Five Stars from Harmony

I downloaded a free copy of this book of poetry from Amazon during a promotion, and am I glad I did. I haven’t sat and read poetry in a while, which is something I regret–even more so now I’ve read this.

The author, Queen of Spades, bares her heart and soul in this very honest compilation. The verse is moving and heartfelt, and incredibily succinct. This is not for the faint-hearted, as it doesn’t hold back: not on the content or the language … however, I feel the work is a

Much respect to Queen for letting me show some of my work in this book, first of all.

Even if Queen hadn't done that, this work took a lot of courage. I am not the type that even cries like that but some of these works in here ripped at my soul. Some made me flat out angry to the point where I wanted to tear off an appendage--in reference to a particular relationship that was unhealthy. It's hard to tell whether she's really talking about her or not (it's just how blurred the line is with this wo

I was lucky enough to read a blog post from the writer where she announced the 2nd edition release and free promotion of this book. Having read and appreciated another of her work, I downloaded my own copy.

As the title suggests, this short collection of poems is a recounting of one woman's very private pain. From child to adulthood, you become a witness to the devastating atrocities committed against her in heart wrenching detail. Crude and visceral, PRIVATE PAIN: AMIDST THESE ASHES will touch

Private Pain: Amidst These Ashes, is Queen of Spades at her most brutally honest. All the hurt and suffering she has gone through in her young life has given her much insight into human frailties, and she has poured her soul into the pages of this book. I was taken aback by some of the poetry, and can only hope that writing her life story down was a kind of catharsis for her.
A brilliant book and one that I would thoroughly recommend.

I would like to dare to venture into the depths of this magnificent collection of poetry.

I was blessed and lucky enough to be among one of the first people to read this collection. Allow me to tell you that this work touched my heart and soul in a way that not many poetry collections have in my life.

It seems to me that there are poetry books that one reads and moves on from, then there are those that stick with you for the remainder of your days. Each person in this world is independent from the

Wow! Just, wow! I was left flabbergasted by the intensity and depth of this poetry collection. A whirlwind of emotion jumped off of the pages and you can feel in every single word the extent of profoundness that the author portrayed.
Wonderful, wonderful poetry collection.

It is a brutal, honest read. Anyone under the illusion that things would not be laid so bare, so naked is going to be hit by a surprise of magnitude. The first feeling it evokes is one of sympathy – I am not sure if this is Queen's aim though – I doubt very much if she wants us to feel sorry for her. She is more inclined to share her experience for the sake of others and to exorcise her demons by the act of putting pen to paper.
The second feeling is one of anger, I wanted to take hold of all t

There are different components to the writing anatomy which creates Queen of Spades—part passion of a poet and part cadence of a storyteller.

Since the age of eleven, Queen of Spades’ blood flowed with the rush of ideas that dripped in a rhythm inundated with stanzas. She made her publishing debut as a presenter and a poet in the collective, Soulful Branches: Words and Sounds . Her other poetic wr
