Prophecies: Signs of the Times, Second Coming, Millenium

Rate this book

Prophecies of the signs of the times, the Second Coming, and the Millennium have been made available to Latter-day Saints in great abundance. They are to be found threaded throughout the scriptures of the Restoration and also in the inspired words of Church leaders. But they are not just to be given a passing thought or a cursory examination. The Lord Jesus Christ has admonished His disciples to be instructed more perfectly "in all things pertaining to the kingdom of God," which includes "things which must shortly come to pass" (D&C 88:77-79).

On the pages of this intriguing, insightful, and instructive book, readers will learn:

The nature of the council to be held at Adam-ondi-Ahman Parables of preparation for the Lord's return, final judgment, and reward The governmental structure that will hold sway during the Millennium Signs that are associated with the battle of Armageddon The purposes behind the scourging of the earth The identification of the 144,000 high priests on Mount Zion Scriptural patterns that help to clarify the meaning of several prophecies Mythology that is associated with the last days And much more . . .
Joseph Smith indicated that the Saints will "do well to discern the signs of the times as they pass along, that the day of the Lord may not 'overtake them as a thief in the night.'"

This is nice collection of scriptures and writings about the second coming, and etc. The strength of this book is how carefully he cites everything, so that you can check things yourself. Probably the best chapter is a Q&A where he takes common "myths" about what will happen prior to the second coming and traces the origins of the myths. Very helpful. I have read several books on this topic and some are very light on references and cite things as truth that are not accepted by the church. I think this book is a good counterpoint to those kinds of books.

I enjoyed this book, it actually had some new information and provided new insights into some items of common knowledge. It was provided in a reader friendly format and the index in the back lets you go back and double check on things easily. My book of full of yellow highlighter and that it a very good sign.

Re-read this book and I can't over emphasize how much important information is in the indexes. Great tool for teachers.

This book presents a really good summary of LDS and scriptural/Biblical prophecies of the pre-Second Coming, the Second Coming and Milennium, and what comes after. It is well documented with good quotations and a superb summary at the end of various LDS questions about these time periods and various rumors and questionable documents that have surfaced over the last 100 years. Good Sunday reading on fascinating (and scary) topics.

Another good 'second coming' book, especially the questions at the end. It dispels the myths and LDS folklore...Do all the inhabitants of the earth need to hear the gospel preached to them individually? What about the "second David" prophecy-how the name of the prophet at the time of the second coming will be David? Will we have to walk back to Missouri when he time comes?

I really liked how this book broke down every topic and was organized in a way that I thought was really easy to follow. It's nothing earth shatteringly new, but he uses a lot of early church quotes that I hadn't heard before. I really liked it.

I love everything Matthew Brown has written. Usually his "notes" sections are larger than his chapters. I especially liked The Gate of Heaven, Symbols in Stone and this book. Always a very good writer.

This is a good summary of what will happen before, during, and after the Millennium. It is well documented. I especially enjoyed the question-answer section at the end of the book. This is a good reference for anyone interested in the Second Coming.

Another great doctrinal book. New insights into the events that will lead up to the time of christ. The great part of this book is dispelling of many myths that people believe about the second coming. True to fashion he does not disappoint with references and how they may have been misinterpreted.

I liked the flow of this book and the information provided. I liked the author’s insights as well. However, this book just wasn’t my favorite. I just wasn’t as excited about this book. Still good though.

I listened to an audio version which I enjoyed even though the reader wasn't up to par with most audio books. Lots of interesting information with good source material.
