Fabulous! This a true fairy tale in the old oral style. The illustrations are edgy and jittery as if drawn with colored lightening bolts. I love the rhythm of the language. If you are familiar with the Russian tales of Baba Yaga, or the tales in Andrew Lang's Fairy Book series, or American Tall tales you will love this as well. This story was a favorite of my boys and we read and reread it often. This book is such a missed gem. I recommend Crackling Brat to fans of classic fairy tales and oral tales. A+
