March 2017 - 2nd time reading this book and I loved it just as much! It's definitely one that I will be rereading over and over again! :)

June 2014 - Rachel can see it now. A sparkly ring on her left ring finger. She is this close to getting her happily ever after. This. Close. That is until her boyfriend Nico tells her that he's married. Married with kids. How did she not see this?! Without even thinking she punches him in the face and runs away. But Nico just won't let her leave the restaurant.

I liked this one. I enjoy books that are based around bakeries, restaurants or things like that. Makes for a fun setting. I thought the book started out strong, I was sucked in right away. I liked how Graydon and Rachel meet for the first time, gotta love the hero. I liked Rachel, she seemed like a genuine character and one you could easily like and relate to. I liked her relationship with her BFF, her family and Graydon. I liked Graydon, he is somewhat of a celebrity, being a retired pro hockey ...more
Sweet Confections lived up to it’s title as the story was sugary enough to give anyone a cavity. Rachel and Graydon were goody two shoes who had some cliché story book moments and unfortunately, came off as one dimensional for most of the story. The secondary characters were great companions and flushed out wonderfully to add more dimension to the story and I often found myself more interested in them.
Sweet Confections will work for individuals looking for a squeaky clean romance with mild

A delectable contemporary romance, “Sweet Confections” is the first of a series that should all be on the to-read list, if Ms. Ferguson continues to write this way.

Kindle freebie romance of the week!

Rachel Marconi dumps her Italian (<---- this will become significant) boyfriend who just confessed that he has a wife and family back in the old country. He doesn't want to leave her and gets kind of stalkerish, but she says tough beans, get lost forever (you go, girl!).

Just as Rachel is swearing off men completely, she meets Graydon, a pretty much perfect guy, and an ex-hockey star, for you sports romance fans. And who looks like Vin Diesel, only taller

Reading this book was a tasty treat! (I had to limit myself or I would have consumed it all at once!) Here are five of my favorite things about this book.

5. It's a clean romance with only a couple of minor swear words, yet it has the right amount of heart-melting, root-for-them moments.

4. Food Network references.

3. The chocolate lava tradition: a fun detail about the girls' tradition made even better with the husband's support. And Danyelle included the recipe--one I'm looking forward to trying

This was a fun, clean romance with a little mystery mixed in. Rachels spunky wit had me smiling from the very beginning, her insecurities and tendency to speak before she thought made her even more likable. Graydons love was solid from the beginning, I liked that their relationship wasn't rushed or crazy passionate from the get go and there weren't any of those sudden untrusting moments that seem to appear in so many stories. The mystery was a fun addition, as well as the yummy recipes in the ...more

Okay, so I'm a little partial to books about bakers, so Sweet Confections featuring a baker and former pro hockey player hit all the high notes for me. Great characters that made me laugh out loud and fall in love--as any good romance should. The suspense angle is a nice counterpoint to their Rachel and Graydon's growing relationship and I love how he just nudges himself into her life despite the fact that she's determine not to get involved in a romance again anytime soon without coming across ...more

This story sucked me in on so many fronts. First, the bakery, and then the mouthwateringly delicious goodies described throughout the book. And no, I'm not talking about the cupcakes or the eclairs. I'm talking Grayson Green, the famous ex-hockey player. Wowza! Just kidding. The yummy desserts really were giving me some sugar cravings the entire time.

I was immediately wrapped up in this story when it started out so explosively: Rachel Marconi discovers the shocking news that the man with whom

This was a "just for me read", in between review books. I've been eyeing it on Amazon for awhile and snagged it one day when the price happened to drop! :) This is a clean romance with a couple instances of mild swearing and profanity. The story kept me interested and engaged and I enjoyed the extra bit of light suspense, especially as it progressed toward the end. Fun, sweet, diverting. I'll be back for more by this author.

New favorite author!!

LOVED this book! Definitely found a new favorite author, if this book is anything to judge her by. I can't wait to read more!!!!!

Cute story, with romance and suspense. Enjoyed it.

Moral Note: Some innuendos, he grabs her bum while making out, no language that I remember, some social drinking, mild to heavy violence.

There's nothing like a great book to make a rainy, snowy Saturday perfect, and Danyelle Ferguson's "Sweet Confections" fit the bill wonderfully for me a few weeks ago, dishing up a sweet and clean romance with a mystery that fooled this super sleuth.

Here's the blurb from the back of the book:

According to Rachel Marconi chocolate heals all wounds. That and throwing darts at pictures of her ex-boyfriend. Burned by yet another bad relationship, Rachel decides to reprioritize her life, putting her

I love this kind of book! It's a cute romance mixed with one of my favorite things: baking and recipes! I also loved the mystery included!

Rachel is a great character. I love her spunk. When she realizes that the man she was dating had a family including a wife in another country she kicks him to the curb and won't listen to his lies about how she's the only one for him. But that all works out, because when she's on that very date she meets Graydon. I loved the way he took care of her when Nico

Sweet Confections was full of sweet surprises! This is Danyelle Ferguson's first published novel. She has published other non-fiction writing, but I was blown away by this novel. It had a great combination of romance, humor and suspense; also we can't forget the yummy things that main character, Rachel and her friend in the Sweet Confections Bakery made every day. I was hungry the whole time I was reading the book. Also, an added bonus is that Danyelle has recipes for some of the things Rachel ...more

Here's a romance to sweep you off your feet and right into Rachel's world and then Graydon's arms.

This is sassy classy writing at it's finest. The story grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go. Rachel and Kristen are exactly the kind of women you want to be friends with and hope you are like. Fun, feisty, independent, creative, smart, beautiful, caring. You get the idea. Lots of funny mix-ups as Rachel and Graydon meet. But don't get too comfortable as there is a suspense element to

Rachel Marconi designs cakes at the upscale bakery she co-owns with her best friend, Kristen. She thinks she has finally found love, too, until her boyfriend Nico breaks the news to her that he already has a wife and family in Italy. Thankfully he delivers the news at Brisket and Noodles, where she is saved by Graydon Green.

I really liked Graydon and Rachel... Graydon is a former pro hockey player and Rachel is nothing like any girl he has ever dated. She's a size 10 (so am I so I really liked

This cute romance features a bakery and baker and an ex-professional hockey player. The two come together under strange circumstances. I loved all the goodie references (and the end has some recipes to try), and how the romance develops between the two. I also really liked the mystery in this book, as bad things keep happening to the bakery and you don’t know who’s causing the trouble (you think you do, but aren’t quite sure). There are lots of twists and turns and it was a fun book to read. I ...more

While this book was sweet and fun most of the time, the storyline seemed a bit disjointed. There was little fluidity to the overall plot, a the characters had a few issues of inconsistency. The overarching romance was immediate and without conflict, but was based in a web of drama. It did get exciting eventually, but I would have liked more drama in the actual relationship as well. The side characters were well developed and made a nice cocoon to fill in the story. Overall a good read, but ...more

Fun characters and story together kept my interest throughout. A little suspense thrown into this romance and a couple of nice subplots make for a strong 4-star story. The bakery descriptions got me salivating. I really liked it and would recommend it to anyone seeking a clean romance.

This was a delightful, clean, quick, fun romance. I loved that it had romance and mystery. I am also partial to baking, so that didn't hurt my liking of this book. If I had to say one negative thing about it, it was a bit on the cheesy side in some parts. All in all, a very enjoyable read.
