BETTER DATE THAN NEVER is one of my favorite romantic series. Susan Hatler has a fun, witty, and down to earth writing style that make her books so enjoyable to read. All six books in one boxed set is a steal of a deal and every one of the stories will touch your heart and keep a smile on your face!

LOVE AT FIRST DATE (#1): Wonderful short story of Ellen's modern day search for love. This book was funny, sweet, cleverly written, heart warming and had a fantastic ending! I especially liked how the characters seemed real. Like people I'd know and be friends with, making it easy to relate to them and therefore the story. Gave me hope my Henry is out there... now if only I had a dog to take to obedience school! 4.5 stars

TRUTH OR DATE (#2): I LOVED Gina and Chris's story. I think it was very romantic how Chris used the ruse of needing a pretend girlfriend to spend time with Gina. Their role playing banter was fun and sweet at the same time. It was clear to me as a reader that Chris was totally smitten with Gina and had my head shaking at several points when Gina was just not getting it. Ms. Hatler has once again written a sigh worthy love story with a swoon worthy leading man and a realistic leading lady. Enjoyed revisiting with Gina's friends Rachel, Kristen, and of course, the bride, Ellen. Would have liked to have a little more of Henry, the groom. Overall this is a very engaging and romantic love story with a delightful HEA ending. 5 stars

MY LAST BLIND DATE (#3): Very sweet and romantic love story! Rachel finally gets her happy ending! Noah is a dreamy new coworker who after flirting with Rachel for months seizes the opportunity to make his move on Valentine's day! I really wish this story had been longer but what was there was wonderful! 4 stars

SAVE THE DATE (#4): I've loved Kristen's character in the previous Better Date Than Never books and was thrilled she'd have her own happy ending. Even happier it was with Ethan who she'd once tried to set up with Gina even though it was obvious she had a thing for him herself at the time. Ethan and her have many interests in common (which in Kristen's mind makes their time together non-threatening), but more importantly amazing chemistry. A large part of this story is about Kristen trying to find her confidence again after her ex, Jake, rocks her world and not in a good way. Her good friends, Rachel, Ellen, and Gina, and her new friend Melanie, are there for her as well as Ethan. He patiently waits for her and offers her his friendship and support while she figures things out. Her self doubts spill over into her friends lives a bit, but everything works out in the end. 4.5 stars

A TWIST OF DATE (#5): I really enjoyed reading a Twist of Date. It's a lovely balance of humor, romance, realism, friendship, family issues, and love. The main characters have worked together at a gym for awhile as good friends. Matt has deeper feelings for Melanie but can't get her to take him serious. Melanie is too busy looking for love in all the wrong places to give Matt a chance. But after too many bad choices her best friend and roommate, Patti, convinces Mel to live by a set of "boyfriend bylaws" for dating designed to force Melanie into thinking before dating. This book was funny (the closet scene is hilarious), heartwarming, and ends with more than one kind of HEA for sweet Melanie. 4.5 stars

LICENSE TO DATE (#6): Susan once again delivers a wonderful romance that's also about great friends who never let you down, but also don't let you stay down. Kaitlin got the bottom of the barrel with her last romance. "I wouldn't have dated her if I'd known she was your sister" was his apology for cheating. So she's taking a break from dating and who could blame her. Her friends, Ginger and Kristen have given her a few months, but think it’s time for her to get on with her life. They bribe her into going on five dates. Each more hilarious than the last, but what they have in common is the Geoffries Hotel and Paul, who is bartending there the night of her first date. Paul is charming, gorgeous, and well, just dreamy and irresistible. Kaitlin can’t keep him out of her thoughts no matter how hard she tries to convince herself she should. Paul was my hero, and Kaitlin’s after the rappelling save and that amazing kiss gone viral. I love how their romance plays out, so sweet, and clearly meant to be. *sigh* Don’t miss out on this one, it’s a 5 star read!

Since this is a boxed set, it is easy to say that you should read all the stories, although you could read each one as a standalone. It is all about a group of friends, the stories are all together, so why not! All six of the stories are short, sassy, clean romances and each and every heroine has a crisis of…let’s call it faith…in herself, in her life, or in her family. And the heroes, surprisingly enough, aren’t douche bags; I thought all of them were understanding, adorable, and good to the core. Just what these women needed.

I won’t go into details because the books are short and easy to read and the author wrote hilarious romances but I really did enjoy the bantering back and forth. Also, the men weren’t alpha jerks, just really strong and supportive of each of the six women. The women, when they get together, are just crazy chicks! Makes me want to get my friends together so that we can be a group of nutty friends, too. In book order, here’s what I loved: Ellen learns to trust…although it takes a while. She does have the help of puppies… Gina’s issue manifest itself in always going for the dare in Truth or Dare. Rachel hangs in there with the dates she has set up for her and I give her lots of credit for that. Kristen has much to relearn about trust, but she has to start with herself. I honestly had a bit of a hard time figuring out Melanie and her dating rules but it was a good story, sweet and funny. And Kaitlin – man, I will never look at a tall building the same way again in my life! I did enjoy this boxed set and recommend for a read to keep you amused and engaged.

All these are cute short stories filled with sweet romance. It is delightful to see characters frequently appearing in each of the stories making this a very cohesive and engaging collection as we watch the progress of previous relationships.

Love at First Date – Ellen decides she wants to know everything about the next person she dates, so she signs up for Detailed Dating, an online service, only to find love does not always follow the rules. When she takes her friend’s dog to obedience class, she meets Henry, an extremely sexy man she knows nothing about. This is a good start to the series, as we meet Ellen who had some bad luck with dating, she wants to meet the right person but he must fit her model and be ready to settle down. Henry is perfect for her but she continues to look for someone special not realizing he is right in front of her.

Truth of Date – Gina is finally ready to move on; she wasted enough time on George who has never wanted a commitment. Her friend Kristen and new roommate tries to set her up, but maybe her perfect man is right before her, a co-worker named Chris. This is a cute story and I like Chris, he dates many women only because he is looking for the right one, whom he suspects is Gina. When Gina is finally free he puts all his energy into pursuing her but she only looks at his history which seems jaded. They go through several miss-steps before they finally get together.

My Last Blind Date – Rachel is looking at spending Valentine’s Day alone, not by choice but because she is not dating anyone and so far her friend Ellen is not having any luck setting her up. When the new VP at the office finds out about her dating experiences, he finds a way to be her last blind date. I really liked this one, Noah is the sexy new guy, someone who Rachel would never think would look twice at her, but then he goes out of his way to make Valentine’s Day special and they click. So romantic.

Save the Date – Kristen is a Marriage and Family Counselor who doubts her ability to counsel as she did not see the signs when her fiancé cheated on her. Her confidence is gone so when others ask her questions, she gives negative advice, causing havoc for friends and family. When she reconnects with her friend Ethan, she does not trust her feelings. This is the only one I had problems with connecting to the heroine, Kristen is difficult to like and I wanted to throttle her a couple of times, but I really like Ethan and was cheering them on through the miscommunications and distrust. Kristen did redeem herself in the end and I enjoyed seeing her find her HEA with Ethan.

A Twist of a Date – Melanie is a fitness instructor at the local gym, she believes she has found the right man for the rest of her life and dismisses her flirty co-worker Matt. But when she talks about her feelings to Brad, he is out the door so fast and she is devastated. This one had a lot of drama in it, several other characters are featured and their lives are interwoven into this story, it is a good one to catch up on and also feeds into the next story and even though Matt and Mel’s story is cute and romantic it seems to get buried with the drama of others.

License to Date – After having broken off her wedding because of a cheating ex, she has sworn off dating. Her friends are not buying it and bribe her with home improvement help if she will go on five dates. She reluctantly agrees only to find the man she is attracted to is the sexy bartender who works at the place she frequents with her dates. This is my favorite in the series, the heroine is smart and funny and the hero is thoughtful, sexy and enigmatic. There is a bit of drama when she finds out who he really is but they get through it quickly and the ending works well.

Each romance is sweet with a few complications that are solved quickly, be aware that the sex is nonexistent as most stories end with the promise of more. The stories are short and well written with fun and engaging characters that reappear throughout the series, it is fun to see them again and see how their romance is advancing. All in all this is a recommended series for those that enjoy cute romances without the heat.

I received books 1-6 as an ARC, in exchange for an honest review.

Love at First Date

I really enjoyed this short story; a lot of info in a few pages. But it was well written, not rushed are crammed with the story line. It was really perfect. I adored Henry. I thought it was kinda comical her trying to find a match online and there was her match right in front of her. They will be perfect together. Ellen was a good character as well, fun, witty, smart, goofy, all in one.

Truth or Date

Another great book. I like the way it flowed from one book to the next one; like a continuation. As far Chris; who the hell wouldn’t want him, lol.
I think it was awesome that they ended up together; although she was starting to get on my nerves pushing him away. Haha
Another HEA, those are my favorite 

My Last Blind Date

Continuing on with the friends, from the beginning; another short, filling, book. It wasn’t rushed, but yet still had everything you wanted to know, all in a few pages. LOL
I like Rachel and Noah, glad that’s who was sitting at that table  They seem to be perfect for eachother. And as far as Mel, she needs to go somewhere with her “available to any and every guy” self!!!!
Let’s see where the story takes us know 

Save The Date

And the good books just keep on coming. I adored Ethan. And I liked Kristen, although I think she got on my nerves a hell of alot more than the other female characters did. My God, it was just craziness; for her to stop being so stupid and analyzing every single detail about every singe thing, lol.
I was really getting mad at her thinking how stupid she almost was, but she is lucky she had the great Ethan to be there. Cause that would have been a hell of a loss.

I also liked the way you hear about all the characters, from the previous books, like there life is just continuing on. Great books so far.

A Twist of Date

Of course, I will say it was as good as the others. Because it was.
Took a little longer for the actual hook up, and when it finally happened, THE END :(
Call me greedy but I wanted more of Matt and Mel. Especially Matt :)

The one thing that I thought was just crazy was signing Betty over. I was like WTH? I know she is desperate, but she has got to be out the box crazy!!!!
I would have NEVER done that, LOL

We are going through all the characters, shouldn't be many left, haha

I am also glad she made mends with her mom at the end. Life is to short for that.
Moving right along to the next book. :)

License to Date

The end of this book set although not the end of the series, was just as great as the rest of the books. Really enjoyed this box set, and I am very thankful for the ARC.

I enjoyed Paul very much. He was pretty much flawless. Although Kaitlin didn't appreciate the way he kept everything hidden, I thought it worked out perfect. Because of his fortune, most woman only see $$$$. SO I am sure deep down he had to make sure that wasn't the case this time. It was not, because she is truly genuine. She already has her priorities together, she doesn't need a man to do it for her. She just needed him. :)))))

McDreamy and McSteamy

This is a fabulous series! I read the stories individually and then discovered that they are all available in this one collection. It is well worth the price to buy these all in one set! It is a wonderful grouping of deliciously romantic, swoon-worthy stories. These ladies have all been given a second chance at love and a happily-ever-after. They are there for each other through thick and thin with strong friendships carrying them through the rough patches. I have included reviews of the last two stories here. The rest of my reviews are available on the pages of the individual books/stories. All of the stories are excellent. Every. Single. One. Love!

A Twist Of Date

Mel is in love. Again. This could be THE ONE. Again. Or not. Oh dear. Friends accuse Melanie of being in love with the idea of love. She's starting to believe that maybe they're right. A guy Mel works with wants to date her but he's a player and she really doesn't want her heart broken again. Determined not to let her make any more mistakes, her roommate instills some dating rules. She is going to become Mel's dating manager. If Mel breaks any of the rules, she loses ownership of her beloved car. Will Mel be able to make it through the challenge? Or will she fall back on her old ways once more? ... Find out for yourself!

License To Date

Kaitlin's fiancé was a tool. He dated both Kaitlin and her sister at the same time. Now she just wants to forget about men and focus on fixing up her house. Her friends think she needs to try the dating game again.
-“As a successful woman in your late twenties, you’re in your prime. You side-swiped being married to a two-timing cheat. You’ve earned a license to date. Take it, and drive.” Kristen used an annoyingly reasonable tone. “Go out with a guy. Or two. Or five. Try men on and see how they fit. Don’t think of it as stressful, more like window-shopping.”-
When her friends come up with a proposal: If Kaitlin agrees to 5 dates, they will help her paint her entire house. Hmm... Could that deal be worthwhile? Especially when a mysterious Prince Charming enters the picture? ...
This story was certainly well worth the read! It had some of the best kisses in the series, I'd say! Dreamy!

The Better Date than Never series is collection of cute romantic novelettes about six different yet similar friends and/or family members trying to find their one true love.

Love at First Date, Book #1 starts the series with Ellen trying to find “the one” though a dating service. She thinks she wants a mate that is compatible she thinks she isn't looking for love, boy is wrong.

Truth or Date, Book #2, is Chris and Gina's story. Gina has wasted years trying to get her live-in boy friend to commit. Finally recognizing that is never going to happen she ends their “relationship”. She is though with men or so she thinks. When first her friend Kristen and then office “playboy” Chris trick her into a game of Truth of Dare Gina realizes she is totally wrong and she finds men or at least on men worth the effort.

My Last Blind Date, Book #3 is very very short story about Rachel horrible luck with blind dating. She has had it no more blinds or so she thinks. It Valentine's Day and Rachel is dateless. Faced with staying home or taking one more chance she goes with the latter and and finds, oops I guess you will have to read this story to find out how it ends.

Save the Date, Book #4 is Kristen and Ethan's story about how two friends find their happy-ever-after.

A Twist of Date, Book #5 is about Melanie's totally wrong choices in men and how her best friend Patti, uses a really dire method to save her from herself. Patti gives Melanie a set of restricting boyfriend rules she must follow or forfeit her beloved car. If she follows the rules will she find true love?

License to Date, Book #6 is Kaitlin's story. When she finds out that fiancé is cheating on her she decides all wants to do is finish redecorating her house and have nothing more to do with men. Her friends make a deal with her, they will help her paint her house if she will agree to go on five dates. Kaitlin aggrees and schedules all five of date consecutively at the same bar. The dates are bust but the bartender is to die for.

Susan Hatler has written six adorable stories, each connected to each other through friendship and family. They are a pleasure to read and truly enjoyed doing so and I think you will too.

1 Love at First Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 1)A Woodward Systems Corporation Romance by Susan Hatler
5 stars
I purchased the short novella Love at First Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 1) by Susan Hatler and this review was given freely.
Engaging, fast paced and easy flowing with realistic characters, Ellen and Henry's story is one of the pitfalls of dating and validates taking a chance on attraction/love at first sight.

2 Truth or Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 2)A Woodward Systems Corporation Romance by Susan Hatler
5 stars
I purchased the short novella Truth or Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 2) by Susan Hatler and this review was given freely.
Gina's story is romantic, fast paced, captivating and thoroughly heartwarming. Spurred on by one of Ellen's bridesmaids, Gina finally moves out of the apartment she was sharing with long term boyfriend George and in with fellow bridesmaid Kristen. Unfortunately, Gina finally notices Chris just as he is leaving the company.

3 My Last Blind Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 3) A Woodward Systems Corporation Romance by Susan Hatler
4 stars
I purchased the short story My Last Blind Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 3) by Susan Hatler and this review was given freely.
Rachael's story is a wham bam first date to love short workplace romance with Noah that happens on Valentine's Day. Disappointing in its brevity. It is sweet and good but is over almost as soon as it is started.

4 Save the Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 4) by Susan Hatler
Not purchased.

5 A Twist of Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 5) by Susan Hatler
Not purchased.

6 License to Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 6)A Woodward Systems Corporation Romance by Susan Hatler
5 stars
I purchased the short novella License to Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 6) by Susan Hatler and this review was given freely.
Taking a break after her fiance's cheating, Kaitlin buys her first home and enters into a bet with her best friends which coincidentally places her in a bar whose "bartender" Paul has the same name as her ex. A Sweet, fast paced, attraction at first sight romance with humorous and a few twists but an obvious outcome.

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Love at First Sight:
Ellen is dead set on finding someone through online dating. She's intrigued by Henry and his catches her eye when he doesn't fill out a single question on the questionnaire. He is a quite man and he really has Ellen intrigued.

Truth or Date:
Gina loves to play truth or dare with herself and she never picks truth. When her dares lead her to the man in her life it could be true love. We also see the progression of Ellen's relationship.

My Last Blind Date:
This is the story of Noah and Rachel. She has met her match when it comes to Noah. Their story is really sweet and we are also introduced to Ethan.

Save the Date:
Between alot of miscommunications and misunderstandings Ethan and Kristen find a sweet love. Even as egos are bruised it's a sweet short love story. We also get glimpses of Ellen and Rachel's progressing relationships.

A Twist of Date:
This is the short story of Melanie and Matt. Melanie decides to let Patti make her decisions for and some of the rules are a little harsh, but it leads her to Matt. This one is hilarious.

License to Date:
Kaitlyn and Paul are hilarious, they are both quick with the wit. This one will definitely have you laughing out loud.

I thought each story was unique and very real. They are quick reads filled with love and great friendships. All of the women are strong and independent, the men are sweet and very loving. It's nit overrun with sex and angst. If you're in the mood cor sweet romance then this box set is just the book for you.

If you are in the mood for a quick read, guaranteed to give you a happily ever after, than this boxed set is for you! It was refreshing to read a set of books that were full of romance and were also clean enough that I would have no problem recommending them to a young adult. In fact, I have read young adult fiction that is racier. Often when you want to read a clean romance, you usually have to read inspirational romances, and some readers are not into that sort of read. So, hats off to Susan Hatler for delivering a great set of short novels.

I won't make this review lengthy by reviewing each of the books in the set. There are some great reviews already posted that do that. But I will say that, I enjoyed the characters in these books. They are all flawed enough as to make them believable, but they are also instilled with all of the warm fuzzier that avid readers of romance fiction expect from their happily ever afters.

One of the things that I enjoyed most about the set is the fact that the main character from each book appears as a secondary character in the other books so that you get a fuller glimpse into their lives. Now that I have finished all of the books, I may have to go back and re-read them to see what I missed. Even so, each book *could* be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend reading them in order.

As I said before, these books are a clean read and I would recommend them to anyone 14+.

I'm not normally a huge fan of box sets containing short stories, because I usually find myself reading only a few of the stories and tend to leave the others unread. However I didn't find myself doing that in the case of this box set and what I found was very funny, heartwarming series of short reads.

The series centres around a group of late twenty, early thirty something women, who it would seem all have serious issues in the relationship department, and as the title of the box set and each book suggests, they all embark on a journey of dating before finding 'The One'.

These are simple romance stories and not particularly drama filled. The sex scenes are mild, in fact they tend not to go beyond kissing, but as I've already mentioned, these stories are funny and if I'm honest it made a refreshing change to what I would normally read.

Because the stories are linked, you get to see how certain couples relationships have progressed so it was, for me, like reading one huge book.

I can't do this review without mentioning the last story because, in my opinion it was the best of the entire set and out of all of them, the only one that actually made me cry (in a good way)

I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a romantic comedy read.

I liked some stories better than others, but overall, I was so satisfied. Such fun, clean romantic stories! I enjoyed how each story focused on a different person and all of the characters are interconnected somehow. Some work together, some are friends, and some are friends of friends, yet they all have a common thread, binding them together.

I enjoyed how each story introduces a couple in a unique way--some meet on blind dates, at work, or other ways. I also love how each woman is strong in some areas and weak in others. Even the confident women need their friends and struggle with something. They're all human and so much fun to read about.

Each story can be read in a day and they don't have to be read in order, but it's fun to see how these characters grow and progress as the series moves along.

Content: all of these stories have mild romance and some mild innuendo (such as implied living together and intimate situations without details), but #5 has quite a lot of innuendo--nothing too inappropriate; no language, violence, or religious elements--just good clean fun. Clean!

I was in the mood for something light. Something that will make me feel good. A good romantic story, where there isn’t any real drama. Only romance and happily ever after. Dreamy guys and loveable girls who have an amazing friendship. And that’s exactly what I got when I read the Better Date than Never Box Set. 6 stories. 6 dolls who are looking for love and find it in the most unusual manner. Like a bar, puppy classes, work, a walking tour, and a gym.

I’ll be honest with you; my favorite book in this series was License to Date. I loved the fact that her friends had to bribe her into going on 5 dates.

This series was a fun read. Perfect for any day when you need a pick me up. I also like how all the stories intertwined. In my eyes, it made it one continuous story in my eyes. While each story is short, together they paint a great love story. Stronger together than on their own.

Great book to read if romance is your thing.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series!!
There are six stories in this Better Date than Never boxed set. They're fun, flirtatious & touching stories about girlfriends & tales of their ups & downs in dating & relationships. I love how Susan Hatler weaved the stories into the next one with the friendships of all the women in each one. They supported each other through their heartbreaks & happiness. It's reminds you that by taking a chance at dating, you never know when you'll meet Mr. Right.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!

This is for the boxed set of 1-6. There is another set with 3 stories. These stories are clean, no blushes for the readers. Each story has an ending, but the characters show up in some other story. You have Ellen using an online dating service for finding a compatible mate, Gina's guy of 10 years doesn't want to commit. Rachel's blind dates are disasters. Kristen is the other woman. Melanie's guy of 3 weeks is perfect for her. Kaitlin's guy was dating her and her stepsister at the same time.

Romantic and fun

This was a collection of sweet stories. The characters were all wonderful and each story put a smile on my face and kept it there. There was NO sex or anything close to it, which was a bummer, but if you are in need of an easy read with great characters and romance then these are the stories for you. They will leave you swooning and wanting more.

Definitely Chick Lit romance with GF's & their dating dilemmas each book featuring each in turn. At least those featured do come to grips with their shortfalls. It's almost as if the lat man standing has also been waiting for them too. This is romance not reality but fun reading anyway.

Nice stories. Good if you want something light to read.
Short stories that could have been a full novel, allowing for further character & plot development.
