A sex slave who’s never been touched… National bestselling author Lisa Cach spins an erotic, passionate novel about a young Roman Empire slave who’s intended to become her king’s concubine—until a rugged barbarian prince takes her heart…and more.

Lovely Nimia is a slave to King Sygarius, who’s grooming her to be his consort as soon as she reaches full womanhood. And that time is very close. Nimia is forced to attend shocking lessons in the erotic arts; lessons that leave her body aroused and her mind conflicted. Because while she’s attracted to Sygarius’s power and eroticism, her spirit rebels at being his slave.

Then one of Sygarius’s allies comes to visit. Smart and ambitious, Clovis burns to take over Sygarius’s kingdom—and the beautiful Nimia. And though her virginity is meant for Sygarius, Clovis takes it with her enthusiastic consent.

When Sygarius learns that she is no longer a virgin, Nimia flees for her life. But can she find Clovis before the wrath of Sygarius—and imminent death—finds her first?

Please read warnings (there are mature and possible triggers for some)

Page 83/182:

"If I set you free, would you come to me?”
“That’s the whole point of freedom: you could never be perfectly sure I would.”

Page 131/182:

There's this moment with slimy chicken as a blood that I find freaking hilarious, gross, and quite clever! *cue laughs*

Also I think my favorite character (so far) is Terix. He's honest (well has moments), a great friend (more moments), and hilarious (yes. A natural joker)!

This is a short story filled with sex, a lust triangle, and politics mixed with magic.

The writing was wonderful 95% of the time. Kept my attention and I was intrigued on what would happen. Though for roughly 5%, it, and the main character, seemed a little...different? Strange? Clunky...naive? Just different from the rest of the structure, so that was momentarily strange, but that was easily overcome.

AHHH! Maybe it was the word cu**y that the book had whenever a woman's genitalia was described. That was one of the ehhh-could-have-lived-without parts.

The sex wasn't for me, but the magic intertwined with the political intrigue was! I enjoy a good power play (hahaha, no, I'm not kidding).

Overall, this was a good read to say in the least.

A girl who seems to have lost herself, becoming more of who others wish her to be, a man bent on control, of the girl and an empire, and another man who seems to know answers that he uses to keep both the readers and the main character at bay, but close to him, to the story.

Fascinating!

Nimia was taken by Sygarius as a war prize when she was a young girl. Treasured by her captor, she has avoided manual labor and anything that would mar her beauty. Why, you ask? Do you really have to ask? No? Well, let me tell you anyway.

Sygarius, even though he’s married and has a bevy of beauties at his beck and call (he is a roman warlord, after all), has been biding his time, waiting on the day Nimia comes of age so he can deflower her and make her his concubine. His wife is perfectly fine with this because she’s a lech too. Now that Nimia is oh-so-close to womanhood, she’s been inundated with live displays of every possible sex act imaginable and this has left her feeling a little funny in her nether regions and worried but eager for her initiation. But (oh you knew there was a BUT, right?) a young, handsome visiting barbarian prince captures her eye and sets fire to those nether regions. A fire that just may spark a war (I know, I'm groaning at my tired cliché here too. Why, again, aren’t those blurb writers calling me?!)

“This man, something within me said. This man will take my soul. I could feel coils of fate wrapping around me, squeezing the breath from my body. My heart raced, a cold sweat breaking out over my skin. Gods, what’s happening? Who is he?”

Better than this getting ya, I suppose.

This book exists to set up a series. It’s only 70 pages or so long so I didn’t go into it expecting anything too emotionally involving or complete and thusly I was not left feeling too disappointed at the lack of relationship development or closure. This book is about the sexy bits and, I have to admit, the sexy bits are pretty good. Lisa Cach is a good writer. I’ve read a few of her books in the past and even gave one of them five stars because it managed to make me laugh a lot ( George and the Virgin ). But this one isn’t funny so it’s only getting a 3 ½ (rounding up to 4).

Nimia is a very young heroine and her loyalties are torn. She has a lot of growing up to do and she needs to stop being so easily swayed by whatever arrogant hot man is nearest. That bugged me a bit, well that and the fact that she risks her own life in order to have some hot sex with Mr. Sexy Barbarian but she does show an inkling of backbone so I hold out a big glimmer of hope that the sequels improve.

If you’re looking for heart eyes and romance you won't find it here. The relationships are purely lustful. Not that there's anything wrong with that and I will seek out the next installment. But, but, but, but I do hope the author does the right thing and finds a new favorite word for the feminine bits other than cunny. Anything will do, really. That word just grated on my last nerve. With that said, I will leave you with my little ode to Nimia’s irresistible and insatiable little cunny and hope this will be the final time you ever have to stumble across the word unawares.

Cunny like honey.
Morning dew on rosebud waits.
Touch sets Rome aflame.

Slave Girl (1,001 Erotic Nights #1) by Lisa Cach
D-, inferno, mild kink, fantasy, 90 pages

Nimia has been Sygarius's slave for 9 years now. No one is allowed to touch her and she's not allowed to do any hard labor. Sygarius, a Roman leader, is training her to become his concubine when she becomes a woman. And that time is drawing closer. Nimia is looking forward to the time she will finally be able to use all of her training, until she spots Clovis. Clovis is the son of the king of Franks and has come to Sygarius's along with his father for discussions. When he spots Nimia, they are drawn to one another. But she is Sygarius's alone, or is she?

The writing in this one keeps you turning the pages. There are politics aplenty that keep you guessing what comes next. Being told only from Nimia's point of view, the reader is kept clueless as the events unfold. We are left wondering at the true intentions of Sygarius and Clovis.

Sygarius's obsession with Nimia is borderline disturbing. Borderline, simply because she is his slave and in this world that appears to be acceptable. And the fact that he is saving her for himself almost makes him her savior. Clovis is instantly drawn to her, yet approaches her without regard to the effects it may have on her life in Sygarius's household.

As for romance in this one, I'm going to say that there's not really any. There are relationships with both Sygarius and Clovis, although there appears to be no feelings from either (other than possession). Nimia herself doesn't really seem to have feelings for either of them. Fair warning: this one is filled with swords, branches, and rods. As well as flowers, petals, scabbards, and cunny (gak-that's my least favorite ever). So although it is extremely descriptive, I found myself chuckling at times.

Sadly, this one didn't work for me on many levels. Maybe it was all the "cunny" references. Or perhaps her initiation rite. Yep. Probably the initiation is when I decided I was done. It is the first one of a serial so perhaps there is hope. If you like your heroine with multiple partners and like politics, this one might be worth a shot, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a more standard boy-meets-girl-and-instantly-falls-in-love romance.

The setting of the book hit me right in the sweet spot and add kinky sex to the mix and I’m done. I couldn’t help myself. Lucky me the publisher approved me for it through NetGalley and I set myself to reading. Oh my . . .

Cach did her homework with the setting and painted an amazing picture of the world that Nimia was living in. It came alive in my head with very little effort and on the other side I never felt smothered by the research either. Cach struck a good balance between too little and too much exposition. And her writing is just wonderful. I didn’t feel like I was reading just a story that’s hardly more than porn-without-plot in order to get to the sexy parts. There’s a vivid tale going on here. There’s real depth of character and growth, they have histories and futures and the story is about more than just sex (although that’s still a really big part of it).

And the sex. Holy wow. Freakin’ hot. Like major hot. She used a good balance of slang and not to get through the scenes, they never went hustler-level deep where it would have doubled as an anatomy lesson and you learn things that the body can do that are actually detrimental to the sexiness of the scene. Not to mention Cach was incredibly creative with her sex. No two scenes were too similar, many elicited different feelings in the characters and quite a few toed the line of required slave/willing participant. It’s built up that Nimia has basically been brainwashed from a young age to want all of this. So where is the consent? There are a few more difficult scenes that do disturb Nimia and equally made me want to punch Sygarius in the neck but as the reader you’re in Nimia’s head the whole time. You know what she’s thinking and what she feels about what’s going on. There isn’t any rape fantasy in here. Let me make that clear. But Cach isn’t shy about making the Romans Romans with their slaves and making certain situations uncomfortable. But I think she plays the balance well and keeps Nimia aware of the difference between right and wrong. She’s not a blind girl, Nimia.
Terix is a great character, too, and I hope he plays more of a page-present role in Part 2. He’s sort of the comic relief in this book at the moment and turns up to help save his best friend when the poo really starts hitting the fan but for the most part he’s off-stage. He’s a great, honest character that wasn’t around Part 1 enough.

There were a couple of lines that Cach used that were jarring. And I do mean only a couple. Like comparing someone’s puckered lips to an anus. While the comparison is meant to be insulting that’s still a rather brash comparison and it’s obviously stuck with me. Funny, yes, but it really thrusts you out of the story. The other one, actually wasn’t in Part 1 but in the preview for Part 2 where Nimia is about to give head to a guy and takes a whiff of his exposed self and thinks he smells like male sweat and funk. Okay, gross. They’re just rather inappropriate and ill-timed comparisons that really separate the reader from the story, I think.

But that would be my only complaint, really. Oh, and the cover. Not the fault of the author but it doesn’t accurately portray Nimia. She’s never in chains and she’s supposed to be covered in tattoos. I do wish it were more book accurate. But other than that t loved this book. I loved the story, the characters, the sex. All of it. There is nothing not to like here and I can’t wait until I get my hands on Part 2.

Flawlessly written, with striking imagery and evoking intense emotions. Blindingly sensual, Slave Girl is certainly not smut, but erotica with a thrilling plot. This story of a slave girl battling her inner wants and needs, takes us on a journey back in time, to a world long past were Romans ruled, humans were treated as chattel, and orgies were as common as a rave.

It has sometimes been assumed that "unlimited sexual license" was characteristic of ancient Rome and this scorchingly hot read certainly put my eReader ablaze, but ultimately left me hollow due to the lack of deep emotions other than lust and no real connection or attachments.
“A recognition of what we were: slaves who could be used at the will of their master.”

Nimia deep down feels she was born free and shouldn’t be servant to anyone and longs for that privilege. But at the same time knows that alone, without knowing where she came from and not having anyone else other than her ruler and master she would not survive. So when opportunity presents itself in the form of young, cunning Clovis she naively seizes it. Will she find what she seeks or will she find herself running for her life?
“I was a woman with my own mind, my own heart, my own body and needs I was not a farm animal, to be told when to breed. I was not a dog, to be collared. I was not, in the center of my being, a slave.”

She has a strong, fierce spirit. But lives in a world ruled by men. The sneak peak at the end gives us an idea of what awaits her in this erotic adventure.

Nimia is a young slave girl being trained as a concubine for her master, Sygarius. He has owned her for years but has been waiting to use her until she was of the perfect age; after all, the anticipation is half the fun.

I enjoyed Nimia's character. She knows she belongs to Sygarius and what he will use her for once she is of age, but she does not mind much; after all, that's really all she has ever known. She does not remember much of her life before she came to live in his household. However, she is smart enough to realize there could be more to her life out there somewhere in the world and strong-willed enough to dream of it. Then one day a young prince shows up who claims to know of her people, and Nimia has to make a decision…live the safe life as a slave and concubine, or be free to find her past as a fugitive on the run.

I do not know much about the Roman Empire or the language of the time the book is set it, but to my uncultured mind, the writing in this book seemed to fit. The story flowed smoothly with beautiful imagery, and the plot was intriguing enough to leave me wanting more. This is the first installment of the story, and I will be looking for part two, hopefully soon!

Overall, Slave girl was OK.
I'm sorry because I hate saying that about a book. To me, "OK" just means that it had its ups and it had its downs and I'm not better or worse for reading it.
I enjoyed the story - it seemed to be a bit original for the erotica genre and it reminded me a bit of the Sleeping Beauty trilogy by A.N. Roquelaure Sleeping Beauty Box Set by A.N. Roquelaure .
I felt as if the story felt a bit rushed -

Try it out if you get the chance - it's a quick read and it has some sexy times.

I got this book because I love two things featured in it: sex and Rome. I'm a Classics minor, and I have an obsession with things that are in any way Greek or Roman in nature. Plus an erotica on top of it? Sign me up. Unfortunately, I didn't like this nearly as much as I wanted to.

That beings said, it did have some high points going for it in some aspects. I really, really like the concept of this book. A man has been training his slave for years, getting her ready so that he can take her virginity. Only, she gives it to someone else against his orders, someone not even of the same side in politics. I really liked the world Cach created as well. The outfits were well described, as were the people and the places around them. It was really easy to place yourself in the story.

But then things got a bit worse.

This is partially to do with me. If the anatomical words in an erotica don't make it a steamier story, than it is hard for me to get into it. Such was the case with Slave Girl. The fact that the girl's nether-regions (I am purposely being clean here, folks) were referred to as a "cunny" just really rubbed me wrong. It made it hard for me not to laugh, which effectively killed the sexual vibe the author wanted. Sexual, but not romantic. Granted, this is a novella serial, so feelings may develop later, but if you're looking for immediate romance with your sex, this isn't the read for you.

I was also kind of off put by the melding of Greek and Roman. While I know that their myths are interchangable (simply speaking of course) and that the two cultures influenced each other, hearing both Greek and Roman myths/names just kind of took me a back a bit and made me go "Wait..."

I was bored for the first half of this book, but I pushed on. My love of Rome made me do it. But then, about halfway in, too much started to happen at once. It got really sexual and political and conniving out of nowhere, and it became rushed and a bit hard to follow.

I mentioned that the word "cunny" killed my sexy feelings towards this book. Well, that was furthered later on in the book. I don't want to give too many spoilers on details, but she has a trick to restore her "bits" so that she feels like a virgin again, and it involves animal organs and blood. I like my sex without that in it, please. I get that it's probably historically accurate, but that does not make it not kill the mood.

While this novella did have some good parts, I couldn't get past some of my issues. Some of them may be solved in the next installment, but I won't be reading on to find out. This is an erotica, so it does of course contain sex. If word choice isn't an issue for you, maybe you'll like it better than I did. Thanks to Netgalley and Pocket Star for my copy in exchange for my honest review.

1001 Erotic Nights is a read that presents readers with quite the quandary for a rather large number of reasons.
While it is quite apparent from the outset that Nimia's status as a slave leaves her subject to the whims and folly of her master, King Sygarius.
A great number of her master's wishes concerning her go unheeded for much of the read.
Case in point: The No Touching Rule
King Sygarius has decreed that no one is to touch Nimia except him, but we are not out of the first chapter before she is being fondled by none other than the king's wife.
Said fondling is apparently just the start down the slippery slope to unsanctioned "deflowerment" for an all too eager Nimia.
It is, in fact Nimia herself who thumbs her nose at the "no touching" rule in the most flagrant sense; when she gives herself to the young barbarian prince, Clovis, just days before she is to be bedded by her king.
But one cannot hold her entirely responsible for her lapse given the fact that she had been ordered to "get close to Clovis' father in the hopes that she might glean information that would prove useful to King Sygarius during negotiations.
Confused yet?
Don't worry, it gets worse.
Not only do we find Nimia embroiled in the beginnings of an espionage type situation; there is also the search for her lost heritage to deal with.
This story is one of those that starts off as a very directed novella and quickly morphs into the unfinished beginnings of a much larger saga.
This turn of events direction-wise wouldn't be such a shock to the system if it did not mean a complete abandonment of the erotic side of things.
Given the fact that this is the first book in a serial novella; one would expect there to he more care given to character introduction, and repartee building, than the incessant hopping from plot element to plot element that we witness here.
Before you throw in the towel on this read however, remember that this is only the first installment, and therefore leaves much room for growth, focus, and improvement.

Slave Girl is the first part in a series. It's only 90 pages and should be read quickly but it took me a while for me to finish it. I was a little bored around 30% and at the middle of the book because the story was dragging a bit. I was losing interest but the story picked up after that.

The main character is a young slave named Nimia. She's owned by Sygarius, her master for nine years. She has been trained and raised knowing that someday when she'll be ready, Sygarius will be the first man touching her. The only things she wants is to be free and to find her family again, but she would be risking safety and her own life by trying to escape or be with another man.

Clovis is a young and arrogant prince who charmed Nimia into having sex. Nimia is a little naive and happens what was supposed to happens... Things don't go smoothly afterward and she has to find a way out before Sygarius learns her betrayal.

I am having a hard time to know what to think of the different characters. Terix is probably the only character I liked, he was really sweet and nice. He's always here to help her and considere her as family. I was really disappointed by Clovis and a little irritated by him.

Overall, it was okay even if I wasn't hooked. I've never read a book with a similar story.

I don't typical read a lot of historical romances, but this one caught my eye because the concept of concubine and sexual slave to royalty is intriguing to me.

I can only imagine the sexual tension and frustration that she must feel after so many years of her body not even belonging to herself in preparation for giving her virginity and body to her ruler. She isn't even aloud to touch her own "cunny"!

So is it such a shock that when a sexy prince shows up that she is consumed with lust? Add in her supernatural ability to have visions of the future and you are left with an action packed story. Her best friend is funny and loyal and I loved his part in her story.

The ceremonies revolving around the loss of her virginity are pretty intense, yet sexy as sin.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. It is a quick read at only 90 pages, but the preview for the next book looks promising and I will definitely keep it on my to-read and coming-soon shelves.

Just when I got into the story, it ended. When I first started I was not sure what the story was about. It initially felt like just an erotica with no real plot, but I don’t think I got “the plot” until almost the end. I think it is because it took me that long to get used to the writing/verbiage.
Nimia is a young slave girl being trained as a concubine for her master, Sygarius. Nimia is a virgin who is saved until she is of the proper age for Sygarius. Nimia does not remember much of her life before she became a slave, she knows there is more out there. Then one day a prince arrives who claims to know Nimia’s people and Nimia has to make a decision. Stay in her safe haven as a slave or take a risk and leave where she does not know what dangers are behind the wall. The synopsis sounds simple, but reading it was anything but and that is why I think I had a hard time enjoying it.
It is a short read, an intro to the series. I was hoping for something else when I started reading this so was a little disappointed.

I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't awful. It had a plot and interesting characters. The author did some research on the period, and it showed. I don't know if I will finish the series.

The first thing I want to bring to notice is that the sex was not appreciated. In fact, it kind of creeped me out. I'm not a huge fan of sex in books in the first place, and this novella had some really...weird scenes. I think the author was trying to make the sex seem really intense, but most of the time I was just disgusted, and kind of shocked. The descriptions were irregular, and the wording and sexual innuendos the slaves used were unpleasant. I can understand why it was done though, to help make the different time period more prominent. Still, throughout the book, I tried to skim through the sex as quickly as possible; sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Though this book is erotica, I'm not sure if all erotica fans will like the book.

The main character wasn't the worse, but I definitely had a problem with her. She was a slave who hadn't always been a slave. Nimia was a spoil of war, and was separated from her mother during the same war. She doesn't know what became of her mother, and who her father was. The thing I liked about Nimia was even though disobeying her master would mean death, she still does everything in her power to chases whatever clues she can to find her family. I also kind of loved the fact that she was a seer; it made things much more interesting, and that's probably the only reason I continued reading the novella. What I didn't like about Nimia was that even though she was a slave girl who was forbidden to be touched until her initiation, she actually looked forward to her sex-filled initiation. Sure, I'm sure a young girl would be curious, but the way she thought about it...it didn't really allow me to like her. I'd think she should be more worried about escaping the palace instead of wanting to stay there. Nimia did say she wanted freedom several times throughout the novel, but I recall more times that she said she wanted to have sex with either her master or Clovis, the Barbarian Prince.

Nimia's master was king of the palace, so of course I didn't want Nimia to desire to be his slave, but I didn't despise Nimia for seeing something in Clovis. He seemed mysterious, and according to Nimia, he was very handsome. And even better, he apparently met Nimia's father before. What I'm trying to say is he started out as a great character. Then, as the novella went on, I started disliking him more and more. He was bossy, untrusting, and I came to the conclusion that Nimia should stay as far away from Clovis as possible. But of course, she instead falls in love with him. Then Clovis does something unmentionably terrible, and that made me simultaneously angry and sad. I kind of want to continue reading the series if just to find out what happens between Clovis and Nimia.

While I'm glad there was romance, I really wish there had been no sex. That was the only part of the novella that kept it from its full potential. What I enjoyed most about the story was the plot. In fact, that's one of the only reasons I want to read the next installment is because I want to know if Nimia finds her family, I want to know if she'll get caught, I want to know if she will stop being crazy about sex, and most of all, I want to see if she'll find someone worthy of her love. Bu I'll say it again, I wish 'Slave Girl' wasn't an erotic romance.

'Slave Girl' is an interesting read about a young girl battling her fears and desires, and for the first time, features a good guy who isn't exactly a good guy. Readers who like high fantasy and won't mind the unusual sex scenes may consider giving this novella a try. It may not have been the best read, but it's so much better than I had expected when looking at the cover and synopsis.

It's my first foray into a serial that comes packed with historical background, dangerous intrigue and delights of the flesh. And with that elegant prose, it's a winner!

I truly enjoyed the first episode for all those reasons. Let me tell you more.

Nimia has been a powerful Roman's slave for nine years. She's been prepared to lay with him for the first time, and the lessons have awakened her female desires. Though fate intervenes in the form of a barbarian price who entices a new world of dangerous and forbidden longings in the mysterious slave.

Beautifully laid out scenes that surprise, entertain and arouse in the most delicious way. The author's narrative weaves a delicate balance between slow-burning eroticism and brutal, well-researched historical atmosphere. I enjoyed every moment of the lessons in the art of physical love that Nimia partly endures, partly anticipates. It was exhilarating to be constantly running on the edge of fear. Nimia is in a precarious position as a slave. Her master is not ordinary man, always testing her limits, teasing her unknown cravings, pushing her to spying for min and obeying his boundaries on the threat of punishment.

Every scene grows in intensity as the plot thickens. Being a slave or risk it all to freedom? Keep the past buried or grab it with both hands at the risk of everything she knows? I loved the secrets that surround Nimia's origins, how exotic they seem compared to anyone, Romans and barbarians alike. It made her more compelling as a character and opened up new venues of adventures for the future. There is a hint of esoteric power and lots of risks taken that only add to the life-or-death atmosphere.

Pleasantly surprising, this smart, masterfully written story stands out from the lot thanks to many interesting elements:

- intrigue and political struggle in that far era

- characters driven by passion and ambition

- mysterious, exotic customs

- scenes laden with sensuality

- clever, intriguing dialogues

Clovis and Sygarious are men to be reckoned with:

- the young Frank prince who is temptation and could represent freedom or death for Nimia

- the fully mature Roman who stirs a woman's senses to pleasures of the flesh but could ruthlessly take life away

Nimia is a woman torn by her situation. Reckless, young, brave, eager for freedom, beautiful in her flaws. I liked her a lot because I understand all her needs and fears, and she's in the middle of the most exciting and dangerous events. And the scene with the bull... OMG. Superb.

This is a great adventure that, fortunately, is only beginning. After such treat of lust, intrigue, ancient rites, betrayal and treacherous excitement, I can only say that I want, have to, know what awaits this slave like no other!

ARC provided by author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

So, I will be the first to admit that I read lots of books, many of them of the cheesy romance/erotica genre, shamelessly. When I saw this book, it definitely appealed to me for that reason. I loved the idea of concubines, sexual slavery (yet everything in this book was consensual, don't worry) with a bit of mystical powers thrown in. I haven't read many books like this before, that is, this type of historical romance (it is generally all about the highlanders for some reason) but I did thoroughly enjoy it.

Nimia, a girl who was captured and put into slavery (slavery grooming her to become a concubine of course) wants nothing more than her freedom, but also crazy hot sex with her master. Her wishes are pretty conflicting, but the author definitely made it work. Her master is kind to her, teaching her lessons about how sex works and how to please a man and that she can become aroused even when she doesn't think she will (hell yes these lessons were sexy...more please). Now throw in Clovis, a man that is most definitely not Nimia's master, but someone she lusts after anyway. This created a pretty hot love triangle for Nimia (I was totally hoping for a threesome, but sadly this did not happen...) to figure out.

I really did like this book. It flowed well, instead of jumping around from place to place. Overall, this was a pretty good book, can't wait until the next one comes out.

I was surprised by this book. Not only is it sexy, erotic, but it also has a story to tell. It is a story of slave girl Nimia and her owner Sygarius. Nimia was captured when she was a young girl by Sygarius. Once he saw her, he knew he had to have her as his. But instead of taking the young girl to his bed, he had her attend classes of erotic content until she old enough to be his mistress Nimia had no choice but to watch. No one was allowed to touch her, not even herself. Nimia was subject to watch and learn so when Sygarius would finally decide to take her virginity, she would not be able to resist. But also she would learn how to please a man and what a man would want of her as well. With her body awakened and yearning to be the perfect woman for Sygarius, a barbarian named Clovis came to visit. She not only wanted him but also her master as well. This story is told by Nimia and the sexual battle she faces along with her submissive life that she has learned to believe it was meant to be.

It was okay. I guess. I wish I could say that it was something special.

The premise of the story is that Nimia is Sygarius' sex slave. Although they never have had sex yet, she is claimed to him. He's been teaching her various "lover" techniques for a while, and is only waiting for her to become a woman and perform her initiation ritual (which is fucked up)

Of course someone more enticing comes along. Clovis. He manages to get her to break her slave vow (there wasn't really a vow involved, but same kind of premise).

I didn't really think the romance or sex scenes were that well written. If it wasn't short, I probably would have DNF-ed it, but as I kept on turning the pages I decided to give it a 2.

There is a part 2, and I don't think I will be reading that.

We'll that made me blush! I usually turn my feminist off when I read romance, especially erotica. I couldn't here. And that's not a bad thing. The them in this book that struck a chord with me is the idea of choices -specifically women's choices. The women of Nimia's time didn't have many. But what choices they did have they stretched and exploited to the fullest. We do the same now, though we have so many more of them. I really liked that about Nimia's character. She was written honestly and unapologetically. So were the men for their time. And for that I did not find them attractive or swoonworthy. As they limited her choices they eliminated my desire and interest.

Three stars for the writing and heroine's character development.

Nimia was captured as a young girl and became a slave to the ruler of Rome. He has been readying her for her first sexual encounter with him. No one is allowed to touch her even in passing. Before her ritual was to happen she had given herself to a visitor of her capture. Now she must find out how to run away before her capture kills her.

This story was actually written very well. The sentence structures and the way the author moved from one scene to another was done smoothly.

The story line was also interesting. The love scenes was more X-rated that anything but still had a touch of class. The ending leaves alot to be desired because it leaves you hanging. I love a book that stands alone and can be read as a series.

This isn't a harem story, but it read Old School like that for me. Captive heroine trained to be a sex slave gets her head turned by a visiting dignitary - a development that could get her killed since she is being trained to be deflowered by her master.

As a romance, this first installment of a serial does not work. Mostly you're reading it for the promise of things to come. In this story we start to see the heroine rebel. She starts thinking about a life outside of being a powerful man's plaything. I'm hoping future installments will show her coming into her own, freeing herself, and discovering her own free will. I'm hopeful.

Thanks Netgalley for a free book to read and review!

A sex slave who's never been touched.....lovely Nimia is a slave to King Sygarius. I enjoyed reading this story as it certainly captures the imagination. Nimia knows her value beyond her virginity is unpredictable and until she sees Clovis she knows who is going to get her virginity. Touch me not, for Sygarius's I am.......The story has some unique twists that pull you into the story and the cliffhanger at the end was beautiful. She makes a decision about her virginity and future which cause cataclysmic reactions and then she must flee. Where will she go? Overall entertainment was four stars. Highly erotic novel.

This is the first erotic book I've reviewed. So maybe I only found it "meh" because it's not my usual read...

I liked the cover, I was getting tired of reading the same old kind of book, and thought I'd give something new a try. The sex scenes are explicit enough that the classification of the book is correct. The story had a lot of promise, but the book (novella) is just too short to really do the characters or the many sub stories any justice.

There were some glaring contradictions that took away from the book.

The second installment might be better, this one was ok.

When I first started this book I was uncomfortable with the idea of a young girl who has just entered puberty and taking sex classes. I'm a mother of a teenage daughter. However, I do know that for the time period and her station this was a normal fact of life for the slave. As I read on I found a very interesting story line. The slave of course wants her freedom and she has to choose which way she chooses to obtain this freedom. She also wants to find her people and her place with in the their culture. It's very interesting and I'm curious to find out what the slave will have to face next..

1001 Erotic nights is an interesting blend of historical fiction and erotica. The sex scenes are a bit cliched and seem more to be based on the assumptions of what happened at these "Roman Orgies" rather than factual. The characters are unfortunately somewhat flat and by the end I didn't really feel like I had gotten to know them well enough to care about their problems. Perhaps this will change with further volumes.

I am grateful that I was able to have the chance to review this book before release but sad that I was not able to do so. Lisa Cach's writing is superb. Great storyline. Some pretty steamy scenes. Steamy enough to get those juices flowing. GREAT JOB on the details. Can't wait to read the next in the series
