Natalie J. Damschroder hasn't done anything remotely worthy of bio documentation in a very long time, unless you count making up the romantic adventures that her characters live out in her books. She loves combining end-of-the-world stakes with the relationships that make those stakes personal. Love with a Shot of Adrenaline has infused nearly every story she's published. Whether you like quick reads you can finish in a day or sinking into longer books, you'll find something to satisfy your craving for action, romance, and happy endings. She also writes paranormal young adult romance as NJ Damschroder, where all of the same elements apply.

Besides her dozens of published books, what Natalie is most proud of is her family. She and her husband have been married over 30 years and still have the kind of partnership she makes her characters fight for every day. They've raised two awesome kids now living their own fulfilling lives, which you would think would mean she'd write more books faster. Brady Fitzpatrick had been friends with Molly Brynes so long that she was his best friend and was razzed a lot when they roomed together. Molly was she best friend and knew everything about him, but as they went to the train station to get his brother's girlfriend, bang went his heart and he instantly knew what his mom and dad meant when they met! But Jessica was now Christopher's girlfriend and he couldn't make a play on her. He knew he rarely kept a girl for longer than a couple of months so he would wait. At Thanksgiving dinner he was so surprised when they announced their engagement and had to put on a happy face. But once he accepted a position at SIEGE, he intentionally stayed away from family gatherings and his best friend...........

Molly Brynes grew tired of concerts and trips abroad, so she settled down in Boston to open a store. When Jessica called to say that Chris was dead, she knew she had to find Brady and give him the news, to be there for whatever he needed. They hadn't talked in twelve years, but she still loved him no matter how she tried to get over him.................

Natalie Damachroder spins a gripping tale filled with suspense, lies, and intrigue that will leave readers breathless and panting for more!

Brady Fitzpatrick and Molly Byrnes bickered, the way best friends do. This time they were bickering about true love when he spied an off-limits her, Jessica couldn't be on his list of must haves. She was with his brother, Chris, a definite no poaching zone. Brady couldn't see Molly loving him, not when he knew there was no chance of a life with Jessica, not when he changed all his familiar relationships forever.

Jessica and Chris loved each other even after they married, the elder Fitzpatrick's loved their family though they didn't understand why Brady retreated and withdrew from the close-knit family. Unthinkably, Chris suddenly dies. Though they'd grown apart, Molly continued to love Brady as she chased her goals and built a life, she couldn't let him find out alone, from a stranger or over the telephone.

Unknown to their family and each other, both Brady and Chris were field agents for SIEGE, a black ops intelligence agency focused on combating homegrown terrorism. Meanwhile, Molly secretly joined SIEGE as an asset. Finding Brady, giving him the news and escorting him to Connecticut wasn't a cakewalk.

While it mended Molly's heart to fall back into 'them', it also broke it that what Blake wanted most of all was to be at Jessica's side. Molly draws attention from a co-worker just as things become more suspicious closer to home. The fully fleshed characters did well in this fast paced romantic suspense from a new to me author. The action, romance, tension and plotting combined for a fun read.

Brady has been friends with Molly since they were kids. She has loved him forever. When he picks his brother's girlfriend, Jessica, up from the train station, he falls in love with her. His brother, Chris, announces their engagement & Brady is crushed. He approaches Jessica and (Molly overhears) tells her he wants her. She crushes him & he loses himself for 12 years avoiding his Family & Molly until Molly hunts him down on a mission when his brother is killed.

Come to find out this is all spy missions & information passing & the web of people involved is huge. Most of the book, they are planning for a funeral & trying to find out what happened to his brother. There are twists everywhere.

It's a fast paced book & I had to find out what happened, so I couldn't put it down. The who is solved, but the what exactly, why and how was kind of left to broad. It didn't make sense. It had much more potential but dropped short of excellent.

One bit that bugged me was a part about hanging knives with fishing line. So strange. I think a mattress tented with a table over a person would solve that issue rather than a complicated flipping of a chair and table. Actually it was the lack of description & broad explanation that made it a bad scene for me. Then, it was over quickly, with a generalized wrap up. You'll know what I mean after you read it for yourself.

It is a good book. Worth the read. I just had a couple problems with a little bit of the description & plot.

ARC provided by the Publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Natalie J. Damshroder has delivered another thrilling romantic suspense. Her latest release, Hearts Under Siege will keep the readers on the edge of their seats. This is a book the reader will not want to put down until they solve the mystery, catch the bad guy, and finally see this couple get their relationship together. It is a story about a life time friendship, unrequited love, secrets, murder, and deceit. It is all based around a top secret spy agency called Seige.

Seige is a private information gathering agency. They gather information for different government agencies. Unlike the other government agencies in the spy business, they are just information gatherers. Their work can be dangerous but is mostly a network of gathering intel. Most of the time the agents on a mission do not know all of the information concerning the intel they are gathering. They do not know other operators from the company. They do not know the handlers, the conduits, and the administrative staff. Their work is secretive in all aspects.

Brady and Molly have been best friends since childhood. Molly has always secretly loved Brady Fitzpatrick. She had a crappy family and became an honorary member of the Fitzpatrick clan. While in college, Brady and Molly’s friendship is put on hold when Brady falls in love with his brother Christopher’s fiancé. He becomes mesmerized by Jessica and his love for her. When his brother and Jessica announce their engagement, Brady feels like he has to make his move and let his feelings be known to Jessica before it’s too late. He is torn by betraying his brother and being true to his feelings. When his feelings are rejected by Jessica, Brady is devastated. He cannot stand by and watch the woman he loves lead a happy life with his brother. He accepts the job with Siege and turns his back on his family for twelve years.

When Christopher dies in a mysterious accident and his death is handled with secrecy, it becomes obvious that Christopher was also an agent for Siege. His death is what finally brings Brady home to face all that he has turned his back on.

Molly had always loved Brady. She was hurt when he fell for Jessica. She was understanding and supportive of his feelings towards Jessica even though it killed her. She understood why he chose a career that would take him away from the family. She accepted it and moved on with her life. When she finds out about Christopher’s death, she knows she has to get to Brady and bring him home. Through her work as a conduit at Seige, she is able to track him down. She accepts the fact that when Brady comes home, his path will be cleared for a relationship with Jessica. She is a strong woman and understands unrequieted love.

As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Christopher’s death is not an accident. Deceptions are revealed. Secrets are buried. People are not who they seem to be. Siege is not the agency they thought they worked for. Relationships are not as they appear, and finally Brady faces the reality of his unrequieted love. His eyes are fully opened and Molly is everything he wants and needs. Now he will have to convince her that he is sincere and his feelings are very real.

I loved the characters in this book. Molly was a strong woman that the readers can admire. Brady was a character that grew in emotional depth. The Fitzpatrick family is a strong unit, full of emotional strength and loving support. The bad guys are unpredictable and a complete surprise. The other Siege operatives are interesting and make the story very real.

Hearts Under Siege is fast paced, full of high octane action, and portrays a very honest look into human emotions. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

This book was such a great read and drew me in from the first page. There was lots of action and suspense, I loved the premise of the SEIGE organization and how the different parts of the organization worked with each other, and I loved Molly and Brady’s love story.

First we have Molly – loyal, dependable, compassionate, and so strong! She’s been in love with her best friend Brady forever, but he never sees her as more than just a best friend. Even though she is heart broken when Brady pulls away from her and his family, she still moves on with her life, eventually joining the SIEGE organization and even going as far as asking for basic training to defend herself even though that’s something that her job as a conduit with SIEGE doesn’t really require. I loved Molly – she was always there for Brady, giving him anything and everything that he needed, but she knows that Brady is carrying a heavy dose of unrequited love for his brother Chris’s wife Jessica, and she needs to harden her heart with regards to her romantic feelings towards Brady.

Then there is Brady – sweet, honorable, but nursing a broken heart. He’s pulled away from Molly and his family because he has feelings for his brother’s wife Jessica, and it hurts too much to be around her. So he throws himself into his work with SIEGE, and has spent the past eight years on missions, spending little time with his family or Molly. Even though I wanted to give Brady a bit of a smack, I did feel bad for him when Jessica kind of strung him along when he declared his feelings for her – I think if she had given him closure from the beginning, I don’t think it would have taken him so long to get over her, and he definitely wouldn’t have pulled away from his family and Molly for so long.

When Brady’s brother Chris, who happens to be another SIEGE operative (Molly knows, but Brady doesn’t), is killed on the job, Molly tracks Brady down to give him the news and they end up sharing a night of passion that has Brady rethinking his best-friend thoughts toward Molly. But Molly can’t risk more heartbreak, so she shrugs the night off as no big deal, just letting off some steam and using sex as an outlet for grief, and she bottles all her feelings back up. Meanwhile, Brady can’t stop thinking about Molly and what he is feeling for her, but Molly keeps finding ways to avoid talking about what happened, fearful that she may be opening herself up to the ultimate heart break.

When evidence presents itself that Chris’s death may not be accidental or even have happened at all, Brady and Molly begin an investigation that leads them into danger and lands them in the middle of a whole bunch of lies and deceptions. As Brady becomes more certain of his feelings for Molly, he’ll need to figure out a way to convince Molly to take a chance on him and that his feelings are real.

I loved Brady and Molly together. Their friendship was so real and genuine, and even though Molly has hidden her romantic feelings for Brady, there was never any doubt that their friendship ran deep and true. It was great to see Molly take care of herself and Brady acknowledge just how capable she was – even though he had a natural instinct to protect Molly, Brady realized that she was just as able to take care of herself, and she also made it easy for him by readily admitting when something was beyond her capabilities.

I really enjoyed this book. It had the right balance of romance and suspense and I loved the writing style. This book is a must read for any fan of romantic suspense, whether you like it heavy on the romance or heavy on the suspense, this book will not disappoint!

I received an eARC from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Title: Hearts Under Seige

Series: N/A

Author: Natalie J. Damschroder

Genre: Romance

Blurb: Brady Fitzpatrick has spent a decade burying the pain of a broken heart while working for SIEGE, an information-gathering spy agency. That it kept him away from his family as well as his best friend Molly has been an unfortunate side effect. But when his brother, also an agent, is killed during a foreign op, Brady is drawn into a web of intrigue that threatens the lives of everyone he loves…

Molly Byrnes has loved Brady forever. As his best friend and a de facto member of the Fitzpatrick family, she holds them together in their crushing grief. But as a member SIEGE’s ground team, she doesn't buy the official line about Brady’s brother’s “accidental” death and launches her own investigation—only to uncover a shocking secret that she and Brady must get to the bottom of before their target finds them.

Tangled emotions land them in bed together, opening Brady’s eyes to the incredible, fearless woman who’s been there for him all his life. But after a lifetime of disappointment, how can Molly trust the possibility of a future with him…or if they can count on any future at all?

Thoughts: This was an absolutely amazing book. What first drew me in was the whole 'best friend' angle of it, so I was a bit surprised when Brady winds up falling for his brother's fiancé in the very beginning. Granted, when he first sees her, he's unaware of that fact, but I hated to see the whole dynamics around that - but so well done and with such likeable characters, that I just had to keep going! Part of me wanted to tell Molly to get over him and find someone else, since she has been pining away for far too long, but on the other you keep hoping that Brady will eventually open up his eyes to see right in front of him!

With equal amounts of romance and intrigue, this is definitely one that will capture your attention and leave you hungry to finish the book! What really captured me - other than the characters - was the author's sense of timing. The author really took her time with it - the story wasn't rushed, and she really took the time to allow these characters to work through their changing emotions. At the same time, she still managed to keep things interesting and keep your attention.

I did feel a little conflicted regarding the persons behind all the intrigue - I wanted to find the villain a little closer to home, but I guess I can't complain - it wasn't so patently obvious that it hurt the storyline either. All in all, I really have nothing but praise for this book!

My opinion:
A pure pleasure! As you know I do love romantic suspense from time to time, it’s a genre I really appreciate but sadly they are also often too predictable for me with “Hearts under Siege” it wasn’t the case at all.

The story is captivating, Molly and Brady are characters we would love to meet and there are so many twists and turns that I was completely hooked turning pages after pages without a break because I needed to know! A pure pleasure, I’m telling you….yes I did guess some things but really I was completely immersed in the story.

Brady is a moving character…I love how romantic he is and his vision of love, but unfortunately he is also stupid from time to time and I wanted to shake him to open his eyes to what was in front of him! However I must admit he is utterly loyal and did suffer to do the honourable thing. Molly was so reliable… all along she was by his side even when he didn’t think too and she did enter SIEGE also because he was part of it I’m sure. She is more talented that she think I loved how intelligent she was, she reacted quickly on the field and trusted her instinct…it’s an heroine without super power but that’s what makes her so believable and adorable… who wouldn’t want such a friend?!
Now about Jessica.. I did hate her from the start and it didn’t improve even at the end … I don’t trust her.

The Fitzpatrick are a funny family and I wouldn’t have minded to have them as neighbours, Molly was really lucky to have them growing up even if she certainly idolised them it’s the kind of family I want to see more of. Now ,oki the official front of course^^, I’m not tough enough for SIEGE and I don’t think I would be able to lie to my family even for the greater good…

The intrigue was wonderfully though and built; the rhythm perfect, fast but not so much it wouldn’t seem believable. The relationship between Brady and Molly is steamy but it felt right, not rushed or too quick. I didn’t guess the villain, the secondary characters are not filling void just that but are real part of the story.

If you are looking for an excellent romantic suspense with action, romance and lot of surprise^^ you have to try this one!

Brady has stayed away from his family for years. He had his heart broke and doesn't want to face the loss all the time so he stays busy working for SIEGE. He is a spy going on dangerous missions and his family doesn't know what he really does. Molly has always cared for Brady. She has been his best friend for years and his family treats her like one of them. She is also a member of SIEGE and while she knows what Brady does, he has no clue she is a member of SIEGE. When Brady's brother is killed Molly has to go get Brady. Molly feels something isn't right with the death and begins to look into it her self. While she and Brady work to figure things out they find themselves in danger and while Brady has had his eyes opened to how great Molly is, she is afraid his past heart ache will never stop.

Molly is such an amazing character. She loves Brady and his family and will do anything for them. She is strong, smart and doesn't let anything stop her from getting the answers she seeks. She is the type that would rather stand by and let the guy she loves be with someone else as long as they are happy. I love her and how she is constantly surprising people. Brady is a good guy who has had his head turned by a woman he can never have. He has walked away from his family and never thought he could be around them a lot. He has a dangerous job and he is good at it. I really started to like him when he really uses his eyes and sees what is in front of him.

From the start I could tell this would be a great book. I got wrapped up in this family and just had to have more. There is tons of action and danger and they are working for the same company but some of them don't know it. SIEGE has many secrets and plots unraveling and Molly and Brady find themselves right in the middle of it. There is so many twist and turns you don't see coming that keep you guessing what next. I love when Brady sees his past love again and has to face the fact she may not be the girl for him. He finally sees her faults and sees how wonderful Molly is. Molly is always right there ready to help in anyway. If you want a book that keeps you intrigued and fantastic characters and romance you must try this one.

This book by Natalie Damschroder is an action packed thrilling adventure read.

Brady Fitzpatrick works for SEIGE, an information gathering agency and it has kept him from his family and his best friend, Molly. Now Brady finds himself drawn into a web of intrigue that threatens the lives of everyone he loves when his brother is killed during a foreign op. Molly Burns has loved Brady forever and as his best friend and de facto member of the Fitzpatrick family she holds the family together during their crushing grief. But as a SEIGE agent, she doesn’t buy the company line about Brady’s brother’s “accidental” death and launches her own investigation. The shocking secret that she uncovers makes her and Brady a target and now they have to get to their target before the target finds them. When tangled emotions lands them in bed together, Brady’s eyes are finally opened, but will Molly be able to trust him after a lifetime of disappointment?

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps the reader on the edge of their seat with lots of action, suspense and romance. The author brings the story and the characters to life with well written words and vivid imagery that capture the imagination and has the reader feeling as if they are part of the story. The characters are strong and compelling, easily related to and grab the reader’s attention and doesn’t let go.

The romance between Molly and Brady have a past history that seriously affects the present and the budding romance between them now is hindered by the bad guy who want them dead. The author conveys the emotions, passions and personalities of these two very likable characters with intense details that have the reader becoming emotionally invested in their romantic adventure. Molly totally captures the heart and has the reader cheering her own when the clueless finally catches on.

I was totally engrossed in this riveting story from beginning to end and the author kept me guessing with some surprises that I certainly didn’t see coming and the events took place at such a fast pace that I was kind of scared to blink afraid I might miss something. I wonder if she is going to write Dix’s story, I would love to hear more from him.

If looking for a book chock full of adventure with romance in the jist of it all this is the one. Molly hunts down her best friend since forever to tell him some bad news in person. Brady has been working for Siege for quite a few years now staying away from friends a family alot due to his brother and the girl he marries thinking she was the one but too late met her while picking her up for said brother Chris who then proceeds to spring on family they were getting married. So Molly also works for them also using her store as a front knows how to track and find him about his brother. The thing is she is also in love with him too and always has been but he has not seen her that way. Surprise! Surprise! he is stunned to say the least she also works for them and even more stunned of the news. On the way home comes the long awaited hook up (on her part that is) and the beginning of a different kind of relationship for them both. Need and comfort are funny things sometimes and not everyone can full fill them both but that is what happens with these too. Thinking though that Brady can finally have a relationship with Jessica if he so desires she does not want to stand in his way. Bigger girl is she than I would be. But events accumulate and it would appear that Chris's death is more than meets the eye and that where investigation begins. Very intriguing and riveting storyline you keep pressing forward through all the action wanting to know all the answers but for every answer more questions pop up that need answering. Thank goodness that a relationship grows into something more for Molly and Brady and he sees the light where Jessica was concerned. Rooting for the home girl so to speak and that their lips do meet quite often. Anyways several surprises in store for the reader concerning just who all is involved with Siege and the help they receive. The ending also is a killer in more ways than one but death might not be so final after all for one of the characters. So as I have stated intrigue, romance and adventure rolled all into one right at the fingertips with satisfying results when finished. Received a arc for a honest review.

5 stars

I loved this book. The story grabbed me right away and I found myself having a hard time putting it down to do anything else. I love a book that can cause me to miss my bed time because I start doing the "I am going to read just 1 more chapter" routine. This book was that kind of book.

Brady and Molly have been best friends since childhood. The story starts with them in their early 20's. Molly has deeper feelings for Brady but keeps them to herself. Brady and Molly are sent to pick up his brother's girlfriend at the train station and Brady falls instantly in love with Jessica. Years later, Molly gets a call from Jessica that Christopher, Brady's brother, is dead. Molly knows how to get in touch with Brady, who has become a secret agent, so she sets out to find him. The pair work together to piece together what has really happened to Christopher. Brady finally starts to see that Jessica may not have been the one for him after all and lets himself see Molly in a new way.

This book was very well written. The characters felt three dimensional and their actions were very believable. The plot kept me guessing and made the book really hard to put down. I actually laid in bed wondering what had happened to Christopher. The chemistry between Brady and Molly was intense and made a little sad to know that they waited so long to be together.

I would highly recommend this book to all fans of romantic suspense. I am actually hoping that this is the beginning of a new series. I would love to see some more of these agents in future books and maybe catch a peek and this pair again. This is the second book by this author that I have read and I have loved both so far. I am becoming a huge fan of Natalie J. Damschroder. I definitely plan to pick up some of her other works in the near future.

This is the first book that I have read by Natalie J. Damschroder and I truly enjoyed it. She has a great way of telling a story that includes mystery and suspense that I was hanging on to every detail until the very end. I will definitely be looking into other titles that she’s written.

What happens when you are in love with your best friend and he does not even know that you exist as someone he could fall in love with? Molly is about to find out.

Molly Byrnes and Brady Fitzpatrick have been best friends since they were young. She’s been a part of his life for so long that she is treated as a member of the family by each one of them. She’s also been secretly in love with him forever. Molly even accepts Brady’s choice when he falls in love at first sight with a woman he can never have. She even understands when he decides the only thing for him to do is to walk away from the situation which will cause him to stay away from her and everyone in his family.

It’s been twelve years since Brady walked away from everyone he cared about. He has spent all this time trying to deal with the pain of walking away from the woman he loves and secretly working for SIEGE. The death of Brady’s brother sends Molly to search for him. Since she also secretly works for SIEGE she offers to find him and bring him home. When they return home she’ll take care of all of the funeral arrangements for the family.

As she’s taking care of all the details she realizes that something is not right about the explanation she received from SIEGE about the accident. She no longer believes Chris’s death was accidental and starts her own investigation. When she discovers a shocking truth about Chris’s death she confides in Brady and they race to get all the proof that will prove that someone had planned his murder. Will they gather the proof they need? Or will they end up just like Chris?

Hearts Under Siege by Natalie J Damschroder

Does everyone work for SIEGE? Apparently! ;)

Molly Byrnes and Brady Fitzpatrick have been friends for a long time. Just friends. Love at first sight hits Brady hard but it's his brothers fiancé Jessica that he falls for so he distances himself from his family.
Molly and Brady both work for SIEGE, a clandestine organization and when the horrifying news comes that his brother has been killed in an accident, things aren't quite as they seem. Now Molly and Brady are on a mission to determine what really happened and Brady starts to wonder how he could have walked away from Molly so easily.

I like smart and strong heroines and Molly is both. She loves Brady but is compassionate with Jessica whom she has every right to resent. That makes Molly a nice person in my opinion. Someone I'd like as a friend.
Brady needs to deal. And he does learn.
"Because for the last few days, he hadn’t quite been able to label his growing feelings for Molly. He’d questioned their origin, their reliability, even what they actually were. He’d wanted to explore them, see what happened when he tried to name them, share them with her. But every time she’d blocked his clumsy attempts...and he’d been kind of glad. It was safer, easier, that way.
Yet those emotions wouldn’t relinquish their hold. He kept coming back to poke and prod at them like a sore tooth."

A lot of action and story-weaving in this spy adventure story. A whole lotta twists and add-ons.

I'm not usually a fan of military style romance, but I love Natalie Damschroder's other books and I'm so glad I took a chance on this one. SIEGE is a super secret spy agency - the type where the people working there don't even know who else is working there. Brady is out on assignment when news comes that his brother has died. No one can reach him but Molly, another agent of SIEGE and Brady's best friend from childhood. So the adventure starts with her tracking him down, but it doesn't stop there - something is odd about the death and they both set out to find out just what it is.

Hearts Under Siege is full of action, but throughout it all Brady is trying to come to grips with realizing that he might just be falling in love with Molly. There were a few times it was a little predictable, but in the end Natalie had a few surprises up her sleeve for me that I never saw coming. Both Molly and Brady were incredible characters. Their strengths and weaknesses complimented each other and neither of them was completely perfect, but very lovable in their imperfections.

The agency itself only came into play as a prop to get the story started and a few times to keep it moving in the right direction. It never overshadowed our characters but hummed along nicely in the background helping to hold the storyline together.

Best friends. Co-spies. Lovers. Brady and Molly have it all, except the love and relationship they could have is obvious to everyone but Brady.

Twelve years ago, he fell head-over-heels in love with his brother Christopher's girlfriend. Since he couldn't pursue her, he did what he thought was best and pulled away from everyone, including Molly. That decision caused their friendship to shift drastically, but it didn't cause her feelings for him to lessen.

It's funny how death puts things in perspective. For Brady, it helped him see his sister-in-law in a whole new light, see how much Molly really meant to him, and see what he'd been missing all those years when he was pining for his sister-in-law.

The twists in this story threw me and not in a bad way. They added layers to this story and kept me guessing, reading, and wanting to know more about what was going on.

Suspense, espionage, and romance. Ms. Damschroder did a terrific job weaving all three into a story about friends who become lovers, and whose love for each other survives years of separation and little communication. They say good things come to those who wait. For Molly, her waiting paid off in a big way: she finally got the man of her dreams.

I really enjoyed this story, it starts out out kinda slow but it doesn't drag out and it isn't long before the mystery unfolds with a few twists that leaves you thinking I didn't see that coming. The heroine is Molly a smart mouth and kick butt type of girl that's been in love with her best friend Brady(groan) we all know getting out of the friend catagory much less the best pal one can be a dead end, good thing Brady isn't as dense as some males but it does take him some time to realize that the woman he has always loved isn't his brothers Winey and needy wife. Realizing he was never gonna have Jessica after his brother announced their engagement at dinner, Brady joins a spy organization called SIEGE that he has to commit for 5years, well his not the only one that had joined that group his brother Chris and Molly were also a part of the spy world and if you read the book you'll find out who else was a spy too) anyway time moves on (slowly) the part between the dinner and finding out Chris was dead kinda dragged a bit for me but as soon as Molly found out the coffin was empty and went looking for the truth as to where Chris's body was and how he was killed bullets start flying, beds start to squeeking and the book starts to get good. This book has it all mystery, a good plot, twists and characters that are memorable. Thanks entanglement.

Holy hearts on fire!!!!!!!!

Hearts Under Siege blew me away!!

 photo tumblr_ljue2575vT1qckvzq.gif

I loved everything about this book - from start to finish.

Molly and Brady her childhood best friends.
Brady falls in love at first sight with his brother, Christopher's, girlfriend.
Brady can't control his feelings and the disappointment of knowing that he can never have her, so he distances himself from his family and his best friend, Molly.

Fast forward 12 years later...
Unexpected news of tragedy finds Molly chasing Brady down to give him the bad news.
This sets off such a crazy mission - a mission for the truth, a mission of love, a mission of rekindling the friendship they once shared.

The story springs so many secrets upon us, and every turn of the page leaves you wanting more and more.

I will most definitely read this one again when I need a fix to set my heart rate up a bit - both from the intensity of the story and the intensity of Molly and Brady's feelings for one another!!

this was my first book by Natalie J. Damschroder...what took me so long?? I don't really know, but I plan to read more of her books.

Brady, Brady, Brady....sometimes I just wanted to really hurt you!! How is it that some guys just can't see what's right in front of them?? Brady thinks he's in love with his brother's (Chris) girlfriend (Jessica) turned wife, so he actually steps away from his family, friends, and immerses himself in his work.

Molly has been in love with Brady FOREVER, but of course, he doesn't get it, so they are destined to remain best friends who don't see each other for 12 years. When Chris dies in an accident, Molly feels that she needs to hunt Brady down to give him the bad news in person.

Molly has always known that Brady felt that Jessica was the one for him, so with Chris now gone Molly intends to let Brady find happiness with Jessica, but truthfully Jessica is selfish, but it takes Brady a while to figure this out.

If your looking for a great storyline with good characters, lots of frustration (had me wanting to pull my hair out), some heartache (tears for me), excitement with a few twists and turns than look no further because you've found it.

Ok, So I loved this one. I'll admit it did take me a bit to get into it but once I did I couldn't put it down. Lost of twists and turn and suspense. A very fun ride. There were plenty of moments where I wanted to grab the characters and just shake them. Brady especially. He is such a great guy but can be so blind as to what's in front of him. I adored Molly. She's very sarcastic and fun. A really strong women. She loves Brady so much and would do anything for him. Even at the cost of her own happiness.

I seriously disliked Jessica. I know she just lost her husband and its completely understandable to fall apart but she was just so weak and oblivious to anyone's needs but her own. I hated Brady fawning over her. I know he believed that he really loved her and she was his soul mate, even though she was his brothers wife. I just couldn't get past her using him.

It all works out ok in the end. He does realize that it was just a crush and he wasn't really in love with her but it was a long journey to get there. It was worth the angst to get to the end. It's a very sweet love story in the making that realistic.

Absolutely do not start this book late in the day if you want a good night's sleep. Or you don't want to end up in the wee hours of the morning groaning because you hate to put it down. I lasted until 4 a.m. when I finally had to give up and go to sleep!

From the very beginning (which elicits a snicker over a guy who won't take directions well while driving), you find everything that makes an excellent contemporary suspense with humor. You got your clueless-for-awhile hero, a saucy, smart (but not irritating) heroine, car-chases, wake-up-calls, an accident – or was it murder? – a victim, a grieving young widow – or is she? - witty repartee, spies vs. spies, and you are plunged into mystery, doom, heartache, loss, ups and downs, and more ups, frowns, smiles, confusion (are they bad or not?), sneaky clues that lead you astray, and a fast paced plot that carries you to the very end without letting you come up for air until the very last word.

This is Natalie Damschroder’s best yet! I really, really, really hated for it to end! If you like your mystery with a brisk pace, humor, mysterious clues, and a non-whiny, non-dramatic, very real heroine, you'll enjoy this book!

The blurb gives a good synopsis of the story line and I don't want to give more details so the reader can be surprised.

I enjoyed the book and liked all the characters, particularly Molly who's love for Brady doesn't leave her not living her life and moping for him. She's moved on. The book teases us with a mention that Molly had to leave the traveling world of the music business for a home based music store after a while, but doesn't tell us why. I thought maybe there'd be a big surprise there, but we never find out why.

While I didn't mark down for this, something is found out near the end that kind of made me go, "Come on now!" (Not Shae.)

I marked it down a star because, while Brady and Molly have a 3 decades old friendship and things might not need to be said between them in real life, I felt I needed more interaction of the non-suspense variety so I could feel more for them and get more chemistry. Still, I enjoyed the book and would look forward to a book featuring Dixon.

I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

*4 Stars* Recommend book!

I really liked this book for the most part. I loved the whole bestfriend turns romance part of the book. I liked Molly and Brady together, but I still had iffy feelings about the whole Jessica Thing. I really didn't like her that much. I really wanted to smack Brady and tell him he's an idiot for not seeing what's in front of him. For the first part of the book he was "In love with Jessica" but then he suddenly isn't. I really needed more convincing that he was over her because for so long it was Jessica. Jessica this, Jessica that. Molly on the other hand, was a very likable character. I really felt sorry for her. She was in love with Brady for so long only to find out he was "In love with someone else". Brady and Molly Needed more time together for them. Yes, they have know each other all their life, but it was never anything more of friend or Family.

What a fantastic book of suspense, mystery and romance! I loved being a part of each character's growing up and realizing how much more life can be. Molly has always been a part of the Fitzpatrick clan, including best friends with Brady. You have the story of that friendship becoming more - but the author made it believable and a page turner.
Both of them are a part of SIEGE - but Brady doesn't know Molly is. When life turns upside down with a family death, things start to unravel and go wild. All seems suspicious and they both want to find out the truth. Filled with danger, heart stopping chases, heartache, and well written spy storylines, makes this an awesome page turner. Fast paced action and dialogue will make this one you can't put down. I love the loyalty woven into the family and acceptance of things you cannot change. Surprises abound in the story that you won't see coming!
I highly recommend this for a romantic, suspenseful book!

Brady Fitzpatrick ran away from his family. He was in love with his sister-in-law, Jessica, and wanted her for his own. Now after a long estrangement, he has to go home. His forever friend, Molly Brynes, tracks him down and tells him that his brother is dead. Going home isn't easy. There are too many secrets and then there is Jessica. He works for a secret agency called SIEGE. What he didn't know is so did Chris and Molly. Was his brother murdered? Why such secrecy? This book is a combination of suspense, romance and heartbreak. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions. I loved the character of Molly. She is independent and tough but at the same time she is true to herself and those she loves. I want her to find love with Brady. She has loved him since they were children. The interwoven storylines merge with surprising results. The twists and turns never stop. This was a book that I couldn't put down. Natalie J. Damschroder has written a suspenseful story.

This book earned three stars for the action and suspense. I liked the mystery and all the “secret agent” stuff, though I felt like too much was happening and it all ended rather quickly and easily.

The characters... I did not really like. I wanted to like Molly and Brady together but I didn’t. Brady disgusted me. He fell in love with his brother’s girlfriend and even planned on being with her anyways. Then he kisses her when she’s his brother’s fiancé. What a tool. And he continues to pine for her for 12 years!! He doesn’t even really know her. And then his brother is presumed dead, and he starts thinking of finally being with his wife. Ridiculous.
Molly was the same. What did she see in him? She just kept waiting all these years. I hate when authors make female characters all pathetic and immediately accepting. Brady fell out of love pretty fast too. It was just all wrong. And stupid. So that ruined the book for me.

What an amazing intense story! It had so many twists and turns. I loved everything about Brady and Molly. Molly and Brady were such strong characters from the beginning. I loved that they were best friends since an early age and knew each other better than anyone. Molly was such a generous friend, always eager to give anything she had to Brady and his family. But I loved how she was not a pushover as well. Then there is Brady who left everything for a long time. You could feel the pain in each character of the book over his departure. It was nice for him to finally get it, to open his eyes and see what he needed to see.

This story was intense, not a lighthearted romance book. But I loved it! It had love, action, emotion, friendship and secrecy. It kept me wanting to know what would happen next and holding my breath to find out.

This book had me reading well past my bedtime! It's an exemplary example of romantic suspense, well balanced and intricately plotted. The action and suspense do not suffer for the romance and the pacing is fast and furious. I'm hoping this might be part of a series because i really like the author's writing style. I am looking for more! Hearts Under Siege has compelling characters that experience growth through the story and tug your heart strings quite well. The story twists and turns make for an interesting read and they will keep you turning the pages. It's also a satisfying friends to lovers tale with a happily ever after.

I can honestly say I was skeptical at first but once I dove in I couldn't stop. Spy/thrillers aren't my usual nor preferred genre but I was happily surprised. I didn't put this down. I read it in one sitting (plagued by the flu) and I really enjoyed it. I didn't find it all predictable or cliched.

I felt so for poor Molly. My God,dude! Get a clue! I wanted to plant myself into the story just to smack him across the face, chest, and head and tell him not to be such an idiot. I mean you're a spy! How can you be so blind and plain stupid?!?

I can't say I was a fan of Jessica's at all. She always felt weak, whiny, clueless and bitchy to me. I was team Molly all the way.

Loved the ending! Everything just felt right. No loose ends. Highly recommend.

4 1/2 Stars!

I truly enjoyed this spy/suspense/romance. It had such a perfect blend of the three components to keep me flipping pages furiously waiting for the next twist! I loved Molly, she was tough and funny and all things female leads should be. Brady was a strong alpha even though I wanted to smack him around when it came to Jessica. I liked the whole spy part involving SIEGE and see a definite way for the author to expand on that storyline with Dix. Add this to your to read list if you enjoy suspenseful romance with humor and hot sex!
