Karin, I finally read your first book. It's fun to read a book written by someone you know. I liked the story and I suddenly have an urge to start a garden. The passion you have for gardening shined through and I enjoyed the touches of humor.

I would recommend more beta readers for future books. They may have caught some of the grammatical errors and some little mistakes, such as: you're never allowed to slide into first base and when a lone runner is on third, they can stay there. They only have

Blooming Marvelous!

'Community Gardens' is the debut novel from Karin Boutall and introduces The Garden Suspense Series.
When Joan loses her husband in an aviation accident, moving back to Sand Hill Cove, Mississippi, with her son, Zack, seems like a smart move. There she can pursue her dream of running a local garden shop and raise her son with the help of local friends. However, it quickly becomes clear that, like most small towns, Sand Hill Cove has its secrets!
This book is perfect, 'curl up

I received this book from Goodreads in exchange for a review.

‘Community Gardens’ is a folksy story with endearing characters and all the charm of a small town setting. The story focuses on Joan Louen, who has returned to the small town of Sand Hill Cove, Mississippi, with her young son, following the tragic death of her military husband. Joan’s dream has always been to open a garden shop, a dream that becomes a reality when she acquires an old run down house, which she converts into the perfect

I would have liked to have seen more character development of all the primary characters; would also have liked to have seen better proofreading (i.e.: site for sight; sited for cited; your for you're). I know computers do not make those distinctions, but a proofreader should have. I thought it took a long time to get to the "murder" and there was no sleuthing in the conclusion. I also had a bit of a problem with one character who used (only twice as I recall) the word: "shittin'" which simply d ...more

I love the Mississippi Gulf Coast and I love gardening, but..

...somewhere about half-way through the Book I just lost interest in the story. Not sure why, but, I struggled to finish the book. Will try reading it again some other time... maybe I just was not in the mood for the slow pace of the book.
