About the author

C. Gockel got her start writing fanfiction, and she is not ashamed! Much. She received emails, messages and reviews from her fans telling her she should 'do this professionally'. She didn't; because she is a coward and life as a digital designer, copywriter and coder is more dependable. But in the end, her husband's nagging wore her down: "You could be the next '50 Shades of Gray' and I could retire!" Unfortunately, the author isn't much for writing smut. She is sad about this; she'd love for her husband to be able to retire and just work for her so she could nag him.

At the moment, Ms. Gockel is working on the next installment of her Archangel Project series.

A delightfully different take on Odin's horse Sleipnir.

A cute short story that is set between books 4 and 5 in the I Bring the Fire series. A very quick read but also a nice one where we get to see more of Claire [she's going to be important later!] and also get to learn more about Sleipnir and even get his POV so I thought that was interesting. I think you could probably skip this one if you really wanted to and not miss anything, but I think it's nice as a kind of missing scene kind of thing.

I am so glad that I have discovered this author. While this was a short story it really packed a bang, Gockel is able to develop a story that has you setting aside your knowledge that magical beings do not exist. You are so involved with story that you don't have time to wonder how an 8-legged horse might look or move. You know that there are some that want to set free, her "owner" wants her back, the FBI has another entirely different attitude, and no one asks Sleipnir what he wants. This novel has suspense, magic, and is also a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend this read. I received this novel from BookFunnel. This is a true and honest review.

Short and sweet

This is a very brief story about Sleipnir, Odin's magical, sentient, 8-legged horse. Being the son of Loki, he shares some of Loki's traits, including lie detection and being mischievous. Told from the horse's perspective, it's a warm tale that fits right into the rest of this series.

I enjoyed getting to know Sleipnir better and liked Claire's role in this one. It made a very powerful impression on me, especially the image of the black Director making a plea against slavery.

This series must be read in order. The first book isI Bring the Fire Part I : Wolves (A Loki Story). The second book is Monsters : I Bring the Fire Part II (A Loki Story). The third book is Chaos: I Bring the Fire Part III (A Loki Story). The fourth book is In the Balance: An I Bring the Fire Novella (IBF 3.5). The fifth book is Fates : I Bring the Fire Part IV: The Hunt for Loki is On. This is the sixth book.

Sleipnir is one or Loki's children from one of his many incarnations. He is an eight legged snow white horse that has the mind and soul of a God and just lacks the vocal cords to communicate through speech. Odin being the evil tyrant that he is has enslaved Loki's son with a magical bridle and keeps him like he would a mundane horse. That is wrong on sooo many levels! This is Sleipnir's story and it was awesome! I don't want to give too much away so I will just say this was amazingly written and I can't wait to read the next book!

I've loved every book and novella in the I Bring The Fire series so far, and this was no exception. My only complaint was that it was too short (but it said "short" story, so that was to be expected). I loved finding out more about Sleipnir. It's not very often you get to see the world through the eyes of a magical, eight-legged horse. The writing just keeps getting better and better, and I dare anybody to read these stories without being sucked into that world, never to return. Because it's not possible. Humor, action, suspense, a little bit of romance (not so much of the last in this one, but definitely in the other books), it has everything tasty you've ever wanted in a book series. So much <3. Can I give it ten stars instead?

Unlike In the Balance, The Slip is really a short story. Mainly to explain some probably gap between Fates and Warriors.
It does have some funny quirks, and the Sleipnir point of view of the world is very interesting in a literary way and somewhat refreshing.
The main characters also make their appearances, or something like this... If you did read the first arc then you know what I'm talking about.

Never before have I felt such emotion for a character in such a short amount of time! Despite having learning only the basics about Sleipnir before this short story, I rapidly fell in love with him. A true child of Chaos, he is intelligent, caring, and not just a little mischievous. I was aching to see what would happen to him and loved what this brilliant equine managed to put together on a dime, along with some assistance from our favourite characters. Once again perfectly consecutive and absolutely necessary to read in order, as well as a truly worth while and important read between the books!

Another I Bring the Fire tale but told from Odin's world-walking steed's point of view. Maybe I'm prejudiced, but it seems to me that the horse in this case is smarter than the people. Amy, Bodhi and Sliepnir have escaped from Asgard and are back in what seems to be their own timeline. However, Odin wants his horse back and sends Valkries and soldiers to get him. Will Slip stay free or go back to Odin?

I loved this side story because it gave you things from one of Loki’s children, Sleipnir, an eight legged horse’s point of view. Sleipnir has been under the spell of a magic bridle thus he is just a common horse and not the intelligent being he truly is. Norse Mythology meets the modern world.

This is a short story about the Allfather's famous 8 legged stallion Sleipnir. It just fills in a brief part of the ongoing saga between the 4th and 5th books. It is a quick read, but it is not crucial to the overarching story.
