misfortune and that marks their fate. His need to protect and care for her leads him to do the unthinkable: he, the cupid, falls in love with a human. But can they really have a relationship?
The obstacles are many and so are the objections. Is there really hope for these two? Will the cupid get his love? One thing is for sure: you will never see the end coming!
Cupid’s desire was a fast paced, fantasy – romance book. You certainly won’t be disappointed. We have two amazing main characters and numerous secondary ones. Some are good while others are not so good. What’s important though, is the fact that Alareik and Sapphire’s love will enthrall you. A story of true love (without an arrow, I may add). They both deserve each other. They find one another at a time when they both need each other the most. They are lost but they discover themselves.
An amazing read!
Totally recommended!

REVIEW "Cupid with a twist "
What made the experience of listening to Alareik the most enjoyable? I want to say the narrator because oh my gosh he just brought this story to life.
What did you like best about this story? It is not like any cupid book I have ever read or listened to. We get so many different characters and the action was spot on.
Which scene was your favorite? The scene with the leprechaun
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? For the most part I was laughing out loud.
Any additional comments? Very unique story and I truly enjoyed listening to it. The narrator did a great job with every character which is always a plus.Phoenix Rayne
Cupid's Desire was a outstanding Fantasy Romance from beginning to end. The love and chemistry that Alareik and Sapphire shared drew me in and had me pulling for their happiness. The imagery was captivating to the point where I felt like I was watching it on the big screen whether than reading it. The love and emotions that were shared between the two was indescribable to say the least. The mixture of Fantasy and Romance was great just the right balance.
The characters were extremely well developed from the way the look ,to the way they act and respond to things within the story. The emotions that Alareik and Sapphire had for each other was pouring off the pages. Alareik was in search of himself, and his true purpose in life. He pulls you in from the first page one of the reason why is he is like no other cupid. Alareik believes in true pure love not the arrow love.
Sapphire was in need of some inward healing, some answer to who she really was, and what her destiny was. Thru all her bad luck, she found protection, happiness and love with Alareik. But will the love withstand the test of time and bring them back to each other? I hope so.
In conclusion, this was a phenomenal read that taught patience, love, trust, and morals. I cannot wait for part 2 …..
Alareik is a tall, muscled, caramel colored Cupid, while Sapphire is a voluptuous cocoa colored waitress with a third eye that he is assigned to study. In doing so he becomes compassionate to Sapphire's ill fortune and sees the need to protect her at all costs. In the end, he does the unthinkable for a Cupid, falls in love with a human. Will their love be ill fated or will the two find a way to be together despite all those who object to their union, including the jealous, conniving Ilithyia? The ending will leave you breathless, wondering if there is hope these two will find the happy ending that those assigned a Cupid receive.
Cupid's Desire is a pleasant mixture of fantasy and romance where you really root for the male and female lead to get together despite seemingly impossible odds. Alareik is mouth watering as a popular Cupid that helps couples get together and Sapphire makes us unlucky average sized women feel as though we have a chance with the dream guy we fantasize about. This read is filled with countless interesting characters, magical and human alike, and the leprechaun, in particular, provides levity to the story. I, for one, can't wait to see where the continuation of this story takes Alareik and Sapphire.
This story was different. I enjoyed the concept and the fact that it was solely in the male lead's POV as with most books the female's POV dominates in the romance genre. I had a tendency to lose my understanding of the plot. Everything was happening so fast I had to re-read pages sometimes to try and get back on track. There were a couple of times that I just didn't understand what had just happened. I enjoyed Alareik's character. He was a gentle soul and I got a kick out of his constant reference to "the beast" in his pants...that was a first for me in all my reading.
I liked how the story started out giving the reader a glimpse of Alareik's daily Cupid duties. It was insightful. The storyline itself was cute but it needed more. The plot could have been "slowed down" a bit and been given more details as to what was happening. Characters were introduced so quickly (almost rushed) as the story progressed that you don't really have the opportunity to connect with them.
The story's ending did give me the impression that there may possibly be a follow up so I'd be interested to see where the story goes, if that's the case.
Cupid's Desire is a wonderful book full of mystical creatures and enchantment. Phoenix Rayne has been able to bring the mystical world to the human world by making a Cupid and a human fall in love.
Our Cupid is the tall dark haired handsome, Alareik who is given an assignment to look after, Sapphire, who is a plump girl with a lot of bad luck. But in his heart Alareik see something more.
There are other wonderful characters who surround these to destined lovers, who help them find the way to fulfil their destiny.
You will be enchanted by the story and find yourself wanting to see what happens, you will feel their love and pain and be surprised by the secrets that have been kept and how the journey hits walls
Phoenix has created a wonderful story that can be interpreted into modern day society, how we are all looking for that one person to spend the rest of our life with.
As much as I did enjoy this book I was left deflated a little at the end and feel there needs to be a second book to see how these to lovers journey ends. I can only give it a 3 1/2 stars because of this.
A Cupid and a human, what a great match. Alareik and Sapphire are such a cute couple. I like the fact that the image of Sapphire is real. She is a plus size beauty who doesn't recognize her potential yet. She has a 6th sense that she really doesn't understand, she just knows it's there. Alareik is a Cupid sent to establish that first interaction of true love in humans. When Alareik meets Sapphire, he is amazed and eventually she becomes his ward. I love fantasy/paranormal type books and this one was great. The plot, story line flow, character interaction and the overall enjoyment was Awesome. I highly recommend reading this one, you will not be disappointed.
This was a great read. I really enjoyed the story line. Phoenix Rayne has done it again. This book was a great mix for me for fantasy and romance. I love the innocence and mystery of Sapphaire and Alareik growing emotions. Phoenix Rayne will make sure your entire image of a cupid is forever changed. I have a new love for fantasy romance. This book was refreshing and outside of box a defiantly a page turner.
I don't normally read fantasy but as I've loved Phoenix other books I though I'd give this a chance. I wasn't disappointed.
I was a bit wary starting this but that didn't last long. The author did a great job with this story. The words flowed together to make a great story. I loved the visual of the characters. My image of a Cupid has certainly changed to a much nicer image:)
Interesting concept, never thought a Cupid could be this enthralling, I like fantasy creatures and I found a bunch in this story. I hope there is a second one. Nice light read. Alareik and Sapphire are quite a couple and would love to read more about them.
This was a really nice read. I hope that the author finishes with a part 2. The end left me wanting more details as it was a really good cliffhanger :)
