It seems to Mara Austin that the Lifelights have always been a part of her life. They're a secret she cherishes, the nearest thing to a family that she has and the one anomaly in her otherwise predictable existence.

On the day of her 22nd Birthday things begin to change. An American businessman, Sebastian Oran, visits 'The Tea Cosy' cafe where Mara works and a telepathic vo

I did not love this book particularly much. While cool in concept, beings that coexist with humans that are essentially energy, I felt like it took forever for the story to get started and for the reader to get information. The characters felt underdeveloped. And it was annoying that the main character didn’t feel the need to get more information about what was happening to her. Also there was way too much sex. It was excessive and unnecessary and this is coming from someone who is a huge propon ...more

When I was first introduced to the Lifelights by way of the couple of sample chapters, I found that I NEEDED to know exactly what they were exactly, guessing all sorts of things. Having read the entire story now, I can say that they are truly an amazing out of the box concept which, as a writer myself, I always fully appreciate - a must for me with any book - most unusual and impressive in their conception indeed.

For me this work had elements of Mills and Boons or a Harlequin romance sprinkled t

I read the final book in the series before I read this one. This makes writing a review a little difficult since I know how the whole saga ends.

I was struck again, as I was in New Age Light, by the originality of the concept. The central idea is that there are beings composed of energy who have lived on earth for billions of years and who pass among us as human. That, by itself might be standard science fiction fare. But here’s the clever bit – Lifelights are bonded for eternity, but in each of

Alina Voyce has created the ultimate novel; a unique blend of sci-fi, adventure, and romance that keeps you on edge to the very last page.

Until her 22nd birthday, Mara has led a fairly uneventful life, with the exception of the Lifelights. Instinctively, she has kept their existence a secret, though she has no concept of what they are or where they come from. To Mara, they are as close and dear to her as family.

Then sexy Sebastian enters the Tea Cozy where she works, and Mara's life is irrevocab

I first read this on webook as it was being written. The story is unique, and I kick myself for not thinking of it first. It's so hard to find a story as fresh as this, that I honestly can't say, "It's like this other book." There's nothing else like it. I love it, have read it several times, recommended it to all my friends, love the sequel, and can't wait to read 21st Century Light!!

Lifelights (The Lifelight Series, #1) by Alina Voyce

Mara Austin works at The Tea Cosy Cafe, she does not have much in life, no family just the Lifelights that only she can see. They are her comfort and joy. One day and American named Sebastian shows up, he is telepathic and talks to her mind. She is not ready to share her secret with him. But as they get closer she wonders what needs to be shared with him.

A very original story. Mara is very likable, young and innocent. Sebastian adds some myster

A perfectly agreeable, readable, enjoyable example of errr... I'm not sure what genre I'd call it. It's something like British indie paranormal chick-lit with a dash of X-Men thrown in? However you want to pigeonhole it, I think most people would enjoy it. Apart from "British indie", it's not really my preferred genre, yet I easily saw it through to the end and enjoyed it perhaps rather more than I'd like to admit. Voyce's writing style is very fluid, yet prosaic enough without becoming stodgy. ...more

I absolutely loved this book! (Spoiler)

The tension and attraction between Sebastian and Mara was intense, and Alina seemed to capture a whole new level of passion between these two. This is definitely one I'd recommend, the concept of energy and life cycles is actually pretty clever and very interesting. Loved the characters as well, especially Jennie, she reminds me of a close friend of mine. Folios stuff, I'll be starting book two here shortly.

What an amazing story, full of romance, intrigue and adventure. You're introduced to the Lifelights and left wanting to stay in their world to learn more about them. This is paranormal romance the way it's meant to be. Bravo :D
