While channeling Robin Hood's "steal from the rich and give to the poor" attitude at a local politician's house, ex-con Katie Logan witnesses a forced suicide. Dirty or not, supernatural or not, he didn't deserve to die, especially not by his own hand. But with her record, stepping forward as a witness isn't an option. On the run from the police and the murderer, she turns ...more

The opening scene in Tricia Skinner’s new ANGEL ASSASSIN series is as disturbing as it is good, in that oh my god I NEED to know more kind of way. Katie’s race to stay alive starts on page one, and doesn’t let up until the epilogue, and even then it’s clear that she’s still not entirely safe. ANGEL KIN is a near seamless blend of world-building, character development, and plot threads with its unique celestial mythology, cornucopia of supernaturals, and gripping story. Th

I think I’ve mentioned my love of all things angel at least once, so I won’t reiterate, but I will say that ANGEL KIN was a lovely addition to that bookshelf. The Nephilim ride again in this battle for good versus evil in an urban Detroit rife with supernatural creatures.

First things first, I loved the worldbuilding in ANGEL KIN, and what’s not to like. It’s a world uninterested in secrecy and lies and keeping the supernatural covered up. Shifters are on C

Angel Kin is a phenomenal re-launch of author Tricia Skinner’s remarkable writing style. I was worried when I heard the Angel Assassins series was going through transition (new publisher) – Angel Bait, the prequel, was a 2013 favorite of this reader. Angel Kin is the story of Cain, a Nephilim assassin, and Katie Logan, a not-so reformed thief.

Only The Bound Ones can protect Katie after she witnesses a supernatural murder. Unfortunately, one of the men assigned to protect her has the face of a k

I received an ARC copy of this book from the publisher for review through Net Galley

I liked this story quite a bit, there were a few points that I will make later that held me back from giving it a five star rating. I would call this an Urban Paranormal novel, with some romance thrown in because that isn’t the main focus of the story. It centers around angels and half angel decedents or Nephilim. There are plenty of other creatures or types of beings in this world, but them main story centers ar

An exciting new series with some bad ass angels!

ANGEL KIN weaves a paranormal world with angel mythology to create one of the most engrossing stories I’ve read in a while. I was instantly hooked and did not want to put this book down! With Angels, Nephilim and Renegade Angels in a battle, things quickly get exciting. I love a story of good vs. evil and Ms. Skinner delivers that and so much more in this series debut.

When the story begins, Katie L

Angel Kin is the first book in the Angel Assassins series by Tricia Skinner.

After I was offered this book for review I read the burb and wasn’t sure if to accept or not. The Cain and Abel name of the characters kind of worried me because I don’t enjoy books with heavy religious undercurrents, but when Mrs. Skinner replied: “My angels are not pious; they are SOBs.” I was sold, I knew I have to read this book and I’m glad I did.

Katie Logan promised her family she wouldn’t steal again, but with her

I absolutely LOVE this series and I absolutely hate the wait between books because I want to keep reading long after the last page. After the giant “wow” factor of the intro book of this series where I compared Skinner’s writing to that of JR Ward, I settled in for the wait to book two. Which took about a year. But no fear, the next book is due out in August. Fingers crossed that the date doesn’t change between now and then.

Witnessing a murder while trying to pull off a theft, Katie runs to the

This is my first experience with Tricia Skinner and I loved it! I am going to be reading the prequel Angel Bait and will be checking out the next book in the Angel Assassins series Angel Lover.

Angel Kin is a re-launch and a fabulous read! I enjoyed every minute, the characters are interesting and the world is remarkable. We get murder, action, suspense, sibling rivalry and romance to name a few things brought to us in this amazing first book.

Angels - but with a twist.

I love the concept. I love Cain and his crew. The storytelling is engaging from the first page. There are a host of characters which lends well for more books which is a good thing because we need more books!

Great debut! Looking forward to reading more.

This is the first book in this series, although there is a novella about one of the borhters. This book is about Cain.

Katie feels she has to help her friends in a difficult situation and tries to get money by stealing from a politician. while she is there, he is murdered!. As a burglar she can't go to the police and decides to get help somewhere else ... only, while recounting her tale, she discovers that a man who looks exactly like the murderer is part of the team.

I was hooked from the beginning. Katie, already on probation, breaks into a house to rob it, only to witness the gruesome murder of a crooked politician – now what? I love impossible choices, and they don’t get any better than that! But it did get better. She goes to The Bound Ones for help, but the new “bodyguard” assigned to her is none other than the (guy she thinks is the) murderer.

I don’t recall any quiet moments in this fast-paced story. But unlike other books that try to be fast-paced an

Angels... ☑ Hotties.... ☑ This book has it all. The epic battle between twin brothers Cain and Abel who happen to be half-angels is a perfect setup for the story. The book begins with Katie robbing a public officials home when she stumbles across a horrible murder scene. She quickly turns to the Bound Ones an organization of half-angels for protection. In walks Cain who is the man she saw kill the official or so she thinks until it becomes clear that Cain is innocent but his long lost, thought t ...more

Now, part of his soul had returned from oblivion.”

Angel Kin is the first book of Angel Assassins series, but I got a feeling that there was prequel from this book. And I'm right. So before Angel Kin, there was Angel Bait, but it from another publisher. I don't know the complete story, but my feeling when read the first part of Angel Kin is I'm overwhelmed with the world building. The story start with a gruesome detail, so a little warning if you want to read, do not eat while read this.

Katie cannot go to the cops because she has no way to explain how she managed to witness the murder without incriminating herself. For her own protection, Katie's brother sends her to the Bound for protection. The Bound are a group of assassin nephilim, who work to protect the innocent. Katie quickly f ...more

Whoa. The beginning of Angel Kin immediately drew me into this story. It was a great way to introduce our heroine, Katie, and the crux of the plot. I'm a sucker for angel stories, so I was drawn into this new world wondering what Heaven and Hell were up to.

Katie is the only girl in her firefighting family and a black sheep by her own admission. She got in trouble for having sticky fingers. But I quite enjoyed that Skinner made her a 'noble' thief. Katie was, after all, trying to get some loot t

When I first read the blurb for ANGEL KIN and saw half-angel assassin I was intrigued. Then I saw Cain and Abel and that intrigue continued to grow. Cain is a half-angel assassin??? Now I fully admit to not being any kind of biblical expert, but I do know the basics of that story…Cain was no angel…not even half…nope not at all! So just what exactly was this twist going to be? I haven't read very many paranormal romances that center on angels, God, or demons. The ones I have read are phenomenal. Angel Kin is one of those.

Katie's loyal to a fault, reverting to old habits to help out her friends. Though I don't condone stealing to solve her friends' problem, I do admire her willingness to put herself in jeopardy to help them out. It was just too bad she ended up witness to a murder in the house she decided to rob.

Cain's loyalty lies only with his adopted family. He will

I gave this book a 3 stars, though its more of a 2 1/2

Many, many other reviews went higher than this and influenced my trying this middle-of-the-road paranormal romance which has far too many of the now standard elements of the 'band of brothers' subgenre where we are introduced to X amount of heroes that work together and will each have their own books (this sub-genre may have started with J.R. Ward's BDB - or maybe she just did a really kick-butt job of exploring it). I'm not opposed to this s

One thing about paranormal genre there is alot out there to pick from when it comes to what realm or world to step into or be taken to by a author. On occasion I like to read something involving angels being the main focus which even though they are in novels not alot have them as the main body of them. So when I had the opportunity to do just that go for it I did. Kate is a woman who gets by with her wits even if helping out others mean lifting something that is not hers so be it. I wanted to read this book because I'm keen on angels, and this one promised to deliver twins. That's a hook for me!

First reviwed on Literaria http://http://sede-literaria.blogspot...

An exciting combination of action, paranormal creatures and politics, Angel Kin has been a great discovery.

Cain is harsh, don't-ffol-with-me kind of angel, a half-breed actually. It was a bit difficult to connect with him at a romantic level at the beginning for his abrupt behaviour towards Katie. Rest assured that
