In the very same moment across the country on the border between Transylvania and Hungary a gypsy girl gives birth to another son, Andrei. The die is cast. The twin souls are born. Shane KP O’Neill is the writer of two upcoming series, Path To Decay and Flesh And Blood.

The Path To Decay series follows the lives of Vlad Dracul and his family and his fight to win the throne of his father in Wallachia, while becoming a pawn in the bitter struggle between the Holy Roman and Ottoman Empires for supremacy in the 15th Century Balkans. Written in a more literary style than contemporary, these novels of historical fiction and dark fantasy contain strong elements of love, betrayal, tragedy, war, religious conflict, and political intrigue to bring the period alive in its entirety.

In Flesh And Blood, O'Neill brings alive the Antediluvian world in a series of sprawling epics. A world inhabited by angels, demons, giants, dragons, and other creatures, it is the story of the divide in Heaven and the Great War of the Angels. This struggle manifests through the bloodlines of Cain, the son of Sammael, and Seth, the son of Adam. It follows the true story of the Hebrew line of Adam and their struggle to survive and make their way against the evil designs of Sammael and his Fallen minions. It tells the story of how the line of Cain dominated and ruled over humankind, culminating with the daughters of Cain cohabiting with the Watcher angels led by Azazel, the true Beast of Revelation, and the aftermath that ensued with their creation of the hybrid race of giants and the great Sumerian traditions. Novels of love, tragedy, betrayal, survival, death, blood drinking, Luciferian ritual, and encompassing the world's most ancient evil, they are an exposé of the many truths the religions of the modern age have striven so hard to keep hidden. This series draws on Scripture, the writings in the ancient Hebrew texts and the Sumerian Cuneiform tablets, the stories of Atlantis and Greek Mythology, as well as from recent archaeological discovery to piece together the real story of the ancient world and our true origins.

Away from writing, the author indulges his lifelong passion for history and theology as is reflected in his extensive library. His love of books is matched only by his love of the countryside and of course, his family. As an added note, he has lived and travelled all over the world, a pursuit that has allowed him to spend time in the locations his readers will become familiar with in his books.

In some ways, this body of work brings to mind The Historian by Kostova, because here too is an intelligent, compelling literary read, that goes far beyond the drips of blood and the ghoulish thrills, based on great attention to historical detail.

The Lamb of God presents a rich yarn, embroidered skillfully with threads of mystery, historical fiction, and vampire lore. Unlike The Historian, which suffers from long passages that read like a graduate school dissertation on the life of Dracula, the research here is well integrated with the story. Also, because the author has a complete vision of his dark universe, he divided the story from the start into a well-structured series of books, of which this book is a prequel.

The first chapter is a high level retelling of the story of Creation, which is the philosophical underlining, the concept holding together the entire series: the ultimate battle of good vs. evil. While Lucifer wanders the earth, his three bothers, consumed with jealousy of him, entice God to create Man, in His own image. This is the beginning of a bitter feud, in which Lucifer plans to win the battle for souls by turning man against God. The next chapters bring you in to witness the crucifixion of Christ, as if you were standing there, watching Mary collapse to her knees.

Five stars.

Vampires. Dracula. Good vs. evil.

3 familiar, ageless/timeless themes which hundreds of books have been written about over time.
So many books in fact, one could safely assume that certain similarities exist when picking up a book about any or all of these subjects...

That is, until one picks up any of "The Dracula Chronicles" series by Shane K.P. O'Neill. This series breaks the mold, lives outside of the box and blazes its own unique path through the vampire/Dracula genre. It's a total work of genius which has raised the standard in the industry.
Intelligent prose, mature storylines which include actual historical facts and figures, vivid descriptions in which the reader experiences the written word, not simply reads it.

"The Lamb of God" focuses on the very beginning - the war between God and satan for mankind, placing Vlad Dracul as a player in the drama. A very refreshing, unique angle in the Dracula legend.
I enjoyed this book tremendously and will definitely be reading the rest of the series. Highly recommend this series and author!

The theme of good versus evil has been done many times, some might say to death. However, author Shane O'Neill has made this a very interesting topic again, thanks to great writing, great storytelling and showing us how Dracula is part of this equation in the timeless struggle between Lucifer and God. A wonderful read that I would highly recommend. Very well done.

Methinketh this doth stinketh

I'm really perplexed by the number of 5 star reviews this has received,
so much so, I feel deceived. (Poetry unintended.)

This is really just a retelling of Genesis, followed by Christ's Passion from the point of view of Lucifer, and then establishing some link between this and Vlad Dracul's son. Nothing really imaginative I'm afraid. But I did laugh out loud when the author chose, for some weird reason, to have the inhabitants of Eden speak in some blend of Elizabethan/Shakespearean/King James Bible English. Huh?

Lucifer, in serpent guise, tempts Eve with this chic-winning opener... Does thy husband know wherefore thou art? I know not. It is as well. What dost thou mean? I dare sayeth not. Speak thy mind, serpent. LOL! And yet the narrative is in good ol' plain English. Some watered down version of the medieval language appears frequently throughout the story.

I understandeth not, for I say verily, 'tis not needed and confuseth the reader, and maketh the reading of the text difficulteth. I feel like I have a literary lisp.

Honestly - I think more thought went into writing We Got Zombies On The Lawn Again, Ma or even Taken by the Pterodactyl.

The curtain is raised for Shane K.P. O’Neill in this short but satisfying prequel to his DRACULA CHRONICLES novels. O’Neill establishes the relationship between God and Lucifer and puts a new spin on the Creation story. Fast-forwarding to the time of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, the moment of Lucifer’s greatest failure, he then sows the seeds for what will be the greatest battle ever fought, as the Evil One bides his time, down through the centuries, awaiting the birth of a certain infamous Transylvanian nobleman…

Duality, the ever-present theme in this series, is traced all the way back to the origins of life. Ironically, the schism between Heaven and Hell is created in large part to a lapse into jealousy by beings normally referred to as Good. Through a single selfish act, Good spawns Evil, its exact opposite, and brings with it the concept of balance, culminating in the simultaneous birth of two sons of Vlad Dracul. In a bizarre twist, the “good” son, Andrei, is conceived thru the rape of a gypsy by the tyrant, while the “evil” one, Vlad Dracula, is born consensually of Dracul’s own legitimate wife.

Replete with biblical references and far-reaching consequences, LAMB OF GOD marks Vlad Dracul as the man who unknowingly will ensure either the world’s salvation or its damnation.

Beginning with the story of Creation and the First Great War of the Angels; the Crucifixion; and then the birth of two sons to the great Vlad Dracul, The Lamb Of God introduces you to The Dracula Chronicles and the dark world of author, Shane KP O’Neill, where he will take you on a journey unlike any other you have travelled before.

The battle for souls has raged since the truce that followed the First Great War of the Angels. God has struck the ultimate blow and sacrifice to gain the advantage and defeat His fallen angel and estranged son, Lucifer. As Lucifer stands at the foot of the Cross that drains the last ounce of life from Christ and eradicates man’s sins, he realises that his work must begin anew. In time he comes to understand that his only chance to win the battle for souls will be to destroy the institution of the Catholic Church to turn man against God, once and for all. He searches for more than a millennium for the candidate to see his plan through to an end and finally discovers the one that can cast that final blow.

Praise to Shane KP O’Neill for another success in his outstanding series! This book takes us through the origins of the heavenly battle and the childhoods of Vlad and Andrei, our two heroes destined to fight over the fate of all humanity!

O’Neill creates a rich texture of history and magic, and yet amidst this epic battle between the forces of good and evil, there are no black and white lines here. Because whilst Heaven and Hell rage in battle, O’Neill weaves a subtle, but brilliant human tale, about people who love and lust, the pawns of terrible heavenly game. Every character is tangible, from Dracul who goes from being detestably ruthless to charmingly kind, to the young Vlad, destined to do great evil, and yet nothing but an innocent child.

Emotive and exquisite, this book brings a 2000 year old story to life and transports you through the ages, from the dawn of time to the Crucifixion, to the attack of the Ottoman empire. Once you start, you are not going to want to put it down.

“The Lamb of God” by Shane KP O’Neill tells the story of Dracula from the beginning, literally, the creation of the world. Telling the story of the biblical genesis but with slight alterations this is instantly captivating and fascinating. The story of Christ and finally the 15th century history and family genealogy Vlad Dracul are portrayed in one dramatic history lecture that leads up to the birth of Dracula.
As fan of history I hugely enjoyed this re-telling of the biblical gospel and O’Neill’s take on the Dracula story. Clearly familiar with the historical facts and the times he paints a great picture of how one would have to imagine the story. Written with an authoritative voice and in appropriate prose the short novel shows a creative idea executed with expertise and skill. A great accomplishment.

I read this and listened to the audio version. I found the Crucifixion very powerful. I have heard this story a thousand times, but this was different. I felt that I was there, feeling the pain very deeply. I was fascinated with the story of the birth of the boys and wonder what will happen to Andrei and Vlad. It was a real irony that Andrei's birth resulted from something so terrible, and the bad son, Vlad, was created by love. I guess I will have to read the books to get the answer. I enjoyed seeing Lucifer lose when Jesus wiped away man's sins. He is clearly a real power, and it would not be good if he was to win the battle for souls.

This sneak peek into what looks to be an amazing series is going to have readers eagerly waiting for me. Beginning before the creation of man, readers are taken into the lives of angels and archangels. Following Lucifer from the beginning of man to when Jesus gives his life to save them, Someone always is there and the authors gives readers an insight into what an archangel might feel like when men are given more than he, who should be The Father's favorite. There is much more going on in this short tale but eventually the story is going to take readers into a different realm of blood thirsty suspense

A Devilish Agenda...

This is a fairly smooth and quick read. While there were a few typos, they were easily forgiven due to a very smooth and compelling narrative style. Lucifer is the morning star and a favored son of God. This short story spans millennia of the creation through the great flood to the crucifixion. While we have heard these tales before, the adversary's point of view brings us a very different flavor to those tales and the events that bring us Lucifers plan to fight back against Heavenly plans to save man. Well worth the read!

WOW....
This short introduction to the chronicles are so descriptive it makes you feel like you are at Christ's crucifixion, and are actually there for the birth of Vlad himself. I was overwhelmed by how far I was drawn into this, scene by scene. It was like watching a movie in my head, and that is something very few authors have managed to achieve for me. Shane O'Neill has out-done himself with a spectacular beginning....my fangs are out, ready for the next bite of historical fantasy!!!

This prequel to The Dracula Chronicles literally goes back to the beginning, with roots in Creation, the Fall and other biblical elements, weaving a tapestry to support O'Neill's vision of vampires and their origins. This battle of good vs evil is very well written, with enough description to bring each scene to life. A feat that is not always easy in a short story. O'Neill's prose is emotional and evocative. I look forward to the rest of this series.

Highly recommend!

As the product of a full blown Catholic upbringing myself I can sympathise with the author; although I sense I had the better of it. My young world was very different; I was allowed TV, lots of books I choose for myself and encouraged by my nuns at school, educating young ladies meant to converse with the world, I could discuss, argue and learn about other religions and without hate. No hate; imagine that. No hate; make your own mind up girls. I didn't much like the God it portrayed but the movement of Christianity was fine with me, its basics worth following and it's stayed I am glad to say. My ideas of God have moved on many, many millennia from the start of the present 3 monotheistic religions, wherever and whenever that was and it cannot be searched for in the written word alone for that is too recent and too corrupted.
This prequel of a vampire series sets out the old bible stories pretty much as they are in the present day bible with those re-added books (taken out when they didn't suit). In a way I wish he'd gone back to the original older angels, real creatures of myth almost unformed, but I suppose we all start where we feel comfortable. As a woman I still find the Adam and Eve fable highly offensive, but that is not the author's fault, it is the way of it at present, hopefully one day before we are gone we might find forgiveness between the sexes, but some men are full of fear. I can see where he is going with this and I am sure the Vampire books will be as well-written and well researched as the prequel.

These days I am not normally one for heavily religious based books, despite the fact that in the past I have dedicated much time into studying various religions and myths, but the idea of a book told from Lucifer's perspective piqued my interest and I am so glad I picked it up.
Within is creation from the dawn on time, proceeding forward, from this fresh unique perspective the author fills in many of the gaps I always felt passed over with some very interesting, insightful, and imaginative ideas.
By going into too any details I feel I could detract from the reader's experience, but I will say this, the ending of this book gives a slight insight into what is to come as the series continues, and quite honestly I am looking forward to seeing how it develops. Here you have the ultimate battle of good vs evil, and although some of the stories may seem familiar, the manner in which they have been told is anything but the norm.
I have already gifted a copy of this work to a friend who I think will find it as fresh and unique as I have.
The book can easily be read in a single sitting if you have an hour or so to spare, and trust me, you'll want to keep turning those pages.

A wonderful account that spans prior to the creation of man through the crusades, as told from the point of view of Lucifer. It is such an interesting look at the fall of some of the angels.

I loved the way the storytelling style slid through my mind like silk. The best parts were experienced by watching Lucifer go from golden-boy to demon and being able to fully understand how that could happen through jealousy, hubris and misunderstanding. It all becomes a game and humans are the pawns.

This novella sets the rest of the series up perfectly and has made me a fan of the author. A marvelous twist on mythology and a promise of more to come. A definite must-read!

A well written story, cleverly combining history, religion and imagination. I read it in one go and felt as though I was actually there witnessing the events. I love the way this story is written and can't wait to read more of this authors work. I particularly enjoyed the introduction of Satan at the crucifixion and felt the anguish of Mary as she watched helplessly. Fantastic, definitely left me hungry for more.

I came across this book on my Twitter feed and something caught my eye. I don't quite know what I expected but it certainly wasn't this, and I mean this in a good way. This is an awesome concept and I can't wait to get my teeth into the full series. Told in a creation story style the author weaves together his own creation legend based on many legends and creation stories. I read it in one sitting as the writing compelled me to read on. Superbly written and deftly told.

A MUST READ
Being a fan of the subject matter, I found this to be a unique and intriguing slant on the story of creation, and the struggle between God and the devil. Mr. O’Neill utilizes the bible as a basis to spin this riveting story of conflict and blood.
A well-written and engaging read, easily applied to the horrific events happening in our world today. I highly recommend this book, and anxiously await the next in the series.

Dance with the Devil

An amazing account that takes us from the creation of man through the crusades from the point of view of Lucifer. I loved the way the words flowed like silk through my head. Seeing Lucifer go from beloved angel to reviled creature was interesting and felt as if it could've really happened that way.

This is a masterful tale told by a talented writer. I will definitely buy the rest of the series. Highly recommended!
