Bell, Book & Candle | Dark Sacrifice Review

I have been impatiently waiting for the sequel to Dark Paradise for months now, and I finally had the chance to read it the other day. You all have no idea how eager I was to be immersed into the world Sandro has created again, especially after the cliffhanger (that should be illegal) from the last book.

This book picks up where the last one ended, thankfully. On a side note, I dislike sequels that

I was eager to jump right back into the strange and dark world that the Sandro has created in this series. In fact, I was even a bit excited to see what would happen next between Mala, Landry, and even George Surprisingly, I wasn't ready for the end of the first book when it came and was thankful I didn't have long to wait for the release of the second book in this wonderfully executed trilogy about the gritty life of the bayou.

Sandro did not disappoint. If anything the second installment pushed

Get ready for book two of this dark, dark, trilogy, appropriately named Dark Paradise. Dark Sacrifice by Angie Sandro is a trip back into the world she has created, full of danger, mystery, bloodshed and action, kick in a little tension between two of the characters and expect to be riveted to each and every page. We are returned to the dark, superstitious and gritty bayou country where the practice of the “arts” can become a deadly game of cat and mouse as fear and old beliefs outweigh proof an ...more

Wow I enjoyed this sequel just as much as the first one, Dark Paradise. I picked this one up from Net Galley directly after finishing the first one. I was glad they still had it available for review. This book is coming out on August 5th, and I got it in exchange for an honest review. It has a great mix of genre sure to please a large audience.

The whole ideal of this story is great. I thought that it was structured very well. There were actually several different parts to the story that I really

This one was a bit more fast paced than the first one. The push and pull between Mala and Landry was still just as irritating, but I really enjoyed the situations they were thrown into this time around.

As always, Ms. Jasmine was one of the best parts and Magnolia confused the hell out of me. We did get some answers and the reveal of the 4th man was a bit of a surprise. There was a pretty big twist I didn't see coming, but there's still a good amount of questions that need to be address

Took me quite a while to write this review, mainly because I had quite a bit of conflicting emotions in regards to the story-line. Did I not like it due to the fact that I did not read Book 1, Dark Paradise? Or did I just really not like the plot, or was it just the main character? While this book was very well written, descriptions were dead on and the author did know much of comings and goings in the Vodoun world, the plot in itself could use a little more help. Not to mention the main charact ...more

Book two starts about a month after the events of the first book in the series, with Mala locked up in the psych ward and Landry in jail. Mala is getting use to seeing spirits and has a new skill of astral projecting, where against her will, every night she goes to check on Landry. Mala does not want to be tied to him, instead she would rather focus on her new relationship with her long time crush George. One night while “visiting” Landry, she sees him get attacked by his cellmate, and die. Land ...more

Long after the fires burn out and speculation is running high Landry has all the time in the world to question every action that lead to him being in jail. Better yet being prosecuted for the murder of Ms. Jasmine, Mala’s mother. How can she ever love or trust him now?

“You wouldn’t let me help her. Mama died because of you!” “I hate you , Landry!”

Dark Sacrifice is the second book of a trilogy and picks up right where Dark Paradise ends. Mala has inherited powers from her mother and is trying to come to grips with her new ability to see ghosts (and may have some voodoo abilities, too). When she was at death’s door (in Dark Paradise), she made a deal with her Aunt Magnolia to save her own life and agreed to become her apprentice, but it is b

Not that long ago I read Dark Paradise and enjoyed it so much and that ending had me itching for the sequel, and it wasn’t a long wait for which made me soo happy.

Mala is biding her time in the psych ward and Landry is sitting in jail for trying to help Mala. Once Mala is released she wants to find those who killed a loved one of her, and to also see if she can clear Landry’s name of the crimes he is being accused of. Things have changed for Landry and his new abilities is something he doesn’t

Wow, Wow, Wow, what a brilliant sequel!

I received an advanced copy of Dark Sacrifice from the publishers for an honest review; well I can honestly say I love Sandro’s imagination and the direction this story takes, I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in Dark Redemption.

The book is the second in the Dark Paradise series, it continues from the first exploring the problematic relationship between Mala LaCroix and Landry Prince. Mala still struggling to cope with her new-found power, L

I read my first Angie Sandro novel a while back, it was the first in the series and this is the second. After I read the first, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. It had me completely entranced and I was hoping that this one would be the same. I mean, how often do you find yourself truly captivated by a book? For me, it isn't very often.

Right off the bat, with Dark Sacrifice, I was thrilled. This novel starts off with a kick ass

Book 2 of Angie Sandro’s Dark Paradise series picks up right where we left off with Dark Paradise. Mala is still in the Looney bin and Landry is still in prison. This one is just as good if not better than the first. Mala and Landry must face the aftermath of the atrocities his family brought on to Mala’s. Not to mention all the flirting and teasing between the two pays off with a sweet, sexy and romantic scene.

Mala has learned some control over her abilities, not a lot just enough to ignore a

Love, love, loving this series! Loved Dark Paradise, loved Dark Sacrifice and eagerly awaiting Dark Redemption! When I requested and was approved for this on NetGalley I did a little butt jig in my chair, hands and arms raised in my one man wave and a loud WOO was heard ringing through our house that day. They never really do catch a break to even relish in their moment of bliss before having to deal with inner demons, psychotic siblings, evil relatives and angry ghosts.

Well this book freaking stunned me. Like full on tasered in the backside. Honestly, I’m still sort of in shock. It seems that all I’ve been doing lately is complaining how nothing in the book is happening. So, Ms. Angie Sandro, thank the Lord for you ma’am because you pulled me out of withdrawal!

I was very excited when I was granted access to read Dark Paradise by the publisher via netgalley. The story picks up a few weeks after the outcome of the Dark Paradise. Mala is in the psych ward while Landry is stuck in prison. Mala knows that her gifts are only going to increase and when ghostly visions from past and present begin to haunt her. Landry’s brush with death while in prison has changed him down to his very soul. He knows he must protect Mala all the while trying to learn to harness ...more

I really enjoyed this book. It is the second novel in the new adult series. The first of which is Dark Paradise. These books take you in a different direction than the majority of new adult romance’s out there. It has a paranormal edge that will keep you hanging on page after page. I didn’t go into these books knowing it was going to have a darker paranormal feel. So I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really enjoyed it.

In the beginning of "Dark Sacrifice" Mala LaCroix finds herself locked in a mental institution. On the other side of town Landry Prince is staring out from behind the bars of his jail cell. Needless to say things have gone a little downhill since the previous book.

Not only does Mala have to watch for vengeful spirits out to get her she now has to worry about the living as well. A cold blooded murderer will not rest until Mala and Landry are dead and in the ground.

On top of all that Mala has no

I really do love books like this one. I have a thing apparently for books centered in New Orleans area that deal with spirits and all. This one was no different.

Mala sees dead people and after a near death experience her soul isn't hers anymore. She's promised to learn about her powers. I really wished the author would have touched more on this part of the story. While I really enjoyed the direction the story w

Five HUGE stars again! This is the second novel in Angie Sandro's Dark Paradise series, and I loved it as much as the first one.
There are so many shocks, and revelations in this story that you don't feel like it's a second novel. It's not just filler here folks. There is real meat to this story. I am still in love with Mala and Landry! They definitely have some ups and downs in this one, but I'm hopeful till the end.

I have REALLY enjoyed the first 2 books in Angie Sandro's series. It has a "True Blood" feel to me, but with ghosts and witch doctors instead of vampires.

Dark Sacrifice picks up several days after the events of Dark Paradise. Mala's in a mental institution and Landry's in jail and both have been irrevocably changed since first meeting all those weeks ago. Mala can't stay away from Landry, even though her trust in him has been shattered. Landry is on a mission to protect Mala at all costs.

This book almost, but not quite, falls victim to middle book syndrome. It does give us a solution to a murder mystery, in this case the real killers of Mala's mom, but it's more incidental than vital to the story. I was hoping that we'd get a significant amount of Mala learning about her powers from her Aunt Magnolia, but that didn't exactly happen, either. I enjoyed Mala's developing relationships and the inclusion of her ghostly mother, but in the long run we didn't get a major advancement in ...more
