First, I really feel that readers should read the first book in this series, and see some of the interaction between Olivia and Dylan in the first book. Then you will understand why the book opens with such an intense, hot scene. Plus, the first book in this series is HOT.
Second, I'm going to apologize for the brevity of this review. However, while this book is not bad...neither is it something that has stayed with me after I finished. I had to look at the synopsis above to even remember the hero's name.
The writing is good, and the love/sex scenes can be steamy. But it feels to me like (I can't believe I'm saying this and I know you will be shocked too) there are too many sex scenes. I know. I can't believe I'm saying it. But when you find yourself as a reader feeling aggravated that there is "another sex scene" because you want to get to the meat of the matter between the two (Olivia's insecurities due to her past with her father and an ex), then something isn't quite right.
Again, it isn't a bad book at all. And I love Carly Phillips, I do! I really want to read Scott's story! However, this particular Dare story just lacked something for me, personally.
This was a quick, fun and sexy read... writing was good and I really liked the couple. I had not read any of the previous books in this series and I think it would have been better if I had. Then maybe I would have been a little more invested into their finally coming together. It also would've been nice to know the backstories to some of the other characters. I also need to add... and I feel really silly saying this... but I actually didn't pay close enough attention to the blurb and went into this kind of blind. The story revolves around football. I really, really dis-like football! And, because I don't like football it kind of lessened my joy of the story overall. So, if you are a fan of sports themed romances and enjoy a large amount of steam in your books then yes, I would recommend this series. But, don't start at book #5 like I did... start with book #1... :)
If you love sports novels as well as contemporary romances and family sagas with a bit of suspense chucked into the midst of it , then Carly Phillips's Dare Series has everything you need. I fell in love with this series after reading Book #1 and Book #5 Dare to Touch lives up to the expectation of the previous books in the series. This one focuses on one of the Dare sisters from the "first family" Olivia. It starts off with her birthday and of course , the one person she hoped would be there, missing it - her father. It then cuts to the male love interest Dylan Rhodes grabbing her and kissing her in front of everybody. It seems lately that all the "Dares" Children are in the mood for mixing business with pleasure and making the Miami Thunder business world - a true family affair as Dylan works also for the company. In this book we read as Olivia starts to open her heart to Dylan but of course she has reservations and what doesn't put them at ease is the fact that Dylan is cosy and friendly with his ex-girlfriend Megan who seems to always be needing Dylan's attention. Can Dylan prove to Olivia that she has nothing to worry about and that he loves her ? In Dare to Touch, we also catch more glimpses into Olivia's childhood as well as Dylan and notice a couple of similarities that are the root of holding them back, can they overcome their past issues in order to move on with the future ? Also when tragedy strikes and Olivia and Dylan find themselves in an awkward and dangerous position , their love will be tested - will it stand the tests of time or will we be left with the feeling of incompatibility ? Find out in Book #5 "Dare to Touch" and readers, you will not be disappointed with this latest release by Carly Phillips.
Okay, so why do I continue to torture myself reading this touchy, feely crap? After deep, soul searching analysis, I have determined that it's for a few reasons. I've liked previous books by this author and just didn't expect she had climbed aboard the Contemporary Crap Train. In this case, it is an audio book, so I was doing other things while listening. I just didn't expect the depths of angst I found in this book. So, that's why I read this book and actually finished it, next time I'll just DNF it and move on.
Sometimes love takes determination, patience, honesty and letting go of the past. If you are Carly Phillips, you will add explosive chemistry, two strong personalities, and steam, lots of scorching hot steam and come up with Dare to Touch. Olivia Dare and Dylan Rhodes have chemistry, but both have lived through a lot of pain to get where they are today. Dylan has decided that it was time to make his move on Olivia and did so like a linebacker barreling in for the tackle!Olivia is terrified of being hurt again, she has had enough of that to last several lifetimes and her ability to trust is non-existent. Can Dylan prove his feelings are not short term? Will old flames come back to re-ignite Olivia’s memories of the past?
Carly Phillips’ characters are fun, likable and so emotionally real; it was easy to fall into their story. Ms. Phillips must have used a blow torch to write those “intimate” moments, because I swear, I saw smoke curling up from my Kindle! With a quick pace, family interference, team interference and a few heart-stopping moments, Carly Phillips has added another hot romance to her writing achievements. I’d call it a Touchdown!

Olivia and Dylan keep you blissfully wrapped in the fifth instalment of the Dare To Love series. A story that was absorbing with delightful characters mixed with some questionable characters in a read that didn't shy away from drama and emotions shown by the characters. Lots of sizzling scenes between Olivia and Dylan and Dylan's character was an absolute sweetheart :D This is the Carly Phillips writing that we know and relish! *ARC Received from the Author
So far for me, this series gets better with each book, the first one I wasn't a huge fan of but the second was a major improvement, and this one is up to their with book two. I loved the relationship between Dylan and Olivia, I thought that it was great seeing their interactions with each other in previous books, so I was glad to finally read their book. I do feel that previous books might have been a little more misleading, to me their interactions in other books it seemed like they had a more of a personal history. In this book, it says that they didn't have any relationship besides a work-related one, but only had interest in each other, so that did throw me a little bit when I started this book. The relationship between Dylan and Olivia was fantastic, I thought that it was so great that Dylan has had feelings for her since they first met but let her have her space to push for more before he took over. I thought that it was great that when Dylan decided he wanted to pursue a relationship with Olivia he focused solely on her and wasn't with anyone else. Olivia was a great main character, I liked how she had her reservations about a relationship with Dylan but after wrapping her head around it, she was pretty open to starting something with Dylan.
Something that in my opinion that made this book better than the other books is that they were lacking breaks between when the story would switch POV's between the characters (I mentioned this in both reviews), but I'm glad to say that it was fixed in this book. There were breaks between characters and I could easily see where it would switch instead of getting confused and trying to figure out the exact spot where it went between characters. The ending was better than the previous, I really enjoyed that it didn't have the trope where something has to go wrong before one of the characters has to overcome their own personal insecurities. I liked that this revelation happened and nothing had to go wrong, I'm excited for the next book, I was originally hesitant about Meg but I'm excited to see how her character arc will progress in the next book after the events in this one. Also, it will delve into Scott more and he's a character we have yet to really meet, I'm very excited about this book and I'm planning on diving into it soon.
This was a good read. Dylan decides to finally go after Olivia and she agrees. She has some issues to deal with though. Thankfully Dylan is there for her and to help her through. Most importantly they get a happy ending together.
Carly Phillips does it again in this fifth installment of her Dare to Love series. Dare to Touch focuses on Olivia Dare, executive director, and Dylan Rhodes, the travel director for the Thunder. We see glimpses, albeit brief, of both characters in a few of the other books and are able to briefly see who they are and the attraction they have for one another. But THIS book, oh my *fans face*, Dylan begins it with letting his inner alpha male come out and play.
The story opens with Olivia celebrating her birthday with her friends and family, sans her father. Of course Robert Dare can't be bothered to attend his daughter's birthday even though this is the daughter who advocated his forgiveness with her siblings. Oh, the first batch of Dare siblings have plenty enough reason to hate dear old dad. Especially after they discovered the double life, complete with a secondary family, he lived for almost the entirety of his marriage to Emma -- their mother. Although Olivia puts on a good facade, her father's disloyalty and then a cheating ex, who irrevocably hurt her, scarred her desire to ever want to be a serious relationship. She does flings and is comfortable doing that.
But Dylan is not a man to be thwarted. He wants Olivia and uses her birthday event to make his play for her -- in a very grand manner. As the revelry of party continues, Dylan grabs Olivia by the hand and drags her from the room so that he can "give her her gift". And he does. BUT first, he melts her panties off with a scorching kiss that leaves her breathless.
This first encounter pretty much begins a whirlwind affair for the couple. Their boiling attraction simmers over and they have no choice but to give into their passions. As a couple, Dylan and Olivia get to see things about each other that they hadn't been able to see solely as co-workers. Olivia is able to see how much Dylan loves his family and children, and therein lies a huge problem for her because she has one big detail about her past that she doesn't immediately tell Dylan about. A detail that almost causes the demise of their relationship because Olivia seems not to be able to get past it. At first, Dylan is very patient with her as she comes to terms with his desire that they WILL be together. But Dylan wants the whole thing -- house, wife, children...and Olivia has "x" children from her future column because of her devastating past. Fortunately for her, Olivia's family is always there to love her and kick her in the butt when needed and they encourage her to talk to a professional. But Olivia doesn't even have much time to let go of her past when a serious incident with Dylan's friend Meg causes her to confront it -- head on. It's that incident that really makes Dylan realize that maybe he can't have it all with Olivia and he just might have to walk away from the woman he loves forever.
This story was sweet and sexy and I absolutely adored Olivia and Dylan together. Their relationship was not easy especially with Olivia holding a piece of herself back. But Dylan would not let her quit or retreat on what he knew they had together. The couple also had to face down a serious situation with a player's cousin that placed them in a life threatening situation. It's those situations -- the one with Meg and the cousin -- that force the couple to see what they really mean to one another. The end of the story will definitely leave you sighing *sweetly so* when you see Olivia and Dylan's life together. He gets it all and so does she. She is happy and settled and loved.
I also love how Phillips sets up the couples for her next story. I haven't decided who I want to read about first -- Scott and Meg or Avery and Greg. In either case, I know that I will love the story! This series just gets better and better!

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--DARE TO TOUCH is the fifth installment in Carly Phillips contemporary adult Dare to Love erotic romance series focusing on the Dare family. This is Olivia Dare, executive director of the Miami Thunder, and team travel director Dylan Rhodes storyline-a friends to lovers trope that finds Olivia reluctant to lose her heart-once again.
Told from third person point of view, the storyline follows Olivia and Dylan’s building relationship as they work together towards a common goal. As the Pro Bowl approaches, our couple find themselves trying desperately to keep one of their players from falling off the grid but influence from outside family members find the all star player succumbing to family demands.
Olivia is one of the original Dare siblings first introduced in Dare To Love-the daughter of Robert Dare who had kept secret a second family from his first wife and children, and a man who continues to disappoint his now adult kids. With a past mired in loss and betrayal, Olivia is unwilling to suffer through any more heartbreak but soon finds herself falling in love with Dylan Rhodes.
Dylan’s family history is shrouded in secrets and abandonment, and he fully understands Olivia’s need to protect her heart, but Olivia’s history of heartbreak and family loss finds our heroine unsure about a future with Dylan or any man who is looking for a family and more.
The prior relationship between our couple has already been established, first introduced in Dare to Love book 1. Their sexual chemistry is palpable; their attraction to one another mutual and addicting. Dylan and Olivia have danced around one another but the time has come for Dylan to claim Olivia as his own. The numerous $ex scenes are passionate, intimate and compelling-again, with a little bit of kink on the side.
The secondary and supporting characters include Ian and Riley (Dare to Love #1); Olivia’s brother Scott; Dylan’s ex girlfriend; as well as Dylan’s sister and her family . Several of the Dare siblings and cousins make a cameo appearance lending familiarity and continuity to the storyline.
DARE TO TOUCH brings the focus of the series back to the original Dare siblings with Olivia and Dylan’s story. Carly Phillips keeps the reader’s attention with the ensemble cast of characters for whom we want nothing more than a happily ever after. Carly’s storyline’s are fast paced, erotic, alluring and inviting. She will ‘dare’ you to keep reading-one love story at a time.
In suffering you can find your true path when they ease the pain inside your heart
Olivia Dare, executive director of the Miami Thunder, and team travel director, Dylan Rhodes share more than just a passion for football–their chemistry is explosive and their feelings for each other are intense. But Olivia is wary of any man getting too close. Given her background – a near-bigamist dad and an ex-boyfriend who merely enforced her lack of priority in his life – Olivia fears being hurt again but she can’t resist embarking upon a passionate affair with Dylan, even as she holds part of herself back. Dylan isn’t a man who does anything half way. Once he decides to pursue Olivia, he goes all in. When the Pro-Bowl takes them to the desert oasis of Arizona, Dylan is determined to make sure their time together isn’t all business. What happens while at the luxury resort is life altering but when Olivia admits her deepest pain, will Dylan be able to prove he’s a man with staying power? Or will Olivia be disappointed again, this time by the most important man in her life? (Amazon Blurb)
Another Dare novel and another moving and touching story. When I’d believe that there simply can’t be any better than the last I’ve just finished, Carly Phillips releases a new novel to add to her series and kicks me in the heart and twists it, reminding me that in life, it’s not all about the bubbles and sugar: sometimes, it includes the demons, shadows and the monsters that hide in the dark waiting to find the unsuspecting victims. In Dare To Touch we meet the sister of the family, Olivia Dare, a woman who does not trust men easily due to her past with men going all the way back to her father, and because of her inability to fully trust men, she refuses to let men get too close to her. That is until she has to work closely with Dylan Rhodes, a man who desires to be with Olivia and wants to show her how a real man treats and seduces the one he wants by his side. I do believe I’ve mentioned it more than once in my previous reviews of the Dare To Love series, but I’ll mention it again; the heat and chemistry factor is through the roof and the characters too easy not to fall in love with since their history becomes yours as you feel their pain and suffering. Carly Phillips is one author that has been on my to be watched list and will remain there for as long as she keeps writing, and the Dare To Love series, including this novel, Dare To Touch, one that I highly recommend to readers. . **Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and reviewed by Kathleen for Alpha Book Club**
Dylan was the epitome of an alpha male with a gooey inside LOL He was charming and sweet and persistent and never ever gave up! Olivia has had a tough time of it with the male species in her past. She hasn't had the best of luck not only with relationships, but with her own father. She's scared out of her mind to open herself up Dylan but Dylan manages to breath life back into Olivia. Into the passionate woman she deserves to be. And together they rock it like no other **swoon**
I loved that their HEA builds from a past of friendship. It allows them to know each other's issues and set-backs before hand and they both handle each other beautifully. They were explosive to read and I was sorry to see their story end!

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
This is the fifth in the series, and to my mind is the best yet. The underlying plot is in some ways similar to the others, but somehow the story unfolded perfectly. It was also more closely aligned with the sports elements that I enjoy a lot. We know from book 1 that there is some history and chemistry between Dylan and Olivia, so it is not a surprise that they get their story, but how it plays out is scorchingly hot, and deeply moving too. Ms Phillips knows how to excite and undo the reader - can't wait for the next installment.
Dylan is such a typical man when it comes to sex and not keeping his hands off his woman, "thank God, because he thought his c*** was going to explode. "You're up for more?" He's the type of man who can't go a day without seeing his woman, "I haven't seen you since yesterday, you're here now...so lock the door." He's also the type of man who knows how to give in to his woman's demands, "baby, I went to the nearest mini-mart at eleven p.m. last night looking for mint chocolate chip ice cream. It's not that easy." It was nice to see a Dare woman get some attention I mean the Dare men are all alpha hot but we needed to show the women some loving as well.
This book was infuriating. Despite several surprise pregnancies to characters with limited means no consideration is given to seeking an abortion. Also, when the "hero" learns why his girlfriend doesn't want to ever attempt another pregnancy he decides she doesn't really mean it. His disregard for her preferences is insulting. I was also pissed when he considers breaking up with her because he couldn't change her mind in about 3 weeks and really wants children. He doesn't even consider adoption, which would be a solution to everyone's problems.
I could not stand the way the male lead treated the heroine. When she set her boundaries, he trampled right over them. When she told him that she had a difficult past pregnancy (a miscarriage, I think), he had unprotected sex with her and told her she needed to face up to real life. Horribly abusive.
I love reading about the Dare's siblings. I really enjoyed getting to know about Olivia and Dylan. They were perfect for each other. I loved how they each could count on one another. Such a beautiful story.
I absolutely love the Dare family! i love how Olivia's brothers look out and support her and Avery. Both Olivia and Dylan are sizzling together. And the "beef" they have with their father's "other children" is out of control. Before I move on to book # 4, I believe I will re-read book # 1. I miss Ian and the rest of the crew!
It was good and at the same time I felt some parts were exaggerated a bit too much. I couldn't connect well with the characters in this book. However, I really did like the previous two books. I couldn't point out exactly what it was, but something felt missing.
That was their routine, one they’d developed when Olivia had started visiting her niece weekly. It hadn’t been easy at first, getting past her fear of losing what meant the most to her.
