Over the course of two years, Steffy conducted interviews with the fabulous women around her and their equally fantastic friends. She put no restrictions on age, or ethnicity. They just needed to be willing to answer some questions. Steffy asked them about the expectations they had for their lives when they were very young versus their current realities as adults. She aske ...more

Reviewed for Readers Favorite.

Are you reaching out for all that life has to offer or are you sitting back wondering why you haven't achieved what you wanted? My Letter to Fear is a collection of short essays, each chapter is really a different topic and focus, but Fear connects them all. Some of the chapters are funny, with past experiences recounted for the benefit of the reader to prove a point, others are words of encouragement or even chastisements. Each addresses the many ways that we allow

"My Letter to Fear" is a compilation of stories about what women worry about-- from relationships and career changes, to aging and anal bleaching, to worry itself. Some pieces will have you chuckling to yourself, some will have your eyes tearing up, and some will have you nodding along as if you're reading about your own life. In fact, it is impossible to read this book and *not* feel like at least one piece is written directly about or directed to you.

One stand out piece in particular includes

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny at times, it was a bit emotional at times, and there were some essays that were just too easy to identify with. There is something for everyone mixed in the pages of this book.

The writing was fun and flowed well, there was never a point where I was bored and felt like I needed to put it down. But, I also feel like you should spread out the reading of the book over time so you can take in some of the essays and really think about them. It makes the book m

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review. My Letter to Fear:... is a book of essays that Patricia Steffy wrote after talking to many women of all ages, shapes, sizes, and situations. The subject matter ranges from the heartbreaking anguish of domestic abuse to the agony of social awkwardness to the oddity of cosmetic procedures done on body parts best not mentioned in this review. The fears explored in the book are universal t ...more

The author writes with quick wit and charm while tackling deep issues. However, sometimes her stories become convoluted and wrapped around a million different ways, and I couldn't keep up. Steffy tries to go from deep thought to light quirk too quickly and the message gets lost. She tries to emphasize the importance of such emotions as fear and doubt, except she often comes off as a child trying to disguise as an adult. I mean no ill will against the author, and this certainly can be appealing t ...more

Who doesn't like to read a book that feels like the author is inside your head? A book in which you, or at least one of your friends, could be the protagonist? "My Letter to Fear" is just such a book. This collection of essays is at times funny, shocking, heartbreaking, and life-affirming, but always deeply authentic and vulnerable. Our thoughts and reactions to life aren't always pretty, noble, or even rational and this writer wasn't afraid to go there, portraying her characters with a raw hone ...more

An enjoyable read. Short, funny but relevant.

I would definitely recommend this book! My Letter to Fear will tell you that yes, life can be a little intimidating at times (or okay most of the times) but you're not alone. And we can go through life successfully if only you believe. :)
