I won this in giveaways!!
I think this work is very honest attempt and a decent debut for the author. The book is about connections. Connections between strangers, doppelgangers, mother and a daughter. The plot starts from a ICU ward, where wife is on the bed and husband is in melancholy. Interestingly, it also ends at the same spot. Where the wife dies and a similar looking girl falls in love with the husband in first sight. Ironically, the husband too. The plot takes a complex step by allowi ...more

The story kept hinting of having some connection with Mumbai, India. Even though there isn't a mention of it, some part of me was adamant that this had to do something with Mumbai. When I turned to the last page and read about the author, Arti Honrao, I said- 'Bingo!!'. So she is a Mumbaikar afterall.
Maybe it was just intuition or plain co-incidence that a Mumbaikar recognized another by her written work but then the story itself manages to create a framework through things like- a 'connect' bet ...more

I received the book in free giveaways. Thank you.
It could have been better. This book could not impress me because I don't believe in the things mentioned in it. I mean I can read about vampires, ghosts, doppelgangers, psychic abilities etc. but it was unbelievable in this book. Sneha-Smriti-Shreya connection was a bit too much to digest. Also, it is written in a narrative style like plain everyday story. Reader should be able to figure out most of the things on their own. She just has to work ...more

Book Review: Resemblance: The Journey of a Doppelganger by Arti Honrao
I have interviewed Arti Honrao in one of my earlier posts, and have also read and reviewed her book My Life Story. Arti has a unique style of writing, something very near to original and natural. Her writing takes you along for a deep dive inside an ocean but keeping your entity intact. In this book Resemblance: The Journey of a Doppelganger, Arti has tried to depict the difference of go ...more

The cover is interesting and so is the blurb. Story is unusual and when you start reading it, instantly, you will be drawn in the magic created by the author through her writing style. But soon the author loses her grip over the story which was at the hike in the beginning and you’ll feel that now the author is stretching the story too much. But there are some magical moments in between those boring pages which will never allow you to put this book down. Shreya is the character to watch. She is

So here's a story about beliefs of mankind. once i finished the book i realized how filmy the book was :) But that's good. Arti has written a book about love and faith but if you are wondering why i awarded only one star, it should be pointed towards the language and repetitive nature of text throughout the book. As i scurried through the chapters, I understood how the author has not taken pains to even modify some parts before presenting them again to the readers. i must thank Arti though for s

Ever since i began reading You and Me stories, i had been a fan of your work. You have never failed to mesmerise me with the spell you cast through the words. The same happened with Resemblance! Everything about the story spoke to me, one could easily visualize the seen unfolding in front of our eyes! To put it on a whole, this was a fine piece of art! Simple yet enthralling. The topic was somewhat more closer to me than it would be for others, but the magic would remain same. I really enjpyed r

Well, I read the book in two days flat, which is quite quick considering it is more than 400 pages long. But the downside is, I skipped a number of pages. The story is not bad, though I personally could not connect to the underlying concept. However, the writing style leaves a lot to be asked for and the book is badly in need of editing.

"What you feel deep within you is more important than what you think you feel...
Reaching that deep within place is not too difficult; you just need to cut off the chaos,
Go on a walk, spend some time with nature, listen to music, do something you really enjoy doing and not do it only because you have to...”
These lines by Arti herself perfectly sum up Arti’s writing and all that it stan
