Mixed feelings on this one. One one hand, Moates really did a good job of capturing the foundations of natural horsemanship (in particular the way practitioners of NH strive to focus on the human-horse relationship above all else). He talks a little bit about the history of NH, but he mainly focuses on his own personal experiences and the philosophies behind the Better Way. This is definitely more of a story than how-to type book. For me I had a hard time reading it because I felt like I was past a lot of what he talked about. However if I read it back before i got started or was just getting started I think it would have been easier.

I loved this book. Found it while browsing through the innumerable shelves in the library. I was immediately drawn by the cover. I am glad I read it. The author takes us through his journey with his own horses and natural horsemanship. There is one thing that I have taken from this book and applied to my own horse life: being my own farrier. A good introduction to the world of working with/training horses using natural horsemanship as an approach, if a little rambly at times.

This was an amazing read! As a beginner in the NH world, Tom Moates gives some really great insights and ideas into the wonderful world of natural communication with your horse. Full review to come!
