Some people fantasize about vacations in Paris; I fantasize about getting an MFA in creative writing. There are so many reasons not to -- it's a vanity degree; I already have a career that I love; I don't have an extra $26,000+ lying around; I don't even really like "MFA-style" literary fiction. But still... the writing retreats! The focus on expressing yourself and on communicating universal truths about human nature! The ability to add another set of letters after my name! I want that.
