*****5-Amazing start to new series stars*****

The lines are blurred between justice and vengeance in Christy Reece’s NOTHING TO LOSE, the first book in her brand new Justice Grey Series. In a well-drawn and incredibly riveting story of despair and redemption, there’s a war raging against evil doers who use their power and influence to manipulate the legal system for their benefit. This author is a pro at blindsiding readers with twists and turns they’ll never see coming. At times it will most likely provoke one to question your concept of justice and your stand on morality while keeping you entranced from start to finish.

Packed with action – suspense – heat – and heart, this one is a high caliber page turner!

Highly recommended.

Quick summary
Kennedy O'Connell was living the ideal life. Almost overnight everything fell apart, her life irrevocably changed. As if that's not awful enough, circumstances dictated that she leave everyone and everything she loved behind and disappear in order to stay alive. Detective Nick Gallagher, under similar threats, vows to devote his life to making those responsible for almost taking his life pay.

Grey Justice is a billionaire philanthropist who has a secret side where he's made it his life's mission to be the champion for justice. The real action begins when the lives of these three converge.

The bottom line
I'm jumping directly to the bottom line because to mention any more details would just ruin this story for others. Kennedy is a wonderfully crafted character who goes through a few transformations in response to the hands life dealt and comes out formidable. She's not perfect, just incredibly admirable. The romance is seamlessly interwoven and the action is perfectly paced. The tension is constant, which had me at times both reluctant to put the book down and unable to continue because I'm a wuss. Lastly, Grey is an enigma and aptly named as he operates in that "gray" area of the law. I'm left wanting more of this unusual man.

This book is a great start to what promises to be a compelling series.

Nick’s raven tattoo?

★★★★½ “Holy heart failure, Batman!” Why have I never read a Christy Reece book before? This one kept me up until the wee hours reading.

What a wonderful first-in-series Romantic Suspense. Kennedy O’Connell’s story starts out with a ton of sadness, and I knew it going in. So, I tried to distance myself from her character at the beginning – at least until her hardships were over. Didn’t work! I ended up with a tissue to my eyes anyways.

Both Kennedy and Detective Nick Gallagher were well developed, extraordinary characters and Grey Justice was fantastic. (Although, he remains a man with plenty of secrets; hopefully, to be revealed in later books in this series.) There is a ton of action here and the story flows beautifully, which was great, because I couldn't gobble it down fast enough. After all, I needed to find out what happened! It is a delight to read a novel that is so well written and edited it doesn’t pull you out of the world, but sucks you in. Deeper and deeper.

Ms. Reece does a nice twist here in that you know who the villains are - but then again, you don’t. And how are the good guys going to triumph over such a sinister misuse of power and wealth? The secondary characters are well-drawn, too. Loved Irelyn; I can’t wait to get to her story.

The book spans about a two-year time period and it is all well executed and perfectly paced by the author. I enjoyed their journey to justice, the suspenseful ambiance, the excellent dialogue. The character development continues through the book, the experiences change them; past incidents and tragedies bring about their commitment to their cause and their determination, making it all believable. As they get to know one another, you get to know these characters along the way, and they – and their love story – are worth knowing.

Can’t wait for the next in the series!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Doing so did not influence my rating.

Can I just say how much I love Christy Reece and this book is no exception.

This is an awesome start to the new series. Not as dark as the LCR books, but it still had enough twists and turns to keep me guessing right to the end. There is, what I think will be a continuing arc throughout the series with Grey Justice (whom I just loved. Can't wait to learn more about him).

Nick and Kennedy were great. The thing I loved the most was that Christy didn't rush their getting together. They were friends first, and the emotions they felt for each other felt real and not forced.

Kennedy is an amazingly strong character, but one who knows her limitations and admits when she has made a mistake and doesn't know all the answers.

Nick is strong, tough, Alpha and protective but aware and sensitive enough to support Kennedy in her decisions and allow her to make her own choices.

Together they are a perfect team.

If you haven't read any of Christy's books then this would be a great one to start with. After all you have Nothing To Lose. :-)

The first book in Christy Reece's Grey Justice series. Kennedy O'Connell is a law student, married to a wonderful man, Thomas, and pregnant with their child. Life is good! Until one day her life is shattered. Circumstances have her running for her life and becoming someone else. Now she lives her life to avenge her husband. Nick Gallagher was best friends with Kennedy's husband and in love with Kennedy himself. He made a promise to protect her and he will. Even if it means his own life. Enter Grey Justice, billionaire philanthropist. With his help, Nick and Kennedy can surely see that justice prevails.

I loved it! Okay, why did I love it? It grabbed a hold of me on page one and didn't let go. It contained all the elements I needed to enjoy the story, romance, suspense, action, sex, a little humor, a bit heart wrenching, great style of writing, nicely paced, etc... Was it perfect? No, but the little things that kept it from perfect aren't worth mentioning. I am looking forward to this series and I highly recommend this book.

Ms Reece has seamlessly transitioned into the world of justice in her new series. Grey Justice, which is also the name of the series, is a man with secrets that runs a small organization who finds justice for those that can’t get it through normal means. There are plenty of things you come to expect from this author – tragedy, heartbreak, great characters that you instantly come to love, and an intriguing story.

description

Christy Reece is one of my favorite Romantic Suspense authors. However, I have been lacking in this genre the last couple of years, and haven't read many books in this genre, while it was one of my favorites years ago. I was shocked when I realized that the last time I read a book by Christy was back in 2013. So I decided that I would read three of her books before the year is over. Nothing To Lose is number one and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

This book made me realize why I was so addicted to this genre, when I first started binge reading. Thrillers were my first love, and the jump from that genre to Romantic Suspense wasn't a big one. I just love the suspense and mystery in this genre. I also love it when the female character is strong, and can take care of herself. Kennedy's need for justice makes it difficult for her to move on with her life. She lost her husband and unborn child, and wants the people responsible to face the consequences. The writing had a great flow and it was easy to read. I loved the relationship between Kennedy and Nick, and the sex scenes were HOT! I can't wait to read the next books in the series.

Won this one here on Goodreads. I was seriously excited not only do I love this author but the book came in signed!!

Christy Reese is know for her RS books. I was really looking forward to something new from her and man she did not disappoint. This book was just amazingly written. I am excited about this new series.

This book starts off with Kennedy happily married and pregnant. Her life was what she had always dreamed about and wanted. Then one night its taken away from her. She is left shattered and those moments made me tear up. It was so devastating and heartbreaking. But thankfully Nick who is Kennedy's husbands best friend is there every step of the way trying to help her while grieving on his own. But things are quite adding up with what happened to Thomas.

Nick starts digging and then in that one moment while Nick is fighting for his life Kennedy finds out devastating news about what happened to her husband and she is on the run and looking to get revenge against those who murdered Thomas.

Meet Grey Justice... Man oh man he is mysterious and so untouchable. He is one of the good guys but he doesn't play by the rules and he wants to help Kennedy and Nick get their revenge. But Justice has his own agenda.I have to say that I loved that there was many POV and the fact that we get Justice POV was great. He was so cryptic and just plain puzzling at times. There is a host of amazing characters and I hope they get a book. But I am dying to know more about Irelyn and Grey. She is just as cryptic as Grey is and its not all good. What are they to each other? What was their history? Why does it seem like a love/hate relationship/partnership? Dude why in the heck did he make her do that?? Why not someone else? That was messed up.

This book has great romance, lots of action, plenty of mystery and lots of twist and turn to keep you guessing. Overall it was one of the best books I have read this year. When is the next one coming out??

Since it's opening day for baseball as I type this review, Let me just say, Christy knocked it out of the park- home run! I loved this book, such an amazing start to a new series.

I am amazed at how Christy keeps you focused on the main characters and their storyline, but very subtlety introduces others you can't wait to read more about. I am intrigued by so many others, I hope she is busy writing their story's now!

Kennedy and Nick we're amazing and hot together. They more than earned their HEA, and Christy did a great job developing amazing characters you feel you know.

So many twists and turns, I love this about her books. Long ago did I stop trying to figure out what would happen next and enjoy the journey and this story does not disappoint.

I can't wait for the next book in the series. Read this amazing book and join the Grey Justice fan club with me!

3.5-4.0 stars. This is a favorite author and I liked the story, an intriguing page turner. The h/ Kennedy going to get justice for her husband and going undercover seemed unbelievable and the resolve of the case tied up a little too neatly and quickly. Liked Nick but wasn't sure how a happily married wife whose husband is murdered then falls for his best friend would play out well, but it does. Enough time elapsed that the romance worked. The Grey Justice part of the story will be interesting for future bks. Grey was sort of super hero-ish with a side of dark mystery. Interesting storyline for sure. The author left enough dangling loose ends to tempt me to read the next bk in the series. Hoping Kennedy and Nick will be around as side characters for bk 2.

I have always been a CR fan, but she has outdone herself this time. in Nothing To Lose, you get it all. Romance, in an unlikely place, suspense, chuckles and tears. I absolutely loved this story and can't wait to read more in this series. I admit, I am very intrigued with Grey himself.

He wanted her. Heaven help him…how he wanted her.

Kennedy O’Connell knows what loss is. Losing her parents as a young child, growing up in foster care all she wanted was a family of her own one day. And all her dreams came true when she met her husband and they were about to start their own family. Until someone crushed her dream, murdering her husband and in her grief she lost their baby and her only way to stay alive was to run. Her only choices were to cut ties with everyone she knows and to disappear forever under a new identity or use her new identity to make those responsible for her pain pay. For Kennedy there really only was one choice. She was prepared to get justice on her own, she never expected to find a partner and so much more in her husband’s best friend.

Detective Nick Gallagher strives for justice in his job but after his best friend was murdered and he himself targeted for death he knows catching the people responsible will take him outside the law. But Nick is determined to get justice for his best friend and the widow he left behind. Nick will do whatever he has to keep Kennedy safe because she’s always been more than just his best friend’s wife, she’s the only woman he has ever loved, even when it was wrong.

She had been frozen for so long, and she wanted to bask in his warmth. His touch made her feel alive. Her entire body burned with renewal.

I loved Kennedy. She’s a survivor and all the loss she has had to survive just proved how strong she really was. And after all the heartbreak she endured it was so wonderful having her get a second chance at happiness with Nick.

His eyes blazing fiercely, he shouted, “Fine! You want to know the truth? Here it is. The thought of that bastard getting his hands on you sickens me. The thought of anyone but me touching you sickens me. I love you, dammit! So there. Satisfied?”

Nick is an awesome hero, a little gruff and grumpy but I liked that ;-) And he was so sexy with how protective and possessive he was over Kennedy.

But now…now she was his. Nick could wait no longer…he’d loved this woman forever. Telling himself that he was selfish in taking what he desperately wanted would do no good. He had to have her.

There’s something so romantic about forbidden love and the fact that Nick had been in love with Kennedy for years, even while knowing nothing could come of it because she was married to his best friend was awesome. I loved how different Kennedy’s reaction to Nick was when she saw him again, how she suddenly saw him as a man and not just a friend, and the fact that he felt the same about her as he always did had me swooning all the way ;-) Their romance was intense and passionate and I loved it!

No, there was no one like Irelyn Raine. And he was damn glad there wasn’t. One Irelyn was more than enough for this world.

As always with this author the plot was action packed and full of twists and I especially liked Grey Justice, the billionaire who seeks justice by any means necessary, and his darkness and ruthlessness makes him even more interesting. His strange and intense relationship with Irelyn Raine, and the hate/lust vibe between them makes me very curious about knowing their story.

Christy Reece writes such gripping and sexy romantic suspense and this book was no exception. An excellent start to a thrilling series and a must read for all RS fans.

I have always enjoy Christy Reece's writing. I found her a few years back by happy accident and I have enjoyed each and every book I have picked up by her. Nothing to Lose is a new series and I cannot wait until the next installment! I want to know much more about Grey Justice, and I am hopeful that H/h Nick and Kennedy will be a part of the series along with some of the other secondary characters. Nick and Kennedy were an amazing couple and I enjoyed getting to know them. I love her spunk and his grit. This is a great mystery with a couple of twists that I didn't see coming. This is different read, you know who the baddies are, it is just a matter of how they get caught. Such a great plot. I wish there was an epilogue though. There were questions left in my mind that I hope will be answered with the next installment. Overall though this books delivers as always.

This was another awesome book by Christy Reece. This book made me cry in the first few chapters, which is highly unusual, but it just got me even more interested in seeing what would happen next. I knew the entire book wouldn't be this sad. All of huge characters are great. Really loved Kennedy's character, would like to think I would be able to be as strong as she is. Nick is one of the great hero's of Christy's books. If all of the Justice books are even half as good as this one, I can hardly wait. I am not a big fan of Grey Justice but I am willing to give him a chance in the next books.

Mea culpa, I wish I had gotten to this sooner, having mistakenly thought this was a legal romance that I typically drag my feet into. But Christy Reece’s ‘Nothing to Lose’ surprised me when I began and couldn’t stop.

The concept here is somewhat similar to Reece’s LCR series—victim advocacy, to put it in very, very broad terms—, only that it’s funded by a billionaire who wears many hats, carries a messiah complex and tries to remain shrouded in mystery as he goes along picking out people to help. But Grey Justice, the shadowy figure who pulls the strings of many puppets, is thankfully one of the good guys, or so we think, and his job is to help a detective and a woman who has lost everything to get to their goals, because it serves his own hidden agenda.

By and large, ’Nothing to Lose’ unravels a sweeping plot with enough hooks and tendrils to stretch over a series of books and written into this is a quasi-forbidden-type romance which I was pleasantly surprised with. Kennedy and Nick—the best friend of her murdered husband—are a solid-enough pairing that I could get invested in, despite the speed bumps along the way in a journey that stretches nearly 2 years.

Admittedly I do have a few, somewhat minor issues with Reece’s writing that typically prevent me from jumping straight into a book of hers. There’s the tendency to head-hop being one as we get deeper into the storytelling that confuses me (Reece holds a single POV at the start before this control slips from time to time), the almost-magical happening of things because money is no issue, the villains getting so laughingly evil/infantile they might as well be cut out of cardboard and the shades of grey that tend to divide themselves neatly into black and white as I read on.

As I said, subtle changes that bother me a mite bit, though it’s nitpicking on my part. The story’s well-written, with a heroine who shows remarkable strength after all that she’s lost, and a hero who is only slightly prone to stupid fits when it comes to overprotectiveness and jealousy. The (anti?)climax feels a little over the top in a popcorn-throwing movie, requiring a larger amount than usual of suspension of disbelief, though there’s always the sense that there’s too much unfinished business—a good enough hook to keep coming back—even as Kennedy/Nick rush off into their sunset.

How is that this book was rated by less than 300 readers? It is surprisingly good. Maybe not the best book I have ever read but still I spend wonderful time with it.

Even though some events are a bit impossible or unbelievable, it is an interesting and quick read. I enjoyed the suspense part, the whole idea is likely not the most innovative but it is definitely well-written and developed.

I also like the characters. The romance part is quite nice. However I would prefer it to be more developed. I find Nick's attitude toward Kennedy really sweet.

Looking forward to read another book in the series. I hope it will be about Grey. And I will definitely read other books by Christy Reece hoping they are as good as this one.

This is a new series from Christy Reece with a totally new feel and sound to it than her other books. Filled with loads of mystery and surprising twists and turns, it also introduces a hot alpha mystery man with both heroic and dark qualities. The differences in the writing style of this series and her other romantic suspense books in my opinion elevates her to her own place as a Patterson in the romantic suspense genre.

This is hooked me from the start! The exciting things happend in every chapters that kept my interest through and through. So fast-paged in intrigued! Exactly what I want for reading Romantic Suspense.

Kenedy's life is ruined by a super-powerful mafia family so she seek for revenge and gain justice for her dead-husband. But how will it be easy to destroy those bastards?

Power must be destroyed by Power..

Kenedy got the help from Grey Justice, a mysterious billionaire philanthropist and Nick Gallagher, a detective and her husband's best friend who is secretly in love with her.

This is kinda remind me of The Dark knight 'Bat man' about a powerful billionaire helps good citizen, but there is no Bat man in black hang out in the night, of course. Anyway, the plot is great! It is intense, having twists, and what can I say? So many unexpected things happened almost all the times in every chapters that made me want to know more and more.

I love Nick and Kenedy <3 Their romance is a bit heart-wrenching, but how can I not root for Nick? He is that protective, caring, fierce, and strong sexy man who has secure love for one woman for his entire life. Poor man have been in love with his friend's wife for years, but anyway Nick is a loyal man and so perfect for Kenedy, that's all!

And there is this enimatic powerful billionaire.. Grey Justice I want to know more about this man, oh please! Grey is ruthless, intrigued and overall interesting. Also.. Irelyn who I love too. She is such a lively character, feisty and sassy who I am rooting for Grey all the way! I want to know more about her, as well.

I think the story of Nick and Kenedy is already done in this one, but since the series names Grey Justice so.. is the sequel will be about new story with new hero and heroine but also involve with Grey? I'm really looking forward for the next one.

How would you react if your life were pulled from under you viciously and with intent to hurt? Would you fight back or just accept it as fate dealing a bad hand? Unfortunately for Kennedy O’Donnell, justice went the other direction and she had to make a tough choice to either disappear to save her life or bring justice to her slain husband and her lost baby.

Teaming with her best friend Nick Gallagher, and with the powerful presence of Grey Justice, a billionaire and philanthropist, behind them, they strategically and methodically plan the downfall of the people responsible for creating havoc in their lives.

Having read Christy Reece’s LCR series, a series brimming with adrenaline mercenaries, fast and furious covet operations, high-end stakes and nerve cracking and nail biting escapades, the “Grey Justice” series has a different flow. I loved the way she choreographed the story at a calm pace, with reasonable thinking and strategic planning, yet not losing her grip over the story and the thrill of the ride. And never once are the emotions, trauma, and pain were underplayed.

And she’s cloaked her characters with layers to peel like an onion! I believe we haven’t even nicked the tip of the iceberg called Grey Justice and his personal nemesis Irelyn! They are two complicated people dark as midnight, with shadows of a painful past dogging them just a hair breath away, yet laying their lives and resources for innocent people in that grey area of justice. I would love to see those layers peeled to get to their hearts.

Kennedy O’Connell stole my heart with her courage and perseverance, her stubbornness and focus. Nick Gallagher was just the right person for Kennedy with his amazing cop skills and his everlasting love for Kennedy.

Looking forward to her second book, "Too Far Gone"

Christy Reece’s NOTHING TO LOSE, the first book in her brand new Justice Grey Series. This story starts off with Kennedy as one of the main characters who thought she had the perfect life and a loving husband with a baby on the way. Then in the blink of an eye her husband who is a cop was shot and killed in what is thought to have been a robbery. After hearing that her husband was killer she soon loses their baby. Phenomenal!!!!! Fantastic start to a new series.

Kennedy has the perfect life.. a loving husband, baby on the way and good friends. Then one day she loses it all. Her husband, a cop, is killed in what is thought as a robbery. Then days later she loses her baby. She finds a letter from Thomas that gives her instructions on how to disappear because he was after a very powerful man and he wants her to hide. Nick was Kennedy's husbands best friend and fellow cop. When things don't add up about Thomas's shooting he finds out that it was a hit. But the informant is killed and Nick is shot in the head. Almost two yrs later a man comes to Nick, he knows where Kennedy is and needs their help to take down one of the most powerful men in the state. Kennedy is already undercover at one of the offices and is in position to get the info they need. Grey Justice runs a organization where they help get justice for someone they knew or loved.
If you loved her Last Chance Series, you'll love this. Romance, suspense, surprises, and make sure to have a box of Kleenex nearby.

While Justice is kind of a Noah in LCR, this is a complete new and very interesting new series from Ms. Reece. There is no dull moment in it, there are lots of twist and surprises. It starts on a sad note and end with a bang. It’s an incredible story that will leave you wanting to know more about some characters.

While Kennedy was the main character and a strong lead, Nick was the perfect balance for her. His volatile nature was muted when she was around, they grounded each other. He was a complete alpha that had to learn to take a back seat and let the love of his life take the risk. Chemistry was play beautifully given that she was very much in love with her late husband and they both had to learn how to move on.

All in all this was another hit from Ms. Reece.

When you have had everything you love torn away from you, you either bend or break.....fight or run. Kennedy O’Connell came out fighting, determined to make the person who ripped her world apart pay no matter how long it took her.
Detective Nick Gallagher was targeted to die but was able to cheat death. He too, came back fighting mad, especially when he realizes that his best friends wife, the woman he has been secretly in love with, is alive and well and planning some pay back on her own.
Together these two team up with billionaire philanthropist Grey Justice and embark on a dangerous hunt to gain justice in a world of high finance and political clout where nothing is as it seems.
I love Christy Reece's writing and this book is a stand out!

This was my first read by Christy Reece and really enjoyed her writing.
She will be on my to read again list.

This is the first of the series in the Grey Justice. Kennedy O'Connell is finally happy with her life. But things are quickly taken away from her and now she only has one thing on her mind - Revenge!

Nick Gallagher is the one that has always loved her, but because of friendships could not make his love known. Now he is thrown into
helping Kennedy get her revenge.

The book has some twists and it is really an enjoyable read.
Love the two characters together - Nick and Kennedy.

Can't wait for the next book in this series to come out!
